Going against the Thunder with the Spurs isn't a good idea. There are two guarantees in that game: #1 Thunder are going to outrebound them. #2 Thunder is going to outshoot them from the field.

Only way the Spurs beat them is if they have another ghost of Tim Duncan game from Timmy. Anything else, and they are done for.

My pick is going Kansas with the W over Missouri. Kansas is going to bitchslap them. Missouri is soft.

Well, I live by the saying, go big or go home. :D I'm 2-0 today against the 90%+ sheep, picking up Ws from Detroit and Denver. I'm only on W3 due to Kentucky's violations of South Carolina, so I'm not risking a ton. If anything, I want the chance for a 3-0 day against the 90%+ sheep. I'm willing to take the chance. Spurs it is. Plus it already locked, so even if I wanted to change, I can't. :D

:D :D :D What a hell of a Saturday. Detroit, Denver, Spurs. 3-0 against the 90%+ sheep. Talk about a slaughter. And a complete dismantling of 95%+ of the streaks on the leaderboard. Throw in Kentucky's violations of South Carolina at 6pm, and I turned that around from a L2 to a W4.

Even better, snoop was still at W6 and had picked the Thunder, so he lost and my TGT leading W7 safely remains the leading streak, active or non-active.

Well, I had a feeling Mizzou-Kansas was going to be a great game, and it really could have ended either way. Kansas could have still won it, so it wasn't a bad pick going with the Jayhawks.

Hmm, looks like me and old Rockettman are the only two in the group not picking the Super Bowl. :D

Besides being on a W4 (and what it took for me to get that W4) and me not being about to risk it on such a massive toss up like the Super Bowl, I intentionally chose a Monday matchup after the Streakmaster earlier today made an announcement and said "Streakers - in the game's now 1260 consecutive days we've only had one day where only one matchup was posted (11/24/08)." and personally said the only reason there was one pick today, was because he was trying to set a new record for the % of pickers on one matchup in SFTC history, higher than that Packers-Saints matchup in 2008. Because of him trying to stroke his ego, and causing me to not be able to pick any of the great soccer matches or college basketball games that were going on during the first half the day, screw him, he wasn't getting my help for his masturbatory % record.

:D You do have a point there. We all do choose some odds things at times.

For me, it's more care about than get pissed. While it probably sounds like I was pissed based on how I worded that, I'm just shaking my head at the whole thing more than anything else. It's just such a stupid decision. 2 or 3 great soccer matches today, a couple great college basketball games, and then the obvious LOADS of in-game Super Bowl props, which are getting skipped entirely this year solely so ESPN can try to drive people to their "Super Pick'em" game, all entire skipped and chances lost for today. All the other sports were done hours before the Super Bowl ever started, so they still could have tried to get their "% of picks record" that they want so badly.

Yeah, I'm jumping on the Spurs too. They're a really good team, and they have the W/D prop. Despite their lack of success in the past at Anfield, gotta go with the Spurs in the end. I'm tempted to jump on the Turkish Super League match at 1pm, as I'd be able to hit both soccer props before going into the night games, but I just don't know much at all about the Turkish squads, so I'm staying away from that one.

Alright, so much for that plan. I think I managed to talk myself into taking the Baylor women by 25+ over Oklahoma.

Finally got back to W7, and then made a return to W8 since my first week of playing back in January, but it was NOT easy. Karabukspor win, Tottenham Hotspur draw, Duke women 15 or more, and Baylor women 25 or more got me 4-0 on the day, and got me back to W8. The Baylor women almost fucked me. They were up 38 at one point, pulled all the starters, and the scrubs almost fucked it all up. It ended up dropping down to 26 points with 10 seconds left, ended at 27 point margin after a free throw. Thankfully, one of the Oklahoma players just dribbled out the last couple seconds instead of trying to get a garbage basket.

Finally made it to W10. After two days of not picking, as I couldn't talk myself into actually picking, I finally made it to W10 with a 1-1 draw between Alemannia Aachen and Energie Cottbus today.

Really, I should be W14 right now, as I was going to pick Zambia over Ghana and Cincinnati over St. John's on Wednesday, and Siena over Napoli and Wisconsin over Minnesota yesterday, but could never get myself to actually pull the trigger and make the picks. I actually had picked Siena at 2am ET Thursday morning, but then literally 5 minutes before the match locked, I backed out after seeing the lineups and seeing some comments in the discussion boards on ESPN about Siena's lineup being a mess, a patch job, and not being their top lineup, etc. Still kicking myself in the ass about backing out of Siena like that.

But, thanks to Alemannia Aachen, at least finally got into double digits. Now if only I had remembered to put a pick on Vfl Wolfsburg before it locked. :fp: I had been planning on picking Wolfsburg since last night, and like a dumbass, I realized that I had not yet actually picked them after the first soccer match unlocked, but failed to realize that until 2:31, 1 minute too late to make the pick. :fp:

Yep. If I have less than a W5, I pick shit left and right, just look at me picking the Detroit Titans, Denver Pioneers and the San Antonio Spurs last Saturday, all with less than 10% of people picking those teams. I get above a W5, and I start second guessing shit and have to practically force myself to make some picks. I just hate looking back and seeing what could have been had I listened to myself and made those picks. But, I'm just glad to finally get the W10. I would have been pissed at myself if I missed and lost at W9 after getting so close to double digits.

SmoothPancakes

And so long W10. Got boned by Wright State tonight. UW-Green Bay is 0-11 on the road for the entire season, and of course, the one night they are a SFTC pick, they win on the road. :fp:

But, oh well, I'm sort of glad now. Now that I no longer have the pressure of a W9 or W10 streak on me, instead of only making one or two picks a day, I can now go for a Pick 6 or Pick 7 tomorrow, starting with Liverpool-Man U at 7:45, Butler-Cleveland State at 11, UConn-Syracuse at 1, either New Mexico State-Utah State at 3 followed by Wichita State-Creighton at 5 and then Alabama-LSU at 7, or Maryland-Duke at 4 followed by Ohio State-Michigan State at 6, and then wrap up the night with Kentucky-Vanderbilt at 9pm.

Oh hell, soccer and college basketball are about the only things I pick. 14-4 in soccer for February, 13-4 in college basketball, then it plummets off to 2-0 in women's college basketball, 1-3 in the NBA, and 1-0 for the groundhog. :D

I refuse to touch NHL as that shit is essentially a toss up. All it takes is a goalie to have a bad night on that one night of the week and you're screwed. Same thing with golf. Way too many variables. Winds, weather conditions, did the guy get a full night's sleep or was he up all night banging a waitress? :P Does he have a day where he hits every shot perfectly, or a day where he just shanks shots and melts down and collapses like Rory at the Masters?

So that just leaves soccer and college basketball. And soccer, I'll go with anything. EPL, Turkish league, Spanish, French, German Bundesliga, Egyptian, Greek, UEFA Champions, MLS. I'll pick it all.

I guess if you take "D League" to mean "any league that is not the top tier", I understand. I took it as "4th tier and lower". I believe England has 6 tiers, which is why I said npower League 2 (the 4th tier). Obviously, Bundesliga 2 is the 2nd tier of German football.

Either way, as you know Smooth, playing SftC, you have to play some soccer or golf (which I won't do anymore) in order to get some action in the morning. If you sit around waiting for 7 PM games, you're missing out.

Yeah, that was the other way I was looking at it, along with your way. There are some leagues on SFTC that aren't the top tier leagues, but yeah, I haven't seen any actual "D League" soccer matchups.

Yep, I know that very well. I live for the soccer matchups in the morning and early day. Just today, I actually made my first ever golf pick (got green picking Levin) and was going to pick Atletico Madrid at 1pm, only to have the damn thing lock literally right as I was trying to click to pick Madrid. Missed Madrid by seconds. :fp: Now going to pick the 3pm soccer match, leading into tonight's games.

That's the way I do it every day. Hit up as many of the soccer matches as I can during the day, and then try to get at least 2, if not 3 if it's possible, of the college basketball and NBA props during the evening. Been working pretty good so far, sitting at 33-11 for February. And half of those 11 losses are just from taking random picks that I normally never would have picked. But when I have anything less than a W5, I'll start taking some riskier picks on things like what the first shot of the half will be, 3-pointers in the last 2 minutes of a quarter, etc.

That was definitely not an easy one. An own goal and another in the 83rd minute. Everyone who picked Man City is lucky that either Porto did not get another goal in the first half (when they were close a couple times) or that they got that own goal, as otherwise, it's a Porto win or a draw.

Actually, the own goal was highly pressured and was initially awarded to a City player. It wasn't complete luck, and the better side won.

Well, I'll have to go by what you say, as this game wasn't on TV, at least not here in Ohio.

Yeah, that was part of my pick. Porto is a good team, extremely tough at home, and they had the W/D option. So that gave me a good bit of confidence in them. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. I'm going to miss picking Murray State. Still 15 1/2 minutes left in the 2nd half of the Nevada-Iona game, and only half an hour until St Mary's-Murray State tips off. Not going to make it. :(

That is frustrating when that happens :smh:

Yep. :( That's the only thing I hate about college basketball games that I want to pick being two hours apart. All it takes is a bunch of fouls and goodbye any chance to pick games in consecutive time blocks. It also doesn't help this Nevada-Iona game is on TV, so you add in TV timeouts, and yeah...

Even worse is I'm currently on track to get red, as Nevada only has 6 3-pointers and Iona is currently winning by 7. So not only will I miss the 6pm games, but I may potentially be sitting on red until Ohio State-Michigan at 9pm.

Meh they played out of their minds today and have a tendency to play to the level of competition. IMHO they turn the ball over far too much (play out of control / too fast) and normally do not rebound very well.

Canaan can play for anyone but when he is off he is OFF and the team really struggles to generate any offense if/when he is cold.

LOL cannot lie I have NEVER been a fan of my alma's team. They had a bunch of THUGS there during my time and I never really forgave the athletic dept./town for the crap they let them get away with.

The most heinous example included the kidnapping and gang raping of a young woman/student who ended up in the insane asylum. Punishment? Probation/charges dropped if they didn't commit another sexual offense in Kentucky for 2 years(all were "graduated" and going overseas to play ball by the time said punishment was layed down).

SmoothPancakes
02-19-2012, 11:28 AM
I've been doing pretty good with the point spread games. Even ventured into women's college basketball for two games earlier this month, picking the Duke women to beat North Carolina by 15+ (they won by 40) and followed that up immediately by picking the Baylor women to beat Oklahoma by 25+ (they won by 26). I went Kentucky men over South Carolina by 15+ back on the 4th and a couple others. It's worked out pretty well for me so far. I have 3 or 4 losses when picking DD or 15+ props, but I have quite a few wins picking those as well.

As for this afternoon, hell with it, even though it would mean you get W11 and my W10 becoming not as great anymore, I gotta go with the pick that I feel is safest and say Michigan State.

After MVSU let me down, I was able to end the night in the green thanks to Baylor. Looking to get back to back greens in soccer today. I'm concerned about the 2:45 Chelsea-Napoli match. Everything points to Napoli W/D being the very smart pick in that one, especially based on recent form and it being at Napoli. But something is making me feel like this is going to be a SFTC classic. You choose the pick that absolutely should be guaranteed green and it impossibly bones you.

It was Napoli as the smart pick all the way. Napoli hasn't lost a match at home since something like forever. Chelsea's form lately has been a mess and they have been atrocious on the road. Then SM, for whatever reason, gave Napoli the W/D when it should have been Chelsea who was given the draw prop.

Well, overall, you're the leading knowledge-base of soccer picks. For SFTC, we all sort of suck at picking soccer. :D I just think I got really lucky at the beginning of the month with soccer picks.

As for SFTC, thank you Kansas State! I took AOR for Kansas State-Missouri, and Kansas State's winning 70-62 right now with 4 minutes left to play. I knew Missouri had no chance of winning by 15+.

The SFTC pick upset tour is rolling right now. Got started off rocky with a 1 point loss by Dayton, but have been unstoppable since then, with New Mexico beating UNLV, Vermont beating Stony Brook, Bethune-Cookman winning their prop against Norfolk State and Florida State beating Duke. Highest percentage of all of those picks, 26.6%, the rest all down in the teens and single digits. Next up on the SFTC upset tour, Colorado over Arizona.

Yeah, I've been hit or miss with it, but actually been a bit more hit lately. Was 6-2 in golf last month, so decided to take the chance. Next up for me is women's swimming. Damnit, I missed all the good stuff today. Had to pull an almost 24 straight hours since Friday afternoon, so by the time I got home from work this morning and got settled down by around 11am, it was only a couple minutes before I was out like a light. I always go for the mid-majors on SFTC when I can over the major teams. Also much funner games to pick and watch/follow.

Since I missed every game between 10am soccer and the 8pm basketball games, I'm gonna ride the first half Kansas-Texas prop and then New Mexico State-Utah State to end the day with.

That's hoping this game ends on time. I missed out on Green Bay-Cleveland State Friday night, because Iona and Manhattan took forever, and then ended up going to overtime in the end.

Yeah women's hoops scares me but I'd go with :Stanford: on that one. I also think :Wichita_State: is a "trap" so I'm thinking about just calling it a day. I'm tempted to take :Clemson: b/c I really want/need to see :Miami: fall and a "bad" loss to :Clemson: would keep :Duke: slim ACC regular season hopes alive but it just ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, I've just settled for Norfolk State-Hampton, just can't decide which way to go on that. After that, if I can get my pick in, I'll probably go Villanova over Rutgers, and if I miss the lock time for that, I'll go with the second half West Virginia-Kansas State prop.

Back in the green thanks to Bordeaux.

Now I'm trying to choose between Temple and La Salle. I'm sort of scared off of Temple as their last 5 games (3 wins, 2 losses) have all been decided by a single point, and they've been sort of all over the place lately in regards to wins and losses. La Salle is on a 4 game winning streak, but they've only beaten one team with a winning record in that streak. They did however beat Butler (#9 at the time) and VCU (#19 at the time) in back to back games, and all three of their conference losses have been by 9 points or less.

I think I'm gonna roll with La Salle. I've sort of talked myself into them being the more logical pick while typing this out.

Yeah, I'm disappointed with the props today. Not a single mid-major game the entire evening. Indiana-Ohio State is about the only pick I would be interested in making. Plus, I'm not really going to be on Chrome at all the rest of today anyways.
