After this shake up now 96 of 120 teams are automatic qualifiers. Coach Ryan Lee begins his ride on the coaching carousel as the offensive coordinator for the Kent State Golden Flashes of the new Big Ten. Coach Lee has a midwestern upbringing hailing from Central Indiana and graduating from Indiana University. Does Coach Lee have what it takes to make the climb up the coaching ladder? How will the conference shift affect the college game? Stay tuned to find out

Offensive Style: Multiple .....Balanced up tempo scheme designed to keep the defense off balance.

The number next to the team represents the division within the conference and the team in ( ) is the protected rival.
Also I realize these conferences are totally fantasy and just thought I'd take a stab at a hypothetical new college football world

Offensive Coordinator Ryan Lee's debut at Kent State was a big one as the Flashes traveled down the street to face arch rival Akron in the battle for the Wagon Wheel. The Flashes paced by Spencer Keith's steady QB play (15-30 178 yds) and Jacquise Terry's 18 carries for 74 yards jumped out to a 10-0 halftime lead and held on in the second half to bring the Wagon Wheel home to Kent with a 16-7 victory. Although the offense was steady it was far from spectacular and Coach Lee will have to step it up before next weeks game @ Connecticut.

Player of the Game K Freddy Cortes 3/3 FG

Coach Lee's post game quote " Any time you can get a win in a rivalry game you will take it no question. That being said we are well aware that there is plenty of room for improvement and we will be hard at work preparing for a UConn team that is known for being a very good defensive ball club." "The kids just earned bragging rights with the schools campuses being separated by only 14 miles its a huge game for us and in my opinion one of the most under rated rivalries in college sports."

In Game 2 the Flashes traveled to East Hartford to take on the UConn Huskies. In a game the proud city of Kent would rather forget the visiting Flashes were dominated by the Huskies 42-0. (Heisman difficulty) Quarterback Spencer Keith had a terrible day completing 5 of his 16 passes for only 77 yards and throwing 2 interceptions. Standout running back Jacquise Terry was knocked out of the game after only three carries leaving backup Dri Archer as the primary ball carrier if you can call him that after producing 13 yards on his 8 carries. In a game with no real standouts Terry was on his way there having totaled 3 carries for 11 yards and 2 catches for 49 yards on the Flashes first drive and only real scoring threat. That drive was killed by back to back sacks inside the UConn 30 to knock the Flashes out of field goal range. The Flashes drop to 1-1 on the season and Coach Lee is sure to get all kinds of heat in the local newspapers after this terrible performance. UConn improves to 2-0. Next week the flashes host former MAC rival Bowling Green as they try to get their offense kick started.

Coach Lee's post game quote "There's not a whole lot to say about that forgettable performance. We were terrible in every facet of the game. Losing Jacquise on our first drive was a killer. We have to go back to the drawing board before next weeks home game with our former MAC rival Bowling Green."

In the what could become the final annual Battle for the Anniversary Award with Kent State's move to the Big Ten the Flashes and Falcons did not disappoint. In a nip and tuck battle that wasn't decided until the final minute the Flashes held off the Falcons by a score of 35-21 at Dix Stadium in Kent's home opener. The Flashes struck first when Quarterback Spencer Keith hooked up with Kentucky transfer Eric Adeyemi for a 38 yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter. The very next drive the Flashes appeared to take a 14-0 lead on another Spencer Keith touchdown pass this time to Tyshon Goode but a holding penalty brought the score back. After the penalty and a sack the drive stalled and the Flashes were forced to punt. Bowling Green would tie the game up at 7 on their next drive. The interception bug would bite Keith twice late in the first half the first one killing a scoring threat and the second one setting Bowling Green up inside the Kent 10 with under a minute to go. The Falcons made Keith pay taking a 14-7 lead with 8 seconds left in the half. A last second Hail Mary paid off as Spencer Keith hit Sam Kirkland on an 81 yard bomb to tie the game at 14 at the half. The Falcons would score on their first possession in the second half to take a 21-14 lead. With under 20 seconds left in the 3rd quarter and the Falcons leading 21-14 Kent State head coach Darrell Hazel allowed offensive coordinator Ryan Lee to roll the dice and go for a 4th and 10 from the Bowling Green 32 yard line. The gamble paid off as Lee called the perfect play as Keith hooked up with Kendrick Pressley on a 28 yard pass to set up 1st and goal from the 4 to start the fourth quarter. The 4th quarter would belong to the Flashes as Spencer Keith hooked up with tight end Justin Thompson on a 4 yard strike to tie the game at the start of the 4th. The Flashes defense stood tall giving them the ball back with a chance to take the lead in the 4th. Backup running back Dru Archer filled in nicely for injured starter Jacquiese Terry who again left the game in the first quarter with an injury. Archer capped off another drive with a 20 yard touchdown run to give the Flashes a 28-21 lead. The Flashes defense stood tall yet again setting up Coach Lee's offense with a chance to ice the game a curious decision to throw the ball kept the Falcons hopes alive when Spencer Keith threw his third interception of the game. The Kent State defense would answer the bell yet again giving the Flashes the ball inside the Bowling Green 20. Dru Archer would run in a 10 yard score to ice the game with 16 seconds and sent the Kent State faithful home happy with a 35-21 win. The Flashes improve to 2-1 on the season and next week they hit the road and face Kansas State in their final tune up before Big Ten play.

Coach Lee's quote " I am very pleased with how we were able to bounce back from last weeks horrid performance and boy it feels good to pick up another rivalry victory. Dri Archer was a beast for us this afternoon filling in for Jacquiese and going for 100 and 2 scores was huge. The play that was key was when Spencer shook off throwing his 2nd interception and hit Sammie on that 81 yard bomb before the half. I was going to just take a knee and go into the half down only one score but Spencer begged me to let him take a shot and boy that sure did play off. Next week we travel to Kansas State and we will have to bring this type of effort into Manhattan to be successful."
