is it common to not be able to see private messages you sent? I only see incoming messages, not outgoing or whether opened or not...do you not want us to see what we send? is there some benefit to you the way the site is designed, what if I want to cancel or correct something? ive only sent a few in 2 years but I noticed this ,so i'm asking ?

You can see them so long as you leave the check box that says "save a copy in my sent folder" or whatever it is when you send one. Then to see them, just goto your private messages and click on Sent Items from the left menu.

Awards I'm personally not all that concerned about, but Bowl Game icons, that would be sweet. I'm typing up a rundown of the bowl games right now at the end of my 1st season, and already using conference and team icons, using the logo/icons of the bowl games, rather than just typing out their name would be awesome.

Just a suggestion for consideration in the future whenever there was time, of possibly making the background transparent on the background of the Bowl games and for the ACC, MAC, and SEC Championships.

I just went in an updated my Championship Games and Bowl Games posts with the new logos when I noticed the white backgrounds. Nothing major, nothing that requires immediate attention, but just a thought and suggestion for the future when time permits.

Yep, I was gonna say, limit it to one max for each sport. Try to get them shrunk down smaller as a set to use only for the profile field, so they aren't gigantic (but won't affect the size of the logos for posting) and will mix in somewhat well with the 360/PSN/AIM/etc logos.

Or maybe even go so far as to only allow 3 logo max, regardless of sport. So you get three choices to use and that's it. Something like that would also work.

We've now upgraded to the latest version of vbulletin, 4.1.5. With this update, the biggest change is the new WYSIWYG editor for all browsers, including Chrome. What that means is that now, when you're in WYSIWYG mode (toggle is the upper left icon), you can copy & paste content and the forum will do it's best to convert it to matching bbcode. This also incorporates new table capabilities, including the ability to copy & paste the OS generated tables for dynasty/franchise reports that was requested in the past.

Right now the WYSIWYG editor defaults to off though I'm going to look to see if I can default it to on for everyone... then people can change it for their own personal taste.

Let me know any thoughts or questions.

Just a heads up, with the new version, the old table bbcode is no longer rendered. You can go in and edit your post to get the content out, however obviously it won't be formatted properly in it's current state.

To use the new table, it's similar to HTML using the [table][tr][td] tags. As well, you can generate a table by clicking the buttons along the 3rd row of icons above the post when you're using the full post editor.

Yeah, and had I realized beforehand the conflict, I would have either figured something out or polled everyone.

That said, you MIGHT be able copy the text into notepad or word and do a find/replace for | and replace it with [/td][td]. You would still have to add the [tr] to the front of each row.

Yeah, it's all good. In terms of actually putting in new information, these new tables are MUCH user friendly, as the table itself is already laid out, you can easily center it and everything, as oppose to centering each individual section, it centers the entire thing if you want, etc. You don't have to keep typing | repeatedly between information. So overall, it's a much nicer and easier format. The big thing right now is just updating and switching the tables in old posts to the new format.

Yeah, while it took a while to redo everything, I was able to get quite a few posts from the beginning and my first couple games of season 1 in my dynasty updated, so it's coming along. It's not too bad. The real pain in the ass in terms of updating the format is going to be the bowl games, the conference standings, the coaching carousel, etc, at the end of season 1. Those tables could take me a while.

Even if you can just put the ones that are normally used (not the logo ones and all that), that would be great. Some of them I know the code for and some of them I don't so I end up having to use the "Go Advanced" method of posting to add those cause I can never remember the code for them.

Yeah... looks like there's not a good way to do it. The problem is that the old tables we had were a hack that some guy created and they actually hadn't been updated in over three years... they just still worked. Therefore, there wasn't an automatic way to convert them.

It's all good man. Like I said, I actually do like these new tables better than the old ones, because you can set it up exactly how you want it from the very beginning, how many rows, how many columns, have it all centered, etc right from the very beginning, create it and have it all laid out, then just go and type in what you need to. Much easier and convenient than typing |||| over and over between information in the tables. Right now, at least for us dynasty guys, it's just trying to get the stuff from the old tables switched to the new tables. That's the only issue for me. Otherwise, I love the new tables. They'll make things quicker after games since I'll have the actual physical table already fully created.

Alright, an update.

vbulletin does allow for multiple installs but not anything that we can allow the public to access.
"Such a test forum must be password protected, and not made available to the general public at any time."
So for now, that solution is out the window, though I've got a follow-up question regarding that so we'll see.


However, one workable solution I've come up with in order to convert your tables manually...

1) Edit your post in Source Mode (the A/A at the top-left)
2) Copy your text from source mode
3) Open Excel or Open Office and in Column B, paste the contents of your post
4) Do a find/replace for | and replace it with [/td]
5) In column A, add [td] in front of every line (obviously for the first line, you'll have to add it in-between the [table] tag)
6) In column C, add
7) Copy & Paste Columns A-C into your post (while staying in Source Mode)

That should give you the majority of the table corrections, however there still might be some cleanup if you used table switches (head, width, etc.) As well, if you want the line grids to show, use the switch "class: grid" in your opening [table] tag

I know it's not perfect and isn't infinitely easier, but it should be somewhat easier. I'll continue to update anything else that I can share.

Agreed. At least he's trying to find a work-around. I have probably the most posts with tables out of everyone that need to be fixed with my dynasty thread, and I'm taking it all in stride. I'm going to work on stuff over the next couple days when I can and get it all switched over and am alright with it. As I said in a previous post, personally, I actually like this new formatting for tables. It's much more streamlined in the WYSIWYG mode, and much quicker to type in information, so I'm happy with it. The hassle is just updating tables in previous posts, but it'll just take some time to sit down and do it, that's all. Nothing to get worked up about.

Yeah, I was able to update my entire Dynasty History, Coach History, season 1 schedule, and first two games in season 1, got all of that done in maybe an hour or so. So all added up, it'll take awhile, but nothing horrible.

Yeah, I've got a long way to go. :D 20 game reports, coaching carousel, two bowl rundown tables (one of the games and teams, one of the results), conference standings, All-Americans, Top 25, Preseason Top 25, Heisman, schedules for season 1 and 2, current contract status, 2011 recruiting class, 2012 two deep roster, players leaving, transfers, position changes, cut players, etc. It's a lot of things to edit.

I'm actually thinking about changing and editing everything for season 2, and the season 1 conference championship games, bowl games, and the offseason stuff (CC, transfers, players leaving, etc.) and then keep going with my dynasty, and leave all the season 1 stuff to edit as I get time here and there, eventually getting it all reformatted and corrected over the next week or two.

It's interesting that in the upgrade to 4.1.5, vBulletin basically broke the way I used the Quick Reply box. Oh well, I'll live.

Also interesting to see them go to the psuedo-HTML formatting for tables. Invision's using the same. Don't like it over there, probably won't like it over here. But again, I'll live. Since I know HTML it shouldn't be a problem ... but I've never liked tables in HTML either :D

I just dont use it all the time...if its an important e mail or something that really matters, I'll bother with all the little details.. How to use the new tables. What tags do I have to use to get them to work?Well, there are two ways. The easy way is to go into the full post editor (ie click Go Advanced at the bottom), then, ensure that the WYSIWYG editor is enabled (top left icon above the post). After that, just click the first icon in the third row labeled Table. It will ask you what properties you want for your table (size, etc.) and you can just fill in your table further from there.

As well, if you are copying the table from somewhere else (ie another web page, Word, etc.), you can turn on the WYSIWYG editor, and then just paste it straight into the post. It will do it's best to mimic it automatically.

If you would prefer to do it by code, if you're familiar with HTML tables, it uses the same code base, just obviously [s instead of <s... [table][tr][td].

That's something that has plagued message boards for years. Last I saw, pretty much everyone agreed it could never legitimately be done. I'm intrigued that there's a hack for it, because that takes a ton of database effort. Ignoring posts is a simple database query -- ignoring quotes in posts is much harder.

I've disabled the old BBcode Tables. They were causing a problem with viewing the new tables in WYSIWYG. As a result though, any old tables won't display, not even when you look at the source code. So, with that said, if you find some old tables that you need to convert, you'll need to let me know and I can re-enable the old tables temporarily.

Just discovered that if you try to copy/paste from Excel, it won't paste properly when using Chrome. However, if you use IE, it does work. I haven't tested Firefox but I would assume it would work properly as well.
