Courtesy IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/118/1185709p1.html):

Gearbox Software will release a sequel to Borderlands sometime next year, according to a report from Eurogamer.

A source close to the project told the website the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that an official announcement is expected soon.

Gearbox officials declined to comment on the report.

Publisher Take-Two/2K Games has hinted previously that fans can expect more Borderlands titles in the future.

"We have long term publishing rights to sequels of Borderlands and expect this to become a key franchise for Take-Two," said then CEO Ben Feder during a 2009 earnings call.

Yep solo it was really boring. But a complete 180 co-op.

(shrugs) I had fun with solo and was having fun with solo until I decided to play co-op with a friend instead. We beat the game co-op and it was a lot of fun.

As for the driving, I thought the driving was perfectly fine.

I hope they actually expand more on the RPG mechanics of the game because there's definitely more to be done there. That, and it was basically pointless to use anything but the SMGs because of how overpowered they were compared to other guns (plus, the SMGs had a MUCH higher chance of getting the x3 and x4 effect procs than the other guns).

Borderlands 2 is bumpin' up the brutality with new details, courtesy of the latest issue of GameInformer (http://www.gameinformer.com/p/borderlands.aspx). Co-op will remain four-player, but the enemy and NPC AI has been revved to support a more interactive environment, with friendlies offering dialogue and bandits carrying weapons unique to their class. Eridium, a new element, will serve as currency and a means of upgrading weapons and vehicles, we assume by duct-taping it to whichever item you wish to improve.

The original Borderlands characters will be NPCs in the Gearbox sequel, but we do have a small amount of details on a new character, the dwarf Salvador, who is pictured above. A Gunzerker, Salvador will be able to dual-wield any weapon, all while sporting a sweet beard. Borderlands 2 will use all new weapons, each designed to fit the personalities of their in-game manufacturers, and the story will feature dynamic missions, making factors such as time critical to your success.

Borderlands 2 is expected to launch (http://www.borderlands2.com/) in Take-Two's fiscal year 2013, which begins April 1, 2012. But most importantly, Claptrap will be back, we hope with some new dance moves.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun: Hands on with Borderlands 2 (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/04/borderlands-2-preview-pc/)

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands7.jpg
And now for the sequel. That’s the trick, isn’t it? If a game is successful then the studio end up being required to do it again, and it must be the same, but more so and different. Getting that right can be a peculiar challenge. There’s a stack of shortcuts available, of course, because you’re building on existing technology, fiction, and art, but there’s also the challenge of not throwing away that advantage and actually making something better, or more interesting. That’s the challenge that Gearbox now face with Borderlands 2 (http://www.borderlands2.com/): to build on the relative success of their left-field post-apocalyptic space frontier, and to carve out wider horizons for one of the most interesting hybrid-FPS projects in mainstream gaming.

Sitting down to play Borderlands 2, I am pitched straight into a co-op game with another gentleman of the press, whose name I didn’t catch. Sorry about that. He took on Salvador, the “Gunzerker” character, (a character I would later solo with) while I took control of the new siren, Maya. We – I mean myself and the other player – didn’t immediately gel in terms of working together, but once I’d figured out just how much more damage he was doing than my siren (thanks to his dual-wielding super-power) I learned to stay back, rez him when he fell, and to lock up significant enemies with my black-hole phaselock superpower. This ability dragged them off the ground in a purple aura, stopping their attacks and making them easy to kill off. It didn’t seem to work on everyone, but it was of significant utility in fights where we faced half a dozen spitting, leaping antagonists at once.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands2.jpg
For this hands-on event, which would take place through two quite different sections of the game, we hit the ground running at level 20, with a wealth of skills and weapons available to us. Having spent some points and headed into the first map’s landscape – a sort of rocky grasslands military complex in which weird creatures were imprisoned – to fight outlandish beasts. While the mutant-mouthed skag things from the original game made a prompt return, we were also immediately inundated with a swarm of all-new flying, leaping, stealthing waves of alien unhelpfuls. Carving our way through this vibrant bunch revealed a much colourful palette this time around; both literally in terms of the colours used, but also in the range of imaginative plots enemies are now endowed with. But we’ll come back to that in a moment.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands3.jpg
Soon we were up on a hill and talking to Mordecai, the sniper character from the original Borderlands game. He’s lost his bird-companion to the game’s new super-villain, and we had to return it. Mordecai was much more alive and animate than the quest-dispensing characters from the original game, and I understand that this time around NPCs will be coming out of their cabins and shacks, and even accompanying players in certain missions. That’s a big leap forward for a game where NPCs – other than Claptrap – were previously little more than a part of the background. This, I think, could be very much to the game’s benefit, since it will feel far more alive and, in an small way, far more like an RPG.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands4.jpg
As we played further I began to notice the details that were filling out the world this time around. It was often the little things that stood out – like the seamlessness of the menus at the start of the game. Rather than Borderlands’ awkwardness, this feels very smooth. Grab my character and leap straight into the game. And once in there I ran up to my co-op chum to see his character actually looking at a holo-project of the menu in the game world. He was still on the menu screens. A neat touch. Borderlands 2 is full of them.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands5.jpg
But there were broader strokes ahead – what faces the players in terms of a combat challenge now ramps up a bit in complexity. Fighting an initial band of robots enemies, we were charged with having to simply cripple, rather than destroy them. As their repair-buddies came to rescue them, so we were able to breach the opened door and get into the compound they were protecting. Inside robot variants worked together in complimentary groups, while annoying flying enemies flew around us, being annoying. Working out optimal takedown for this groups didn’t really work out for me and my press chum, but I am sure it will once I’m playing the game proper, with co-op friends.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands6.jpg
I should mention at this point that while I was playing on a high-end Alienware, I was handicapped by having to use a gamepad (and I say that as someone who played through the original game on PC and then later on 360). That was just how it had been set up – most of the press there were console or mainstream media types – but it showed that crucial annoyance of the flying enemy. Easy to pick him off with mouse aim, I suspect, but tougher with the lesser flick-aim of the thumbsticks. As a foot-note, developers, no-one likes flying bug enemies. And they have never have.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands1.jpg
Not that it really matters, of course, because the real meat of things – guns flaring, baddies bursting, loot spilling into your pockets – remains the same, and with two players it scales up pleasingly to a torrent of cartoonish violence. I really was enjoying myself. I know there’s always a glow around something new, and part of it was just that this was fresh Borderlands, but it felt slicker, and perhaps even more punchy. I did get lost in the chaos of one battle, but I suspect I need time to tune up to its level.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands8.jpg
So anyway, that “colourful palette” I mentioned. This is Borderlands but with greater contrast. It certainly looks impressive. The edge-shaded visuals remain, and they look incredible at times. The design is much bolder, too, with architecture, characters and enemies remaining within the same basic frame, but bolder and more lavish. The stars of the show, the guns, are quite often extraordinary – giant multi-coloured death-mixers that scythe into sight from the bottom right of your screen. A couple of them actually made me laugh out loud with their outlandishness. But something about that makes me feel a little uneasy. I get the vaguest feeling that Borderlands 2 might have lost something of the original game’s charm in its eagerness to expand its sci-fi horizons.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands9.jpg
The original game had – both visually and audibly – a brilliant dusty, rusty frontier desert-planet feel to it. If you’ve played it, you’ll know what I mean. Perhaps this sequel will make up for that with more rounded characters, and better everything else, but I hope it they can also avoid losing sight of what made it so charming. Maybe I am just being the fusty grouch that people tell me I am, but the “wackiness” of Borderlands (which was always pitched as something of a comedy) has certainly ranked up for its return. A baddie screaming “And I had nearly finished writing my comic book!” as he died under my guns was once such moment which was clearly intended to raise a chortle.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands10.jpg
So too were later events, such as a quest to rescue risqué erotic images from a monster at the bottom of a cavern in which I had to traverse a lake of toxic sludge. I was, by this point, playing alone with Gunzerker, and enjoying the insane damage output of using any combination of two of the four guns I was carrying at any one time. I was also enjoying fighting the rather more complex boss creature – which needed crystal armour blasted from its legs (in trad boss fashion) before I could go for the kill. And I still like how numbers fly off everything as you shoot them. Sometimes bigger numbers are enough.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/12/apr/blands11.jpg
The erotica, as it turned out, would be a gateway to another of Borderland 2′s RPGish developments: forked quests. Do you deliver the pictures back to their subject, and save her modesty? Or to the lusty gentleman who originally hired you to return his relaxation photography? It’s a minor thing, but the idea that Borderlands 2 is building on choice, and beginning to feel confident with growing new features using the RPG part of its DNA, makes me even more interested to see what Gearbox are able to pull off this second time around. I suspect we’ve not seen everything they’ve yet to reveal, either. But perhaps we’ll get a whiff of that before September.

http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/7/19/3169229/borderlands-2-features-a-58-hour-long-campaign

Borderlands 2 will feature a 58-hour long campaign, based on a recent playthrough with one of the four playable characters available in the game, developer Gearbox Software confirms.

Speaking to Gamerzines, Gearbox marketing VP Steve Gibson reasoned the length is due to the studio's perception of Borderlands as "a hobby."

"Some guide guys just did a playthrough of Borderlands 2 and they reported back to us that it takes 58 hours to play through the campaign - and that's just one playthrough with one character.

"We look at it as a hobby, and that isn't even counting the new Badass Points system and how that'll affect every character you do. We want it to feel like you get more for your money. We're happy for people to pay their money once and feel that they get ongoing value."

Gearbox Software stated the sequel would also focus on improved framerate and stability, as well as a total count of unique enemies in the triple digits, earlier in May.

Borderlands 2 is slated to release September 18th in North America on Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3.

For you though, I would say restart later, let it finish the rest of the install, etc. until you eventually launch the game. After the game comes up, close it, launch it again and if it prompts again for a restart, go ahead and restart then and you should be good.

There's something weird going on here. If I set all my graphical settings to High and my physics to low, it plays perfectly. 60 frames per second and no stutter. If I turn on physics to medium or higher, it just goes to hell. Even if I put everything else on low with a lower resolution and then physics on medium, it has the same slowdown. Come on! I want to see PhysX in action!

I got the GotY edition of the original but didn't get very far into it. I think it was due to 1) Not really being a fan of FPSs, 2) playing alone and not with a group, and 3) playing as the sniper guy and having to level up to get an accurate shot. If I had the time to play with people while it's the new hotness, I'd get it but I'll probably just skip this altogether.

You all suck. I get amazing graphics AND I play with a controller. Suck on that. :D

I think my drivers might be out of date, so I think I'll try updating those and see if that helps. My card is definitely supported but this is the first game that I've played that actually uses PhysX(which my card does support) so I probably just have it configured incorrectly.\

Also, it does the physics and everything, it's just in really slow motion, which is what leads me to believe I have something set up wrong somewhere. I will say this, though, the physics effects are flat out amazing. When you see them, you begin to understand why a lot of developers recently are pushing for next gen hardware to release. It literally makes 360/PS3 games look bad.

Also I have never seen a review hit 1,000+ rage induced comments on the day it was released.

First one is definitely worth playing, but there doesn't seem to be a huge story tie-in between the two games, so you're fine playing 2 before.

There are a lot of improvements from 1 to 2 that I've noticed, so you may see some things as minor annoyances when you go back.

BTW, if you haven't signed up for Gearbox Shift in-game, do so and you'll earn a Golden Key. I accidentally wasted my first Golden Key after landing in Sanctuary, seeing this neato chest only to realize it was a golden chest. The weapons I got from it quickly became lame. I'm holding onto my second one until I max out my player.

You don't have to worry about Gold Keys if you're on PC. Gearbox already said if it's in the game, it's in the game.

First off, close borderlands and steam down completely.
Then, Go to:
C:\Program File (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\DLC\POPremierClub\Lic
Or wherever you have it installed.
Then open file: WillowDLC
Edit: [GoldenKeys] +SourceId=254 +NumKeys=1
[PromotionalUnlocks] +UnlockId=2
to:
[GoldenKeys] +SourceId=254 +NumKeys=255
[PromotionalUnlocks] +UnlockId=2
Save the file and relaunch the game.
Somebody had posted this on the Gearbox forums and they essentially said "We're not blizzard."

I was playing last night and I'm getting near the end I would imagine. I'm level 33 playing as Zero. However, I've somehow found an ability that on every 3rd reload (give or take) of a weapon, I get crazy stats with 3x the weapon capacity and 10x damage. To my knowledge, I don't have any special attributes or accessories or anything that spells it out for it to happen. I honestly have no idea why it does and it's not just with snipers, it's with all gun types and lasts until I finish that "clip" of ammo. At any rate, I had it happen last night with my brand new sniper rifle that's similar to the Elephant gun from Borderlands 1. Using that gun plus the random boost, I got this: (be sure to note the K beside the damage amount)

The next Borderlands 2 DLC will be "Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt," according to PS3 game files Gearbox forum members spotted in today's patch. Gearbox has confirmed this information to us.

Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, aside from having massive beasts and crazy guns (we assume), has three new trophies/achievements: one for completing "The Fall of Nakayama" mission, one for completing all side missions and the last for discovering all named locations in the Hunt.

The Borderlands 2 Season Pass includes access to two more DLC packs, including Sir Hammerlock's. The previous pack, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, dropped on November 20.

Up to 31 so I may make to 61 by years end. Oweb, you gotta jump into the Tiny Tina DLC. While my character is probably too low for it, I jumped in and made a good deal of progress. Typical BL humor and the Board game story line is ingenious. Orcs on the other hand suck. I was using a 29 LVL character when I got to some Super Orc. I only defeated him because he got trapped. Took 2 different turret runs (and I have the grenade turret skill) all my grenades, rockets and most of my ammo. Oddly enough the actual boss that followed was easier but far more time consuming, since he was not stuck.

Shoot things in Borderlands 2 for a chance at winning loot, cash prizes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIRRM5NIe54

Borderlands 2's upcoming Loot Hunt competition will give you a shot at earning in-game and real-life prizes as you mow down the inhabitants of Pandora. Once players register at the event's site, they can enter themselves in the raffle by hunting Daily Targets within the game starting on October 11.

The prize pool will include loot chests filled with Nvidia Shield and Falcon Northwest Tiki PC combos, Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti GFX cards, PlayStation Vitas with copies of Borderlands 2 Vita (once it's released), and lifetime passes to everything 2K ever has and will put out on Steam. One player will also win $50,000 in cash while four others earn scaled amounts from a second pool of $50,000.

If you don't win a physical prize, you'll still have a collective chance with other players at "unique in-game loot" by completing the loot hunt's Community Goals. The event's site describes these as daily campaigns of genocide against "a special type of enemy with that day's unique gun." If enough are slaughtered in the name of personal benefit, those involved will earn a special gun at the end of the week.

Only players in the US are eligible for the physical rewards, but the in-game rewards will be available to vault hunters worldwide.

Halloween-themed DLC on the way:

Borderlands 2's "headhunter" series begins with a trip to hollow out a Pumpkin Kingpin's head for your Vault Hunter to wear. The downloadable content with the Thanksgiving mouthful of a name, "Headhunter 1: TK Baha's Bloody Harvest," will be available on Steam, Mac, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 22.

Each headhunter installment will culminate with Vault Hunters fighting a "rather unique" boss and then taking their head to wear. It's far less creepy than that Hannibal Lecter image you've got in your head. This first installment concludes with a trip to the Pumpkin Kingpin's pumpkin patch to claim his orange melon. Are pumpkins melons? Too early to Wiki it.

The DLC is priced at $2.99 and can be completed "in a single sitting," according to 2K Games. In keeping with the spirit of Halloween, there will also be pieces of candy from enemy drops that provide temporary buffs.

Christmas DLC coming December 17 (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/12/12/borderlands-2-delivers-christmas-cheer-in-next-headhunter-chapte/):

Borderlands 2's third Headhunter series add-on, titled "How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day," will hit Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network and PC and Mac platforms via Steam on December 17, publisher 2K announced this week.

How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day is a Christmas-themed expansion that takes the vault hunters to the wintry village of Gingerton in search of a missing weapons cache. Battling freezing temperatures and obnoxious holiday cheer, the hunters fight toward a climactic battle with the Abominable Mister Tinder Snowflake, a killer snowman with a posse. Upon completing the mission, players will receive an equippable snowman head for their vault hunter, along with a number of unlockable expressions and character skins.

Gearbox's latest add-on is the third in a string of holiday-themed releases for Borderlands 2, following up on recent expansions celebrating Thanksgiving and Halloween. How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day will be priced at $2.99 when it launches next week.

Well if you like opening up tons of presents with loads of money, this DLC is for you. Also a pretty hefty reward after beating the boss. I bought all the headhunter DLC and this is my favorite because I love gobs of money and loot. Each were worth the $2.99 but they are also pretty short. One main mission and one small mission like the others. Loved the music during the mission and boss fight. Still wish they would have done a sequel to the Tiny Tina DLC instead of this.
