Damn, damn, damn. Why does it have to be PS3 only? :(Most commonly rumored reason (may have been a quote somewhere, not sure) is that Microsoft wasn't willing to allow what CCP wanted to do onto the XBL network. Same reason why Portal 2's Steamworks stuff is only on PS3. Might also have something to do with microtransactions, not sure.

It's a great idea, but MAG left a really bad taste in my mouth of how hard a shooter based on MMO principles will fail when the player count starts to dwindle, so I'm not even going to mess with it. When it comes to PS3 exclusive shooters, they all bomb at release or are completely dead within 3 months.

MAG was an amazing game that died solely because of the lack of population, and I have no doubt that's going to happen with this, which is unfortunate because it looks and sounds awesome.

Doesn't matter, MAG was free to play up until a certain level and it was still dead within a few months. MAG was legitimately free, too, unlike this which is heavily reliant on microtransactions, which is going to be a huge turn off to competitive players. I also don't think they'll like the idea of the world still continuing once they turn their game off.

To me, it's not worth getting into a game only to be unable to find a game a few months after launch whether it's free or $60. Hopefully I'm wrong and it is a bigger success than MAG.

Do you have to have a pretty bad ass computer for it?EVE? Nah. It has a wide range of settings that can be changed pretty drastically. The only thing you have to be particularly careful of is that sometimes your settings can prevent you from participating in some of the larger events (like fleet-sized battles). But that's not a problem for the people (like myself) who don't really want to participate in those events anyway.

Though, obviously, if you can max it out, the game looks gorgeous.

Recommended system configuration for running EVE Online:
OS: Windows® XP Service Pack 2 / Vista / 7
CPU: Intel Pentium® or AMD dual core @ 2 Ghz or greater which supports SSE2
RAM: 2 GB
HD space: 20Gb Free Space
Network: ADSL connection or faster
Video: ATi Radeon 5750 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Drivers: DirectX® 9.0c (included) and latest video drivers
DVD-ROM : 2 speed DVD reader or greater required.
The minimum screen resolution for EVE is 1024x768.

:D Seriously? I didn't even look at the thread. I saw you were the last one to post so I figured you had taken care of it. I had the flu the first 2 weeks of March so it didn't even cross my mind. Looks like I'm going to have a lot of work to do next week.

Regular maintenance is a necessary part of operating a service such as PSN. As part of our efforts to continue to deliver you a world-class online entertainment experience on your PS3 and PS Vita devices, we will be performing maintenance on the network on Thursday, May 24th, starting at approximately 8:00 am PDT / 10:00 am EDT and concluding around 11:00pm PDT / 2:00am EDT.

During this maintenance period, you may receive a message that states “PlayStation Network is undergoing maintenance” when attempting to access the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Home. Online play will not be affected and you will be able to enjoy apps such as Netflix and Amazon Instant Video during this maintenance as well, provided that you have signed into the network within 5 days prior to the start of the maintenance period.

boooo, I'm glad they changed their mindI imagine they'll still be very download-oriented but just simply offer discs as a backup solution. So long as they offer pre-load capability like Steam does (download all except 1 small file prior to day of launch), then I'll go with download in most cases.

JeffHCross
05-30-2012, 06:43 PM
I won't support a download-only console concept until they open up the market and allow competition. If Sony (or the third-party publisher) has control over the price point, we won't see half the deals we have now.

E3 2012: Dust 514, the Deepest FPS You’ve Ever Played

The immersion begins with the obscene amount of customization available for each player. Describing these customization features as mere “loadouts” wouldn’t do Dust 514 its due justice, because in reality, it goes so far beyond picking a primary and secondary weapon and some perks. From curative devices and explosives to the creation and customization of all manner of vehicle, customization permutations are virtually endless. And most interestingly, all items are “real,” meaning that if you lose a vehicle in battle, you lose it for good. If your character dies during a firefight with a certain assault rifle equipped, that assault rifle disappears. So you better buy a bunch of them.

The economic reality of eventually losing everything means that teamwork on the ground is far more than just organic. It’s outright necessary if you want to successfully complete contracts for EVE Online players while earning enough money to supplement anything you lost and perhaps even turn a profit (though it’s worth noting that player-versus-environment contracts can also be garnered to buff out needed funds). In this sense, Dust 514 creates a climate of economic ramifications. Respawning on a map to give it another go isn’t simply a matter of pressing the X button and waiting 10 seconds, but rather having the necessary funds to purchase the pertinent items needed to outfit your character for success.

I'm pretty sure that with PS3 system updates I can download them to a computer and then transfer them to the PS3. Anyone know if this is also possible for game updates. It doesn't ask that option when I try to get the update. It's for the massive Bf3 patch.

Not unless you want to try all of these steps in setting up your PC as a proxy server....

Otherwise, it's not as cut and dry as the system updates unfortunately.

Another option is to get PS+ it donwloads and installs the patches automatically for you once a day at a time you set (i.e. mine is 10am to sync trophies, download patches, upload saves to the cloud, etc.)

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/25/psa-ps3-firmware-update-4-20-drops-tomorrow/

The last firmware update for the PS3, version 4.10, added an audio option allowing players to hear their own voice echoed through the new Wireless Stereo Headset peripheral. Since implementing the feature, Sony has heard some complaints; this new firmware update, version 4.20, will add new audio options.

If you're using a Wireless Stereo Headset, you will be able to either turn the functionality completely off, or you can select from one of five different levels of intensity, the PlayStation Blog says. Sony will also add an option for virtual surround sound when using the Wireless Stereo Headset to watch Blu-ray or DVD movies when the update drops tomorrow.

Other non-audio additions include more flexibility when setting how long before the system will shut itself down, and an the option to manage save files in bulk.

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my PS3 hard drive. Bought a WD 320GB SATA drive since I heard/read that 320GB is the sweet spot for PS3 hd's. Also had to get a Seagate 500GB portable hard drive to do the backup. Wasn't too happy about that but I guess it beats getting a new PS3...I can also use the portable drive to automatically back up my laptop, since I lost mulitiple beats and various music files due to having 2 laptops crash over the years.

Escobar, I'll be curious about your backup/restore/upgrade results. I've been considering upgrading my HDD, but I know there are certain files that can't be backed up using the normal backup method, and so I'm a little hesitant to do it with as much data as I've got right now.

Escobar

So it took longer than I expected buy my system was back up and running after about 5 hours. It took forever to take the screws off of the hard drive. They were a B*. After I got home from work was the first official time I decided to hop on and mess around after restoring the system. Just make sure you have the firmware update on your backup drive or you will have to wait to download it from the PC as the PS3 will not boot up w/o it.

Playing NCAA I had to redownload the online pass, but that was no problem. It seemed that the initial time files were read it took longer, but that could be from it trying to find the file in a different sector on a bigger hard drive. Once I accessed a file, subsequent times after it loaded up faster than when using the stock hd. My custom playbook however still maintained it's formations but introduced several blank spots which made it take alot longer to switch base formations (ie Shotgun to Pistol). Then came the freeze when I tried to do a formation audible on offense, so I cut the game off and will wait until '13 pretty much since I'm getting the Season Pass.

My trophies are going to take forever to sync so I still haven't done that yet, but when you play a game it syncs that games trophies to your system. Everything in XMB looks exactly the same as before on my old hard drive. Same themes and custom icons I set for my User logins.

I played Rock Band 2 and all my songs and DLC were still there (I heard there was a problem w/ copying copy protected files) but I think they fixed this issue with firmware 3.56 2nd release.

Had to start LBP under my 2nd account, because that's the one I dl'd it under for free. Once I did that I hopped back on regular account and all my progress was there along with my DLC and unlockables. They just re-registered as new/unused items with the green glow (no problem there).

All in all, very successful with no hiccups and no problems of missing dlc, game saves, or downloaded games that I previously read could be issues. It seems that games that run off the hard drive and reading files from the hd have improved speed/performance.

Escobar

After playing the NCAA '13 demo it definitely runs faster and smoother. I loaded up the demo, went through the menus, and started the oregon vs usc game about 10-15 seconds faster than on my old hd. There were no stutters or pauses when loading menus like I had before...it was very much improved

Why did the Laugh Factory Xross the Media Bar? We're stopping right there, before even coming up with a horrible ending to that joke, before this fun news gets depressing. LA's Laugh Factory comedy club will release its own streaming video app on PS3 September 1, allowing you to watch both recorded and live performances from stand-ups.

Through November, all the content will be free. Starting in December, if you want to enjoy the streaming comedy, it'll cost $3 a month. Feel free to institute your own two-drink minimum, and perhaps hire a local comic to warm up the room (your living room) before you start the show. You know, to make sure you get the most from your subscription.

I can't say exactly what some of the problems are because of the NDA, but if you've played other shooters before, it'll slap you right in the face the very first time you spawn. I'm sure a lot of it will get fixed, though.

Hey PS2 fans, PCSX2 1.0 is out (http://www.zdnet.com/hey-ps2-fans-pcsx2-1-0-is-out-7000002158/)
Summary: After over a decade of development, version 1.0 of PCSX2, an open-source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator, has finally been made available for Windows and Linux. You know what to do.

The YouTube app is pretty nice, though if you have a lot of your own playlists, or subscriptions, then the menu is probably going to be ridiculous. For me, it's pretty manageable.

I couldn't find any obvious way to search for playlists within the App, so I found it easier to just save other people's playlists as my own, and then access them that way.

Certainly an upgrade over YouTube XL. Only thing I had a problem with was that all the videos I was watching claimed to be 720p. It was obvious some of them weren't. Couldn't tell if it was the source or something in the App.

Found this on YouTube. Sounds like it works. I'll lose my data, but what I really want is in the cloud.

How To Fix PS3 Stuck On 99% Update loop

1. Turn on PS3
2. Wait until installing occurs and pull out old HDD at 0%
3. Error should occur(let it run the count down and let PS3 restart itself)
4. You should be seeing a "press PS3 button on controller screen". On that screen put your new HDD in the PS3 AND have USB with update on it in the PS3.
5. Let it look for the update on the usb and download it / let the PS3 restart itself
6. Now you should be seeing the "press PS3 button on controller screen" again (don't worry)
7. Let the PS3 reformat your new HDD and let PS3 restart itself
8. After the reformatting it should reinstall the update using your USB again
9. If it worked you should see a screen with a PS3 to the ps3's,
10. Congrats you got your ps3 back:)

Well that didn't work, so I'm going to try this now before sending it to Sony.

Alright, I got it at last with these steps people.
1. Unpluged ps3, and removed hdd.
2. Plugged hdd into a external hdd enclosure, and plugged that into my pc.
3. Opened up Computer Management (look it up people) > Storage > Disk Management. Then I found my hdd, right clicked it and chose format, follow the utility choosing NTFS as file system, default allocation, and do a FULL FORMAT. Let it sit, its gonna take awhile, especially if your using USB 2.0.
4. Stay in Disk Management, right click your drive, click "Mark Partition as Active"
5. Pop the hdd back into the ps3 and go to recovery.
6. Choose "Update System"
7. Get a flash drive and put PS3UPDAT.PUP on it. read it on Sony's web site, search "ps3 firmware" on google if you need to.
8. Plug in flash drive to ps3, hit start + select. It will then bitch and say it needs to format the hard disk. Hold start + select till the process starts.
9. Congrats! firmware should flash and start its process.
P.S. This will fix the following errors: 8002F281, "The hard disk cannot be accessed", or "Correct hard disk was not found"

A lot of games use it to automatically upload newest game saves to the cloud. If your hard drive were to become corrupted or something else that would cause the data to be lost, you could just copy the latest saves from the cloud back to your hard drive and not have to restart everything. It's basically a backup.

SUCCESS!!!!!!! :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

Basically the fix was:

a) Get a HDD Enclosure and format and old SATA drive with your PC.
b) Put that formatted drive into your PS3 and let the system format and run a system update.
c) Shut off the PS3, swap in your current hard drive
d) Update to the latest system software.

And the best part, I didn't lose any data. Won't have to re-download all of the PSN games and etc.

I guess I really meant "set it with the games I care about". Obviously I'm not going to set it for PSN I don't give two craps about. But right now I'm really selective about what I manually copy up there. With a full gig, I can be a little less selective.

I'm still not likely to do it for, say, NCAA (because other than the profile and roster, most stuff can be re-created easily enough, and all those Heisman Challenge files would take up a ton of space), but like Ratchet & Clank? Or ME3 when I get it? Easier just to set those to the cloud.

Sony's never been that great about keeping redesigned video game hardware a secret, so it's no surprise that the much rumored PlayStation 3 model debuted this evening at Tokyo Game Show.

Sleeker and slimmer, the new PS3 comes in "charcoal black," but Japan gets the super-special "classic white" option. Sony says that the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 is less than half of the original system. It's 20 percent and 25 percent less volume/weight compared to the current PS3 Slim.

Different regions will see different versions of the systems along with different prices.

North America

250GB - $269 (Bundle Only) - September 25th
500GB - $299 - October 30th

Europe and PAL Territories

Flash Memory 12GB - 229 Euros - October 12th
500GB - 299 Euros - September 28th

Japan

250GB - 24,900 Yen - October 4th
500GB - 29,800 Yen - October 4th

I had a launch 360 last me clear up until I got my Gears of War 3 version slim last winter and the only reason I upgraded at that point was because of an amazing deal. It was still working just fine and so far my Gears one has been great...no problems.

On the flip side, I had a launch PS3 die after a year a couple days. I had another fat model die after a year and a few days. I then even went as far as having a slim die after only a year and 5 or 6 days. It was the bluray drive each and every single time. That's one of the reasons I can't wait until Microsoft and Sony both start becoming more accepting of digital content delivery.

Yeah, I've had pretty good luck with my 360s. My first 360, the disc drive started going bad after a couple years, getting stuck and being a bitch to actually get to open up to remove or insert discs, but other than that, there were no issues with it. And no problems whatsoever so far with my new 360 slim that I got last year. Some of my friends with 360s have had 3 or 4 of 5 different 360s since launch.

I've always had a theory that while there were design flaws that caused overheating, a lot of the issues with 360s dying(especially 4 or 5 times or more) were user caused, aka not giving the back of the system enough room to blow air or even sitting the thing on carpet. I've always given all my systems plenty of room to breathe on a wooden surface and I've never, ever had any overheating problems of any kind. I think if people would actually learn how to take care of their shit, there would have been a lot less broken 360s.

I mean, I've heard of people going through 7 or 8 360s in a 5 year period. There's absolutely no way they're not doing something to break it themselves.

I've only went through one PS3 and one 360. My fat PS3 got the YLOD, but I sold it for $150 on eBay. My first 360 was used, and two weeks later RROD'd, but the seller offered a 30 day warranty thankfully, and that other system is still kicking as I sold it to CDJ when I bought an Elite. I use an old school wooden TV cart to put both systems on.

I'm technically on my 4th.

My first console I returned within 30 days because my USB ports wouldn't work.
I replaced my second one around the time slims were launched because I was afraid it was failing when it would freeze at the exact same spot on LBP every time despite every troubleshooting step, plus Gamestop was having a big trade-in credit.
Most recently I replaced my 3rd one last year because if I removed a disc, I would have to finagle with it in order to play a Blu-Ray disc and around that time Amazon had a good sale so I jumped on it.

Yeah, I've always kept my 360s off by themselves with my game collection on a wooden desk next to my TV/entertainment center. It's sitting on top so it's completely open air, nothing around it on any side, nothing that would cause it to overheat. Plus I have a floor fan in the same room that I almost always have running on at least low to keep air circulating and to just keep the room cooled down in general.

Did they have an update that increased the time it takes to install a downloaded game or something? It takes FOREVER for my games to install. I just installed a 108MB game and it took 2 minutes. I realize that may not sound like much, but for a file that small, that's a really long time. Anything over 1GB easily takes 15 minutes. Maybe it's because I haven't used my PS3 in awhile, but I don't remember it taking anywhere near that long to install anything.

I went through 1 PS3. Bought my original FAT one back in 2006 I believe? After 2 of my 360's crapped out.

My FAT one went out twice, once the beginning of this year and just recently about a month or so ago. Was able to fix it with no problem but still decided to get a new slim one 2 weeks ago.

Of course I took meticulously good care of mine, cleaning it out every so often, letting it "cool" a bit before shutting it down, etc. Although I didn't do that the entire time of owning it, probably the last 3 years or so.

It wasn't obvious to me, until my launch PS3 YLOD'd, how little air flow was going through it. Not like a PC, where I knew exactly what was going on internally (how many fans I had, internal temp, etc).

My friend's 360 RROD'd when I was trying to install a Guitar Hero that was failing to play from the disc to her HD. It was on the carpet, but I don't think that was the cause. I think it was just a freak thing.

Figured out my problem. It only goes that slow when I'm downloading something else while installing. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but okay. It's probably poor memory management. By the way, I love these collections. I'm probably going to end up having most of them since I never got around to playing a lot of them when they were released individually.

95% of my gaming on PS2, especially on the tail end of the console was sports gaming. I just got the Ratchet And Clank Collection too, another series I haven't played.

now the ps3 screws up with madden in it when you try to log out/turn off from psn account management ....? sighThis hasn't happened to me. Played last night and logged out, quit game with no problem.

I was having the problem with all games not just Madden prior to doing that method.

How do you quit from Madden on PS3 then? I ended up swapping copies because my stupid 360 wont stay connected to my WiFi anymore, and every time I quit the game it quadruple x 12 beeps my PS3 until it turns off.

Yeah, JB, 90% of my PS2 gaming was good ol' NCAA Football. The other 10% was the amazing SOCOM II.

I just got the Ratchet And Clank Collection too, another series I haven't played. You were missing out. Glad to hear you picked it up ... personally I think the Ratchet & Clank series was the best first-party series on PS2, and the PS3 series upped the ante. If R&C had come out (and been technically feasible) on the PS1, I think Rachet (or Clank) would be the PS mascot.

Yes, I'm a huge, undeniable fanboi of the series.

I just played one when I got the game for free on PS3 and I honestly couldn't stop playing it. Reminded me of a Mega Man like experience from the NES days but with a TON of funny humor in the cut scenes/story line.

I've only played a Crack in Time and I had a blast with that so I'm sure I'll be picking up that collection once I'm done with God of War. Sony is genius for releasing these collections. I almost creamed my pants when they announced the original Killzone in HD with trophy support and I'm looking forward to that coming out next month more so than I am any other game in the foreseeable future. If they really want to impress me, give me a SOCOM collection with 1 & 2 with a HD overhaul, trophies, and then online for S2 WITHOUT MESSING WITH IT. I've heard rumors of them doing something involving the past SOCOM games, especially recently, so my fingers are crossed.

I would be willing to seriously buy a PS3 if they released a SOCOM HD collection. I still have SOCOM and SOCOM II sitting in a box somewhere. My PS2 is still hooked up and sitting on top of my DVD player. I may have to hunt down SOCOM II sometime and relive some of the past spent playing it.

Well I don't want to start a conspiracy theory, but all signs are pointing to an imminent remake. I follow SOCOM very closely and while it once appeared that the stars would have to align to get Sony to realize how much everyone loves the old SOCOM games, it appears they're starting to align.

On the Blog.Share where people share what they want, SOCOM I and II remakes have been at the top since the beginning of the program. Items like God of War and Ico remakes were on the list but behind SOCOM and they got made, so it makes you think Sony does actually listen to that feedback. Shortly after Zipper Interactive was shut down, one of the old employees of the team made an account on the SOCOM forums and posted about how they were basically forced to create a Call of Duty clone with S4 by Sony. When asked whether they were looking at an HD remake while he was there, he very clearly stated Sony had begun looking at the code for a possible remake months prior.

A few months after the closing of Zipper Interactive, the Sony President literally said "SOCOM is not dead" and that was only a few months ago.

Then when Sony made a blog post about the recently announced "Playstation Collections," one of the users asked about a possible collection with the old SOCOM games. Not only did he get a response, but it was a juicy little cryptic response:

Thanks for the heads up Cristian ! I’ll be sure to play these! Theres far to much focus on realism and graphics now days! Its great to be able to have that old school gameplay back! Its would be awesome to get a HD SOCOM US NAVY SEALS! The new socoms just dont even compare to the amazing gameplay of socom 1 and 2! Are there any plans for this Cristian? Thanks in advance!

I couldn’t tell you, even if I knew. We will have more to add to this line, though. That’s all I can say =)

Page 3 Comment 132 (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/08/06/never-stop-playing-with-playstation-collections/comment-page-3/#comment-741082)

As if all these recent comments/events weren't enough, just last month Sony FINALLY shut down the servers for all the PS2 SOCOM games right on the 10th anniversary of the first game. Like I said, I very well could be wrong, but it seems as though the stars are aligning to me.

I guess it depends on how much they choose to charge for ME1. ME3 on Black Friday could still be a good call (since I already have ME2).

Couldn't care less about the front-end (I don't mind the front page), because if they don't figure out how to make their content easier to find, any front-end change won't matter. Their "New Releases" used to be easy. "PS Plus" used to be easy. Now both are horribly difficult to sort through. If it wasn't for IGN's summary of all the changes to the Store, I wouldn't have a clue what was new on the Store, because I can't tell one thing from another.

It's supposed to be easier to find stuff, at least from all the reviews I've read. I agree, though, it's a HUGE pain to find anything. There's also virtually no advertising from within the store itself. New and big releases need to be promoted more from within the store itself. I think that's a "duh" statement, but it's something Sony apparently has trouble with.

Yeah, that's probably a better way to put it. I don't know, I like the look of the new design much better than the old. I've read it's more functional and smoother as well, so those are huge pluses.

The one thing I never understood, though...why was there so much blue before? Playstation has always been black and it just makes more sense to have a darker set of colors for your store design, which is why I was always baffled by the bright blue. It looks so much better.

Hint to Sony: do the same to the Vita store. As bad as the old PS3 store was, the Vita store is even worse. Way worse.

They launched it for Europe and within a few hours had to revert to the old store because everything was broken and nothing would load. You have to give it to Sony, if there's a way to mess something up, they often find the way and execute it flawlessly.

Firmware update 4.30 set to go tonight. It'll be an update that really only pertains to Beatn and myself I guess :D

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/22/new-ps3-update-unifies-trophies-retires-life-with-playstation

A new firmware update is incoming for PlayStation 3. The update, outlined by Sony, affects two things: Trophies and Life With PlayStation.

For starters, firmware update 4.30 will change how Trophies are viewed on PlayStation 3. The Trophy list will be moved on the CrossMediaBar (XMB) from the Games list to the PlayStation Network list. And most interestingly, Trophies earned on PlayStation Vita will finally be viewable on PlayStation 3. As it stands right now, you can see PS3 and Vita Trophies on Vita, but only PS3 Trophies on PS3, even if you’re using the same username across both machines.

http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2012/10/8107621731_e358c6bf92_z-610x343.jpg

Additionally, update 4.30 will usher in the final weeks of the Life With PlayStation application and its primary purpose -- the Folding@home service -- a collaboration between Sony and Stanford University. Folding@home was a way for idle PS3 users to lend “computation hours” to the university as it researched ailments such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. According to Sony, over 15 million gamers lent over 100 million “computation hours” to Stanford University’s research.

Update 4.30 will go live on Tuesday, October 23rd. Life With PlayStation, as well as Folding@home, will end completely in November.

I don't care about a search feature really, but I would really like them to organize it into "Games," "DLC," "Avatars," "Themes," and "Demos." As it is now on both PS3 and 360, there is literally zero organization. It makes it a real chore to find things when you have several hundred items in your list.

Exactly. There's really no need for demos to be on your download list and yet they are for both PS3 and 360, so you have to scroll your way through them. They're both in definite need of being updated. Whenever Sony was showing off the new store the last couple of weeks, the guy behind it did mention they were looking into enhancing the download list, so there's hope.

Exactly. There's really no need for demos to be on your download listWell, I don't agree that there's no reason (because I have re-downloaded demos in the past), but I would like if there was an easy way to eliminate them from the list. Categories would be very welcome.

Yeah I dunno what it was. If the specs didn't have enough to handle the PS3 or what. Saving, downloading, playing....all were just fine except FIFA 13 replays were choppy, and I think the HDD was the cause of that too. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to manage my smaller HDD closer and try to not be a hoarder of PSN games and try to knock some of them completely out :D at least the PSN download system is great to where you can go back and re-download, I just wish they had a search feature within your downloads.

If you are still interested I can link you to the exact 1TB hard drive that I purchased.

I think I'm just going to stick with the 320GB for now. After cleanup, I have about 120GB free on it right now. Plus I'm tired of messing with it, with as much as I've had to the past couple months with the switch to it, then having to reformat it and redownload everything, etc. Thanks though.

Also, forgot to mention, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 1 will be sold separately via PSN and yes, it'll have glorious trophies. I personally plan to get the whole bundle...I don't have any of the games on PS3 nor have I played any of them on PS3.Amazon.ca and other retailers had previously listed release dates in mid-February for the PS3 version of ME Trilogy. Amazon.com has recently changed their release date to Tuesday, December 4.

Not sure if it is the file system, overheating, or my blu ray drive went out, but my Tiger game wouldn't progress between holes, it was stuck on the loading, but the loading circle was still moving.

I rebooted, and put in a disc, it would try to read, make an ejecting noise but not eject the disc, and still not read it.

Trying to restore the file system and OS system if that doesn't work.

Does the little loading circle in the top right just keep going when you put in the disc? If so, probably bluray drive. If it happens with all your discs, I'd say it's definitely a bluray drive.

No loading circle appears at all. I was talking about the loading circle in Tiger still going, so the game wasn't froze at all, it was just sitting there at a load screen.

I'm going to try to rebuild the database and then try rebuilding the OS since rebuilding the file system didn't work. If those two don't work then I'll just turn it off for a while and see if it works after cooling down a bit.

Well a good local company (from friend's accounts) charges only $50 to fix. I'm doing a complete format and restore my backup files. If that doesn't work then I'll take it to the shop.

I'd almost be willing to bet money it's God of War considering that looks an awful lot like Kratos' dead wife and the eye at the end looks like his. Doesn't really make any sense, though, considering it releases in March and virtually everything has been announced already. My best 2 guesses are a single player trailer(which I don't think has been released yet) or God of War Vita.

Easily my favorite franchise so I'm hoping for the latter. There could never been too much God of War.

Cross buy is for games that are both on PS3 and Vita. Ascension is PS3 only so it wont have cross buy. I suppose they could port it over, but I don't think that would be too wise considering there's a little over a month left til launch.

I think this might be a completely separate, standalone Vita title. Hopefully.

Dunno. It seemed like downloading from the store fine. It was downloading in-game on DC Universe online the 16GB file fine. Only on patches. It was weird. While it was doing it the past week or so, I just queued it up, quit, and let PS+ automatically download/install the next day, and it did that just fine.

To celebrate Final Fantasy's 25th anniversary, the PSN Store has a huge sale....

Some of the highlights are here from Slickdeals... (http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/89056/psn-playstation-network-final-fantasy-v-5-final-fantasy-vii-5-final-fantasy-ix-5-final-fantasy-tactics-war-of-the-lions-5-final-fantasy-iv-complete-collection)

I had some already, so I picked up FF Origins (1 & 2 combined w/ updated graphics), FF VI, FF VIII, and Final Fantasy Tactics for a whopping $20 total.

All play on the PS3 and Vita, so they'll definitely be great time killers when I'm travelling or something.

odd/silly question. lately the games on my ps3 are REALLY loud compared to the sound on my PC. its a pain in the but to adjust the sound on my monitor b/c no remote and you have to mash buttons forever to get the sound to a decent level. is there a way on the ps3 to turn the sound down of the ps3 itself? i seem to recall it but i cannot seem to find it on my ps3.

O.K. I thought it was an option but I guess I was thinking of something else. I don't think its anything to do with my setup its just HDMI via Elgato where my PC is DVI so I guess I'll just have to live with it.

I think it's just that the PS3 is louder. Only one time, when I was in a hotel, was the PS3 not the louder feed. Though that feed was via Composite, so maybe how it comes in does have an effect.
