Alright, as Coach Kernzy works on and finishes up the OD Roster later on, what is the official Alma Mater for everyone so we can get those added to the roster as well?
For myself, my Alma Mater is going to be :Navy:.

Well I can't really decide yet. If we're not doing any restrictions I am going to choose one of the better teams but I would like to wait and decide when I have the full game. Reason being I like recruiting so the school I choose to where I ultimately would like to end up will be decided on the school's recruiting topics ratings. I don't have a favorite team so I usually just choose what looks good to me. I have to wait until I get a copy in my hands to see each schools recruiting topic scores and what not. I have some teams in mind though just want to compare them.

Yeah, I just don't see any point in restrictions. Besides the stuff that was already talked about at length between a couple of us in the original thread, hardly anyone is going for a yearly BCS championship contending school. I'm going for Navy. Mors has mentioned West Virginia. Hawkfan mentioned Iowa. This isn't some random run of the mill dynasty where everyone is trying to take over Alabama, Oregon, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, Texas, and Oklahoma, so I see absolutely no reason to restrict who people can make as their Alma Mater.

You treat it like how I treat the Vikings huh? I can't play with them cuz it frustrates me to see them play so much unlike IRL. Especially when we had the #1 rush defense behind Pat and Kevin for that three year stretch and then on Madden it was like I couldn't stop a second string runningback to save my life. -_-

Yep I have done an Iowa dynasty once, and it resulted in a hole in the wall from a thrown controller and my wife not speaking to me for three days. Not going down that road again.

Yeah this whole alma mater thing is tough for me as well. Didn't ever go to any actual university but I've gone to school close to Kansas and Arizona St. But on the other hand some of my earliest memories of really following college ball were watching two of my favorite players, Barry Sanders at OK St and Deion Sanders at Florida St.
Probably pick one of those 4 but don't know for sure.

Probably pick one of those 4 but don't know for sure.I never watched much college football, and don't really now either, but I like Oklahoma State. I've read up on them and Barry Sanders days there and I like their logo and colors. They also seem to be producing a lot of NFL talent lately which is really the extent of my College Football coverage IRL.
Florida State is also a great school with some great traditions and a long history of producing NFL talent. I played a dynasty as them a couple weeks back after my team drafted Christian Ponder and I enjoyed it. Good recruiting but not too OP.
I like Arizona States looks and colors but I've never played as them. I did play as Arizona last year though in one of my OD's.
Can't really say much about Kansas other than I don't know much about them. I like the colors though.
As for me I'm considering like 6 or so team right now... Maryland, Oregon, Wisconsin, TCU, Michigan, Virginia Tech, and a few others but I'll definitely decide before we get it started.
My Alma Mater is WVU.
It would be interesting if I chose Maryland as my Alma Mater and we both made it to our schools. They have a rivalry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryland_%E2%80%93_West_Virginia_football_rivalry) .

I'm going to go with my favorite player of all time from my home state, Barry Sanders from Wichita, KS and claim 4* Oklahoma St as my alma mater. Plus I played as Ok St in one of my old 06-07 xbox dynasties back when they had Tatum Bell at HB and Aso Pogi at QB. I can't believe I still remember that name but damn how can you forget it. Good times.

I have a friend that I had sign up for this site, he posted in my Coach Mode dynasty thread. If Cody is out and nobody else expresses interest I'm sure he would join. He's more of a Madden player but I'm getting him into NCAA this year and he likes strategy games and plays a lot of them so he'll enjoy a Coach Mode only dynasty. He's going to :UCF: so that'll probably be his Alma Mater.

Exactly mors and let that be a reminder to everyone that we are a dedicated, active core group here and anyone that just goes MIA without letting someone know will get replaced.
We are casually paced but we still want to be active here on the forums and in the game to keep things moving but we all understand things come up and life happens. This is just a game and we will treat it as such but be respectful of your fellow owners and let us know if you are going to be away for awhile or whatever the case may be.

You don't have to worry about me not being active. The only way I will be is if I lose interest and before that I'de let you all know I'm leaving but I think this is going to be my favorite dynasty so if we can keep it active and fair I'll definitely be here until the end.

Yep, active people in the forum makes everything better. If I wanted to just being in an OD where you just play the games and there is no talking between the members, I'd go join some random OD on the internet. The conversations and joking between users is what makes these ODs fun.

Do it! :D We're already battling each other to avoid being in last place of all the teams in Florida with FAU and FIU. Why not extend it to the battle for the Alma Mater with Navy. :D Then if you beat me to it, I can schedule Navy each year and ruin your record until they fire you, then I can swoop in to the coaching position and save the day. :D

Yes it is. Honestly, without coaching carousel, even with a full fledged coach mode, I don't know if this dynasty would be as fun as it will be without CC to make things extremely interesting along the way.

Gnarlymutt (Coach Davis) is my brother-in-law. He's the one I've talked about having great fun with our coach mode dynasties back in the day with NCAA 06 and 07 on the old Xbox. We'd get together and spend full days and pull all-nighters on those games. Some good times had and I'm hoping that NCAA 12 can bring back those best of times.
I'll get you added man, stay in touch.

Good times indeed! From the Ok State/Texas tech days, through FSU/Miami (after several promotions) and even the old Ark St./MTST days, we had our share of hard fought games. Looking forward to watching things progress early on for the league, and hopefully catching on at some point.
Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure I've had Coach Kernzy's number as of late, so if anyone needs any gameplan assistance, just holler! ;-)
Coach Kernzy
07-11-2011, 08:51 AM
Very true, towards the end of our times with those games he was beating me most every time we met, once I think knocked me out of a title shot when I was FSU and he was Miami. I remember I had a great running team with a great running QB but he would always make that one or two big mistakes either throwing an INT or fumbling and it would kill me. Funny the things you remember.
Hope to have you around early and often man.
Gnarlymutt
07-11-2011, 09:20 AM
The things we remember indeed... Fumbles plagued you for a while. I remember a specific drive were you were inside my 10 yardline with under a minute to go and were down by 1 or 2. A FG secured the victory for your Seminoles, and we both knew the game was over. You ran your stud RB to the left side for FG positioning purposes and he fumbled, losing the game for you, and maybe the ACC title as well. That might have been my 1st NCAA Championship year if I remember right. :-). Good times for sure!

Good morning, all! Sorry to see some attrition here, but very thankful and excited to be on board. Looks like it's already been posted / mentioned, but I'll be taking over the Utah State Aggies out of the WAC. I seriously debated some of the MAC (Kent State?) and (particularly) C-USA (UAB?) options out there (I graduated from Houston, so I'm naturally a C-USA guy... wait... I just threw up in my mouth a little bit after I typed that... what I meant to say was I'm naturally a SWC guy, but... yeah...).
I guess I'm running scared grabbing a WAC team. :-)
Utah State, with the relative talent they have in a relatively weak conference, I thought gave me the best opportunity to be mildly successful from the get go. A decent tailback that's a JR also played into my decision making as I tend to be a smash-mouth coach to the extent that I'm overly predictable and easy to prepare for (get in line for a non-conference game now!). Hopefully I didn't misread anything in the ol' teambuilder rosters. I'll hit up the predictions thread here in a bit. I looked at the schedule before I picked 'em. It ain't pretty, but none of our situations are.
Very much looking forward to it!
