Game freezes checking for SS update

Trying to play my RTG game and my system locks up while loading the game and searching for season showdown updates. It freezes while showing me the message of the day. Which is to be sure to tune into "The Making of the Game" episode 2.

I dont give a rats ass about your 2 dollar tv show and would like to be able to play my games while being signed in online without having to see your worthless advertisements. Is that cool with you since I did pay for the game??

Im not watching any of your stupid shows unless they are going to include the major roster editing tendency glitch thats a game breaker for dynasty mode. Is that going to be included?? Didnt think so.

Never been so annoyed in my life at this moment. Is there not an option to turn off Season Showdown?? If not, there should be. SS is the worst feature ever in any game Ive ever played.

Are you getting this anywhere else throughout the game? When did this start happening?

It was freezing in multiple ways. It would take 2 or 3 minutes to search/check for SS settings or updates, which makes me mad as hell. I dont care to wait several minutes for a worthless feature like season showdown. After SS wouldnt load I would get stuck with that "message of the day" message reminding me to watch their show. So it would either freeze there and wouldnt let me press X to close the message or SS would just take forever to update.

Theres no way that anyone should have to tolerate this, it isnt right at all. Its just annoying to play a game while being signed in the PSN. I shouldnt have to wait for SS to load if I dont want too and I shouldnt have to be reminded to watch their silly show. I shouldnt have to sign offline to play my game that I BOUGHT.

I hate Season Showdown with a passion. Its cheesy and serves no real purpose. EA thinks that everyone is going to play with their favorite team to see who scores the most fan points. Stupid, just pure stupid. Just another waste of disk space thats getting in the way of me playing the game, the issue I had earlier is the perfect reason for EA to include the option to disable Season Showdown. It should not be forced on you just because you are signed online.

I contacted EA with the issue you ran into and this is info straight from them:

There is a known freeze that occurs when attempting to reconnect to the EA Servers at team select if you have not been prompted with the message of the day. For now, to avoid this freeze make sure you are still connected to the EA Servers before attempting to advance into a game.
