Chances are they are playing on Pro difficulty, couldnt tell if players were ice skating or not in coverage.

It is very impressive at this point. I was a Madden guy long before I was an NCAA guy, but I got burned out on the game once it made the switch to the Xbox 360/PS3 generation. Too many steps back, even though I understand why that happened. After seeing NCAA take huge strides in recent years, it's nice to see Madden start to catch back up.

Welcome back to Clevver Games I'm Andrea Rene here to talk about my E3 2011 coverage of Madden NFL 12. Football season is right around the corner and Madden will be out in a few short months so I thought I better get my hands on it while I could! Associate Designer Anthony DiMento and I went head to head in a match so he could show me some gameplay, so let's check it out!

Anthony told me design changes were implemented to make the game feel more real than ever, including helmet and jersey degradation throughout the game and 3D animations that show when players kick up grass or dirt on specific fields. But the look of the game is only part of the battle.

Clearly, as an EA Sports designer he was kicking my ass, but there are ways for you to get an edge on your friends or the CPU like the custom Playbook and utilizing the new tackle collision system, more on that in second, let's check out some more footage.

The tackle system he was referring to has been designed in a way that you can choose how to tackle. In Madden NFL 12, instead of just hitting a button and getting a canned animation you'll see over 100 animations for the impact system like gang tackles and concussive hits. As Anthony said there will be more information about the new online components for Madden and I'll be sure to bring them to you here on Clevver Games. put the play pick boxes at bottom of screen if you want us to see the in between plays art/animations....when coming out of huddle am I going to have to push x to get rid of the broadcast view so I can start doing hot routes and audibles ? just another frustrating time waster that gets in the way of strategy.

That video was the first I've been able to see in terms of how Custom Playbooks compare to one another in NCAA Football 12 versus Madden NFL 12. People might hate on GameFlow and GamePlan from last year's game, but without those two additions you wouldn't be seeing the ability to rate each play you add to your Custom Playbook based on situation. As much as I enjoy the Custom Playbook feature in NCAA Football 12, I don't think that there's any comparable option in the game like what we're seeing in Madden.

Agreed on all counts. I actually was hoping to see gameflow make it to NCAA this year. Gameflow WITH CUSTOM PLAYBOOKS has major potential. It's too bad that we will have to wait to the end of August to get our hands on it.

I am counting down the days for this game. I enjoy NCAA and prefer it 9.9 times out of 10. However, this year I am most excited about Madden, especially based on these videos.

I have been curious to see what the intro look like say 10-15 years into dynasty? What happens once the key players in the league have retired? What is the commentary like or is there any to introduce these "new" players? As well, with the starting lineups, will there be any pictures if you have imported from NCAA 12? A video of these types of things would be great.

I don't think we have any footage of any of this because Franchise mode hasn't been a featured part of the public showings; which makes sense, honestly, given that those environments are just meant to show off gameplay to the general public.

I do seem to remember Madden NFL Creative Director Michael Young answering questions about it on Twitter, however. Apparently if a player like Ray Lewis gets traded away, you're not going to see a "replacement" player on the Ravens doing the "Ray Lewis dance" for their intro; I don't know what would play in place of that, but it seems as though the team was aware of issues like that with personal entrance traditions. Many of the entrances seem to be team-centric in any case, so you would just replace the "key players" in that presentation; not sure how commentary will be handled though.

Finally, I believe that one of the Franchise blogs on the Madden NFL 12 title site showed off some "generic" rookie photos that will be used for in-game purposes. Still remains to be seen how that will be implemented in terms of the startling lineups, however.
