You are very active on PS3....are you a PS+ member? Do you buy much DLC? That's surprising you didn't get it.

I am a PS+ member but I don't buy "allot" on PSN. I've rented several movies and bought one movie. I bought a few online passes for games I played used via GameFly and maybe 1-2 full games but that's about it so I'm not surprised they didn't give me $10 as most of my downloads via PSN are of the free variety.

Probably purchased about 100 games through PSN not counting Plus. Had 3 PS3s - 2 that broke and the one I have now. I've been a member since the day the PS3 launched. I've also been a Plus member since the day that launched. I have a Vita(but so does JB). I don't know what their criteria is. Perhaps it's when you registered for your PS3 account. When did you guys sign up?

Some were saying $5 vouchers went out last week to some. Maybe you guys are getting free PS4s? ;)

The funny thing is when Microsoft does something like that, I ALWAYS get it and I've only been a member on that service for 5 years. I've been with Sony for going on 7 and this is the first time I've gotten anything from them.

Speaking of oddities ... I went to download the free Dust 514 add-on through PS Plus tonight, and it asked me to choose between a free add-on and a $9.99 add-on. Chose the free, went through the checkout process ... but I don't remember seeing it actually install anything. And it doesn't show on my download list. And now the only option is the $9.99 choice. It's ... weird.

It's a service thing Dust 514 recognizes when you log on. You don't have to download anything, so you did it correctly.

Go to Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List > Dust 514.

If you see Dust 514 PS+ Starter Pack, you did it right.

Disgaea 1 was AMAZING, after that, it got a bit too ridiculous. Of course, I have to quantify that by saying I literally spent 140 hours playing Disgaea 1 before I finally stopped and "beat" the game (which has to be further quantified by saying that you didn't actually beat the game until you killed some ridiculous hidden boss that required you to play for, at least, 70 hours leveling up and bettering your weapons and characters).

Started messing with The Show this morning doing a little whoring and the trophies popped in game and show up when I look at the game's trophies but they aren't showing up in my total trophy count. Anyone ever seen this before?

this morning an issue with my ps3 started. the XMB is fine but when I play games it doesn't utilize the full screen. it is off centered slightly and there are several inches of room on the left and right of the screen where it is just black. any ideas?

Someone's getting screwed regardless. 2am to 7am here in the US is 2pm to 7pm (or any other times you want to use) somewhere elsewhere in the world. Think of it this way though, at least they're doing it on a Monday, when most people in the US would be at work or school. They could have been major dicks and done it on Saturday or Sunday.

What do you mean by split and have two accounts active? You can have multiple accounts on the PS3.

He means multiple accounts split screen at the same time. On a very limited number of games, yes. I do not believe Call of Duty is one of them. You can have a second controller as a guest, but I'm not sure you can play online that way.

As of, oh, right now, there should be a prompt on your PS3 asking you to upgrade to 4.45. Whatever you do, don't accept it. Not yet, anyway.

We've started getting reports from readers that the update is bricking their system, locking their consoles on the boot-up "ribbon" screen, and a thread on Sony's official forums shows the issue is far from isolated.

It's obviously not locking up everyone's console, but there are enough already affected that you won't want to roll the dice.

Thanks for the tip. A good idea to unplug the ethernet cord to prevent the auto-update from taking place overnight too.

Sony pulled the firmware update the next day on Wednesday, and then it was announced last Friday that there would be a new patch out today to fix what was broken in the previous patch.

All you have to do is read the last page of the thread, it was all spelled out over the last week.

Spider Man has been under $20 at multiple retailers (and isn't even worth that). Batman has been $5 before, so they're on par there. The Mortal Kombat titles are one of the good prices. Prince of Persia has been $5 for the disc version multiple times (even saw it for $2 on Amazon a few weeks ago). The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection has been $10 before, so $7.50 for one of them really isn't that good. Ratchet and Clank Collection I bought for $10 about 3 months ago.

Fast & Furious Showdown isn't worth 2 cents, and I'm sure it's been lower. Star Trek, same thing. Men in Black, same thing. The Simpsons Arcade was $5 on PSN several months ago. Servers for MAG, SOCOM 4, and SOCOM: Confrontation are shutting down on January 28, 2014, Sony has announced. As it stands, the server shutdowns will essentially make MAG and Confrontation obsolete, due to their reliance on online play.

The news follows the closure of MAG and SOCOM studio Zipper Interactive last year. When asked then about future SOCOM entries, Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida said his company never retires a franchise. Nonetheless, today's news will sound like a death knell for fans of the long-running shooter series, and certainly as one for MAG, which will go offline two days short of its fourth birthday.

Speaking of this, it's just another story of "Sony has a good idea, but completely fucks up in execution." No one is going to win those things legitimately because it's already clear that Sony isn't monitoring this for the fuckers who hack their systems and instantly unlocks all trophies for any game.

The first auction ended and the user "REDSOXFAN95" won it. If you take a gander at his stats here (http://psntrophyleaders.com/user/view/REDSOXFAN95), you'll see that the vast majority of his trophies are unlocked at the same time for his respective games. For example, click on Black Ops 2 and notice how most of his trophies were unlocked on January 2nd literally seconds apart. Dishonored all unlocked at the exact same time. Killzone 3 is the same way. Hell, most of his games are the same way.

It's really lame that Sony doesn't monitor those in the first place (Xbox Live bans the morons as they should be), and it's really, REALLY lame that Sony holds a contest like this and allows the cheaters to win.

Just got back, the trade in took awhile as I had a ton of 360 stuff and wanted to try and pay for everything I got today. Came up $30 short but I was actually happy with my Gamespot experience, a rarity for me.

Only bougt two games back NCAA Football 14 and GTA V from my 360 library (though I bought the GTA 500GB system so it was a wash). Got Uncharted 2, 3, The Last of Us, MLB 13 and they actually had a used copy of NCAA Basketball 10 for $30 so I did a happy dance as that sucker is hard to find and hard to find cheap. The great thing is I can put this in my bedroom once I get a PS4 so I can have the two NCAA games whenever I get the itch.

Will do but I had to get Rain and Hot Shots World Tour First. On a side note I did not want Flower, I wanted Journey. Already played Flower. Not to mention the lengthy installs and patches to the games I already have. I do hope the PS4 learns from the 360 to make patches quick and downloads not require a second "install" step.

Oh how I missed you Hot Shots Golf. So much more fun than TW and it does so many little things like multiple camera options on the fly and picking up grass to check the wind speed. If you loved the previous HS games download the digital version of the Vita game. $20 and there are 8 courses (plus mirrors) and 1 additional DLC course that was really sharp.

Anyone familiar with error code 80029564? I have two games that will not let me install the updates Uncharted 3 and NCAA 14. Ironically NCAA started out as another code (timeout error) and then turned into this. Both crash at 14% everytime now and I am started to get a little agitated having spent 6 freaking hours doing mostly install and repeating the two above. I was using wireless which appears to be some issue with Sony but I even tried wired and no change.

I still believe that because of some server issues you are downloading corrupted files. I just did some research around and it points out this way. Did you do port forwarding on your router? ?t might help.

Sometimes what happeens is when the server is really busy you download a file. You see that the full size is downloaded but it doesnt install because the download was corrupted. probably this is happening to you now.

Try again tomorrow. Download and install. Delete the broken downloads from your PS3.

I have tried everything, port openings, went through tech support, etc. Nothing works and it might just be best to wait a day or so and see if it happens again. I would consider another router but my other wireless toys are just fine.

Delete the game data for the game that's having problems. Go into your recovery menu and Rebuild Database. Reboot and then try to download it again. It does that shit to me ALL the time, especially on big downloads. Really annoying.

Did that with Tech Support (recovery menu and even went straight wired) and no luck. I delete the corrupt data every time I try.

Did you delete the actual game data for the game though? I'm not talking about the corrupted data, but rather the file under the Game Data folder. If you're trying to get the update for Uncharted 3, make sure there are no files for Uncharted 3 in that folder. After that, then Rebuild Database and try again.

If you've already tried that, then waiting a few days is probably your only option. Never heard of rebuilding the database not fixing that problem before.

Everything NCAA 14 and UC 3 related are deleted each time. We rebuilt the database and something else from that menu, nada, squat.

It was the thing I hated when I owned my previous two PS3's but that was just the large ass install files for game updates and having to download and install things. I never had any of these error messages before.

Vita is the exact same way with downloading and installing. I'd say it's 50/50 with whether or not it's that way for PS4.

Just an update after multiple calls to Sony Tech, formatting my HD, going into safe mode for the umpteenth time, I finally got the NCAA 14 patch to download and install.

Not the traditional way but actually downloading an update in the background.

Numerous titles losing online access in the weeks and months to come:

Gran Turismo 5 and the Resistance franchise will be pulling the online plug in early 2014. Sony has announced that Gran Turismo 5 will conclude its online features on May 20, 2014, with the Resistance franchise on PlayStation 3 following on March 28.

Also, as of January 28, 2014, the online connectivity of MAG, SOCOM: Special Forces and SOCOM: Confrontation will also cease to be. Since MAG and SOCOM: Confrontation are online only, we hope you enjoy your new coasters.

PlayStation will soon enter the HBO Go family, with apps for the service coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Home Box Office CEO Richard Plepler announced the news at the first Buzzfeed Brews event in New York.

With the app, HBO cable subscribers can enjoy unlimited on-demand content. According to a post on the official PlayStation Blog, the app is "coming soon" and will arrive first on PS3 before eventually making its way to the PlayStation 4. A timetable was not shared, but the announcement made mention of the impending fourth season of Game of Thrones, which will begin in April.

The Xbox 360 is currently the only video game console with HBO Go access, featuring special second-screen content alongside select videos.

After every other "fix" failed I formatted the HD using my pc. Works fine now :glare:
