ESPN SportsNation is partnering with EA SPORTS to give you, the fans, the chance to determine which school has the best tradition in college football.

SportsNation has taken 16 of the best traditions from the college gridiron (narrowed from 25 based upon fan voting on Facebook) and put them in a bracket-style tournament to the death (http://sports.espn.go.com/sportsnation/story?page=ncaatraditionsvote), in which your vote determines which tradition advances. Every Tuesday (at noon ET), they will open a new round of voting until one school is declared the winner. The winning school will receive hundreds of copies of EA's "NCAA Football 12" on the day of game's release (July 12), courtersy of SportsNation and EA SPORTS

So vote now (http://sports.espn.go.com/sportsnation/story?page=ncaatraditionsvote), then tune in to "SportsNation" (4 p.m. ET, ESPN2) for voting updates and don't forget to share the bracket on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #NCAAFootballTraditions

I'm glad that WVU is in the vote and all, but we definitely don't deserve to be. Truthfully, I've watched WVU football since I was like 7 years old and I just recently knew about the Wheel. It's not a very publicized tradition at WVU. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia_Mountaineers#Sports_traditions)

Singing Country Roads after a win, the musket being fired at the beginning of/end of the game and after every score (after the extra point is converted), and the "Let's Go...Mountaineers" chant are far more notable.

Do you guys sing "Country Roads" only after victories or after all games?

I went to NC State...but I'm sorry, there just isn't anything better than and indian riding a horse with a flaming freaking spear which he slams into the ground in the middle of the field...my vote FSU.

Only after victories at home games (or victories in big bowl games - ala Sugar Bowl over Georgia or Orange Bowl over Oklahoma).

My vote is FSU as well. It's awesome.

Anyone got a link?

No kidding..I'm a state man and I laugh at that...that Wolf just got there in like 2007 or 2008 or something with all the satdium expansion

I voted for FSU.... but 2nd place in my book is Clemson... rubbing a rock and then running down a hill...damn that is college football right there!

Yeah, now Mr Wolf and Mrs Wolf could be more of a tradition as I think they were the first mascots married... Even our real ram, rameses should have made it in.... He has been apart of gameday traditions at Kenan for more than half a century...

I would vote for Script Ohio, but since voting requires giving App access to my profile, I will abstain, courteously.

Yeah, that shit is stupid. I hate Facebook for that shit and I did the same. Why not just put up a poll on the EAsports website or somethin'?

Wow, you know some of this stuff was set up intentionally, regardless of voting. Florida vs. Florida State. Oklahoma vs. Texas. Georgia vs. Tennessee. Auburn vs. LSU. If they would have had Ohio State vs. Michigan and Colorado vs. Nebraska, instead of the other way around, I would be absolutely convinced this entire thing is nothing but a massive hack of a tournament.

But they burn couches anytime they have the chance.

No offense to our slew of resident Nebraska fans, but seriously? Nebraska beat Ohio State? To me that proves that this "tournament" is full of nothing but idiots voting. Nebraska touching a sign on the wall and running out onto the field is not even in the same ballpark as Script Ohio, and I'm not even a fan of either.

All it boils down to is how many fans of that school care to vote.

Which is exactly why I hate this massive love of fan popularity vote shit on everything ESPN and EA can think up. Absolutely stupid as hell and a complete waste of time.

Haha I actually voted for Ohio State. :D Looking at simply from a standpoint of what's included in the game this isn't even close.

Now, the actual real life entrances I'm not sure. Obviously I'm biased but the real life tunnel walk with the video & the music is AMAZING. I have no basis for comparison with Ohio State's but anyone I've ever talked to who's been through a tunnel walk in Lincoln has told me that it's one of the coolest things they've ever witnessed.

All that being said, if ESPN wanted objectivity & not traffic, they would've banned Nebraska fans from these votes a LONG time ago! Probably back when Herbie's head almost exploded when '95 Nebraska was voted the greatest team ever. :P (Which for the record is entirely legit, that team was incredible!)

Yeah if it was the full Tunnel Walk, I would definitely have that voted ahead. Just touching the horseshoe...no.

It also doesn't help that people apparently have no damn clue what they're voting for. I saw people in the ESPN comments talking about how Colorado has no business in the same discussion as Michigan because Michigan has so many wins in their history. Or Notre Dame should win it all because they have the toughest SOS and such a massive history and crap like that.

honestly it has to be fsu . more than any intro in that game that is the one that would take the most detail to do. EA couldn't just make a horse and and a guy with a flaming spear. Every detail from his shirt, head dress, spear had to be exact or it can't be used. the same goes for the real mascot for fsu he has to be approved by the Seminole tribe .

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately we have the dumbasses of the general public that are allowed to vote, who are voting because they think this is about who is the better team/program in the history of college football, and not actually about the physical traditions/pregame stuff of the schools. :fp:

Championship Round (http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/post/_/id/6738691/4-florida-st-vs-11-michigan):

Florida State & Chief Osceola/Renegade vs. Michigan and the Go Blue banner

FSU currently leading 54%-46%.

4 million votes so far? Surely that can't be right.

SmoothPancakes
07-06-2011, 10:08 PM
Yeah... In a half an hour since JHC's post, it's now up to 5.5 million. Definitely botting it up.

Based on the comment section on there, Michigan was the first side to start using bots, then Florida State responded with bots as well.

SmoothPancakes
07-06-2011, 10:23 PM
Good lord, it's bots galore in that thing. Notre Dame-Florida State semifinal had just shy of 2 million votes, FSU winning 80%-20%, obviously Notre Dame voted straight and didn't use bots. The Michigan-Nebraska semifinal, 20 million votes. :fp:

Like I said from the very beginning, this entire thing was a pure joke. :smh:

People wondering about how these "traditions" made it in. This is a promotional stunt by EA and ESPN. That's why all the traditions just happen to be team entrances that are in the game and also why it is ending at the same time the game releases.

Sitting at just over 22 million votes right now. Odds on them hitting the same number of votes as there were votes in the last general election last November?

That team is not in the ballpark of that Canes team. 2001-2002 Miami Huricanes is the best team I have seen with my own eyes, period!
