After my first game it is pretty clear that we need slider adjustments to help out the CPU on both sides.
I was able to move the ball better than I should have and Michigan wasn't able to as well as they should have I don't think.
I assumed I could keep that game close but never figured I'd win.

Let's start talking about slider options, I've seen several sets for coach mode here, at OS and Utopia so let's come up with the best set we can and keep this baby rolling.

I know Steelerfan's sliders are geared more towards User vs. CPU, but in the couple coach mode games I did with his sliders, they worked pretty well. So his set are another try to test out.

:sf:'s are definitely the ones I've been using. They are actually pretty damn close on both sides of the ball.

Well, that explains my 62-9 shellackin' of Howard last night. It was actually scary at first. They were running all over me and got off two field goals before I knew what hit me.

Well I'm going to run some test games with his sliders then and hopefully I never keep it close against Michigan LOL

On a side note, I did a coach mode off line against CMU and won in overtime. The cpu was a lot harder then.

I'm going to play games against my first 4 opponents with steelerfan's sliders and see how that goes and I'll report back.

I just played at Michigan again with steelerfan's sliders and I still won 20-7

I'm going to try a different set now.

Using Miamikris' coach mode sliders from OS and I'm actually losing by 4 late in the 3rd. We'll see how it finishes up.

Well I came back and won that game 35-28 in overtime.

Then I played on default Heisman and it was the best feeling and looking game I've played in quite awhile. Michigan beat me by 10 but it wasn't as close as that, they outgained me in yardage, had more time of possession and QB Robinson took off and ran well when necessary and also ran a couple good option plays as well.
I then played on default Heisman at home against C Mich and took care of them pretty handily but they were able to move the ball and score on me.

Right now I'm thinking we change to default HEISMAN with steelerfans penalty sliders......thoughts anyone?

SmoothPancakes

I don't know. Granted it's CPU vs. CPU in the end, but I have hated Heisman since last gen. Cheesiest sh*t in the game outside of cheesers online.

Coach Kernzy
07-23-2011, 06:32 PM
Well give it a try and see what you think. We all said Heisman played well in the demo and from the several games I've played today with 4 different slider sets, default heisman was the best by far.......

None of it really bothers me. I could be worried about how much harder recruiting would be if we made it heisman.

Also, only a few had upsets happen. From the looks of it, a lot of our guys lost and some lost big time. What if Bama and Michigan got upset? It's happened before to big time schools, and by FCS teams to boot.

Arch, that's kinda what I was thinking. I'm thinking back to App. St beating Michigan, or Stanford upsetting USC a few years back. Upsets DO happen. I think I told Coach Kernzy that while waiting for our OD to start, I started an offline dynasty to scout my games. The first time I played BAMA, I got ANNHIALATED. It was something like 65-70 something to ZERO. Same sliders as we used in our OD. I adjusted MY gameplan, adjusted my defensive adjustments to try and be aggressive and strip the football, and I was able to control the clock an keep BAMA's offense off the field thanks to some big plays. While I don't think that I would win that game more than once out of 40 or 50 tries, I would say that I don't think wholesale changes are needed across the board just yet. Michigan is down. I got lucky that my gameplan worked and caught some breaks. We had some losses too, to Florida. Let's see how the next week goes, IMHO.

Whats weird is that I have played MS State offline using the same sliders as our league and have beat them 3 out of 5 times. Then I get destroyed in the league game. Not sure what we should do at this point....I am thinking that we need to wait at least one more week before we make changes.

Coach Kernzy
07-24-2011, 11:24 AM
That's fine with me guys if we wait one more week and then make changes, there are lots of variables in every game certainly but I'm just not sure no matter how many variables go your way we should be beating the likes of Michigan and Alabama. I'd expect games more like what Memphis had with Miss St where he was able to score some but also gave up way more than he scored himself.
But like you guys say it is only one week so we'll give it another week and assess things at that point.

I can be the guniey pig for next week. I play at Arkansas and I should get my ass handed to me. But I'm also flexible and will go with whatever we decide.

Archedemius

I can also guinea pig when I play UofM and PSU.

I have no problem with Heisman difficulty for Coach Mode besides the ridiculous amount of blitzing that the CPU does, but it seems to do just as much with :sf:'s sliders as well so, in the end, default Heisman is fine with me.

Also, the recruiting difficulty won't change. It's independent of the difficulty setting for the CPU.

Coach Kernzy

Guys I'm really starting to think default Heisman is our next stop on the road to finding sliders.

I played a couple more games last night on default Heisman and I thought they played great. Plus NT pulling another upset coming back to beat Houston. Granted upsets happen but we've already had them on a pretty massive scale and this OD isn't going to be any fun if we're all winning easily with these shitty teams. What's the fun in that.

So I do think we dial it up to Heisman next week unless there is some real opposition.

Gnarlymutt

After my 48-3 white-washing of ULL, I support the bumping up of the sliders to give the CPU a chance. Granted, ULL is terrible, but the should've at least scored 1 TD...

Coach Kernzy
07-26-2011, 09:07 AM
Also guys, on default Heisman I'm seeing better play from all players and more animations and different moves than I've ever seen playing All-American and because we are playing coach mode that goes for us and the CPU. Try it, play a game with mors' rosters on default Heisman and see what you think. I'm probably going to start an offline dynasty with them and continue testing.

Archedemius

I wish I could've played UofM prior to the switch but that is okay. I'm find getting blasted by them. My rushing yards are ridic right now though. My second stringer actually leads the NCAA in rushing. LOL!

AustinWolv
07-26-2011, 01:32 PM
Y'all must have decent OLs, but it seems like my rushing game sucks. Granted, I think UNT ran a pass-first offense last year. ;)

Can't speak for coach mode yet, but Heisman default is excellent for regular game mode. I'm a Heisman player for a few years now, and it is the best it has ever been. Only slider I've touched was to move CPU pass coverage to 40, whereas in past versions I would have been testing sliders like crazy. '12 doesn't need that yet.

We'll find out next week AustinWolv :)

You don't think roster bugs have anything to do with outcomes do you?

In my week two game. Five defensive face mask penalties called so far in the first half

Archedemius
07-26-2011, 06:53 PM
I also had a lot of facemasking on both sides of the ball the last two games. My team is #1 in the nation in penalty yards because of it.

natcret
07-26-2011, 07:38 PM
Just finshed...two more face masks and a clipping. Total penalties for the game = 11. Seven face mask, 1 clipping, 2 false starts and 1 offsides.

Archedemius
07-26-2011, 07:39 PM
LOL! You may have me beat now!

natcret
07-26-2011, 07:41 PM
total penalties for both teams... sorry.

Oh... haha.

morsdraconis
07-26-2011, 07:46 PM
That's nothing. I played a game using these penalty sliders and had 16 penalties between the two teams, but most of them were offsides, false start, and holding penalties.

Archedemius
07-26-2011, 07:57 PM
false starts, offsides and holding I can deal with, especially with our weak teams. But a million facemasks would seem in real life that there were some major discipline problems and coaching problems that would lead to a pretty quick benching and firing of coaches. I'm going to get more real and start benching guys when they get more than one personal foul facemask.

Archedemius

I'm coaching a bunch of nasties.

FO SHO! Of course, I may not bench much because my next 2 weeks are at UofM and PSU.

Interesting, I'm curious as to why it has been said that All-American is what the devs said the game's 'realistic' setting was intended to be.

For coach mode, I don't care what level we play on as long as it plays realistic and fair with decent stats. When I play personally, I have to on Heisman as the lower levels are just too damn easy. Although I'd be willing to give this guy's Varsity sliders a shot to see if I can be given a challenge with them. Where are they posted?

(BTW, use the insert video tags instead of code tags)

That is very interesting. It has me wondering now. I think I am going to do a quick test and see what happens.
