SP is getting blasted, so not sure if this is a release day buy for me anymore. Might wait a while and get it cheaper. Haven't decided yet. Not as big into MP versus as most people around here, as I prefer MP co-op type of stuff.

I played SP last night mainly to get used to the controls since I've been playing Black Ops all year and i enjoyed it. Admittedly I'm more of a MP person which I've played around with today and the biggest difference between Black Ops and BF3 is that it's much harder to spot opposing players. It's not that they aren't around, but in COD as soon as you target a player their name lights up in red or green. In BF3 that doesn't happen, so a lot of my death's right now are a result of figuring out who is who. I hope now that I have an ACOG targeting opposing players will become a little easier.

Only reason SP is getting blasted is because people expect way to much.I haven't touched it either just be doing MP.The controls are the only are the one main complaints I've notice people will get used to those.I'll play SP later this winter when I move.The graphics look great to me.I think people just expected it be like MW for some reason and realize it is a completely different game so I dunno either.But I love the game so far.

The maps on this game are fun as hell. I sincerely doubt I would like them with vehicles on them, but they play so well on Team Deathmatch that I probably wont even try the other game modes. I've played on them all so far and they all have a really nice flow to them. Also, great job to EA for fixing the health and the hit detection. They were by far my biggest two complaints and they're both right where they should be.

That's what I do. I then get "unable to connect to match" about 10 times before I'm able to join, and then when I finally get in a game, the lag is so bad there's no point in even playing.

I'm close to unlocking the F2000, which I think will work even better with the way I play because of it's firing rate.

I completely agree. That's why I DESPERATELY miss America's Army 2.0-2.5 for the PC. It was fun as hell to play the escort map Hospital where you had to escort the VIP out to the helipad that was guaranteed to be covered in all angles by the other team. I was REALLY good at playing the escort on those missions because I wouldn't give a shit about kill ratio or any of that other shit. I'd go straight for trying to escape as quickly as possible.

I love to use the IAR light machine gun, its a modded version of the M416 with more stopping power. It can kick like a mule sometimes, but it is a very effective weapon from long distance and can even win in medium range battles. The M416 with the stands and a silencer is super deadly even at long range with the burst fire. I love it.

Honestly I don't know why everyone won't use them they are just that effective on 90% of the maps at lease at one point or another because they are close quarters, I have even had times where me and another guy are just blinding each other. I think the width of the blindness is to big, like it blinds your entire screen, not only a specific point.

Let me say mors it only blinds you while they are looking at you, kinda literally like looking into a light you can see, but you only see the light. Again just my personal opinion they should have left it out the game. Maybe if they only allowed it to blind if they pulled the gun up, or something to that effect would help.

I will say snipers are complete idiots when they have laser sights and falashlights on their guns, you can literally see them across a map, and all I play is conquest so much of the maps are huge.

The light is the dumbest fucking shit ever. I wouldn't mind if it happened on dark maps, but it blinds you on the maps that are as bright as can be. What the fuck? It needs toned down so that it only works on night maps(which actually makes sense) or they need to get rid of it entirely. There's nothing more annoying than getting into a close quarters combat situation with someone and you lose because you can't even see the fucker.

The spawn system is also laughable. Hands down the worst spawn system ever implemented in any game. I said this on Utopia, but the other day while the countdown timer was running down to start the game, I happened to look to my right and see a guy without his name above his head. I figured there's no way it hell it would be THAT shitty, but it was. The game started, I blew his head off, and I had a kill within the first half second of the game. It's not always this bad, but there's numerous times where the spawn system fucks someone over every single game. It definitely needs tweaked a bit.

Other than those issues and the annoying play style of most BF players, I'm having fun with the game. I was looking forward to unlocking the UMP45, but I've heard it was nerfed so bad it's not even worth using. Go figure.

For the sake of enjoyment I will say I am glad that they tone down guns, because more times than not if everyone is using a particualr weapon that means its simply overpowered versus every other gun ie. the 1911 pistol on BC2 or even the auto shotgun on BC2

Personally, I'm loving the game. But I also like Rush mode & I know several of you have made it clear how you feel about that so... :D To each his own... I will say that I was wholly unimpressed with the campaign. Too linear & repetitive, especially the airplane level. Here's hoping MW3 is much better in that area, MW2 was also disappointing in that respect.

I'm sure you pay more attention to it that I do & that you're right. I think what I'm hoping for is more of a return to the original modern warfare type campaign. I just found the one in MW2 to be just ridiculously unrealistic. I understand it's going to be somewhat sensationalized but when the final scene is me chasing down a helicopter in a rubber zodiac it's a bit of a stretch for me. Again, I realize even MW1 wasn't completely realistic but to me it was a bit more plausible.

Yeah, it went pretty quick. One of the few games that I've gone back to replay SP missions though. Haven't done that with CoD since MW1.

Before that my ol' shooting group of Violator and H8 got on Call of Duty Black Ops as we're trying to prestige for a bonus on MW3 (I barely played online, maybe a few rounds with CDJ and CCC, so I was level 11.)

Coming off a few rounds of Black Ops, holy cow does a death not feel as cheap on Battlefield 3 as it does on Black Ops.

I had a pretty good time on it last night. Connection was perfect for me too.

Played MP for a bit last night. Not thrilled that I light guys up from behind or from the side, totally have the drop on them, and they just turn and shoot.....and I'm the one that dies. Is there some bullshit rank-up thing that makes gun better or something? That is the lame shit that CoD MP is infamous for and why I don't play MP in CoD.
Otherwise, the graphics and vehicle stuff is pretty fun. Good times riding around on the skid of a Little Bird, harassing people.

C'mon, if I pop a guy with a couple 7.62 rounds from an AK, they aren't to be feeling "fine" as they respond with a shoulder-held M240 and be able to put accurate full-auto fire on me. Hell, I have yet to see any real-world soldier shoulder-fire a M240 in combat employment, much less run around with it and be accurate with it off the shoulder.

Both of those things are what drives me nuts about these MP games. And why Op: Flashpoint is much better done.

I COMPLETELY agree and that's why I loved America's Army so much. To shoot it with any accuracy at all, you had to do VERY short bursts or lay down, and put out the stand to have a prayer of being accurate. Sadly, with the 3.0 update, they have ruined that by following the idiot FPS masses...

I'm going to assume that most of your issues came whenever your opponent was moving and you were trying to shoot him? If so, that's the lovely hit detection that has been fucked up since the beta, and was even an issue on Bad Company 2. As retarded as it sounds, you have to lead them. If they're running to the right, you want to direct your bullets directly where they're headed by a tad. It sounds stupid considering how fast the bullets should be moving, but it works.

Beat the campaign tonight and while it's woefully short, it was a fairly enjoyable experience. The story was cliche and what virtually every shooter is doing nowadays, but I still had fun with it. Hard mode is a lot harder than what it was in Bad Company 2, but it was nothing too bad. Now I just have to finish up the specific mission achievements, level up some more in online, and 1000G. :easy:

Basically if you like tactical, get BF3, if you like running around like a chicken with your head cut off, get MW3. I have both, and have fun with them both. I'd lean towards BF3 a little more though.

I don't see the "tactical" play that everyone on the internet is eluding to. I mean, I guess it would be tactical if you had a full clan to run around with, but with randoms in the mix, it will never be tactical. It's more tactical than MW3, yes, but so is Hannah Montana, Dance Central, and just about every game on the planet.

Dead Island was okay, but I see it as more of a "great concept with failed execution." The game gets really repetitive and dull the more you play it. I thought it needed more side missions that allowed you to do a variety of things, rather than the same old "fetch this" style of mission.

Uncharted 3 is really good if you haven't played that. Starhawk and Twisted Metal are both coming out over the next 2 or 3 months, so it may be best to just save it if you're interested in either of those.

:sf: and I are the only people that can be gunned down in a group of 4 with us trailing the first 2 without anyone else getting shot or seeing the enemy I swear.

This is my first shooter so I started off really bad, my k/d was .27 (lower the first couple of weeks) but I have improved that to .39. It is a slow process though because I really like the game and play a ton.

I'm also like JB, there is no messing around. We have a goal and we go for it each and every time! I really have a blast when we are all on. We conference call each other so that we don't have to deal with the crappy reception on PS3. It works great so if you add us and join in with us try and get a headset so that we can all work together :nod:

Oh and yes you gotta get that pack too!

Finally finished the assignment with the SOFLAM (laser targeting). Jesus Christ, I'm glad that I am finally done with that. That's the most worthless thing in this game. Everytime I'd try to use it, I'd get shot up, and it would take FOREVER to lock onto a tank, and on top of that a tank knows when you start to lock onto it. Just ask Snoop, I went all Tourette's trying to get five designations with that piece of shit. Just did it to finish my assignment and unlock one of the new snipers in the Back To Karkland pack.

Well I knew it was a matter of time before the cheese came along, apparently it is the USAS-12 with frag rounds. It has crazy distance, and while it also has distance it has sniper rifle style supression. It is just crazy unfortuanly I don't think they will do anything about it as the auto shooty was overpowered in BC2 and they never fixed it and even on their forums people are saying leave it alone, apparently they havent been in a room yet where most people are using it.

I think they have, but I don't know why...it fits their games so well. I stopped playing a few weeks ago, and like a few people on my friend's list, I'm not playing again until the shit is patched. The shotguns + frag rounds have just about made it their for me, some of the glitches are irritating but not necessarily game killers. I can't think of any other gun that is so overpowered that I don't want to play the game.

The thing is you really won't see it that much until one idiot comes into a room which is just about every other match and then it totally fucks up the room, but anytime you go to Seine Crossing( which was one the best maps on the game), Operation Metro ( never liked it anyway), Grand Bazar (also a pretty good map), or any of the B2K maps these things start flying out and the room just became unplayable. It pretty makes everyone either use the shogun or snipe.

I have played noticeably more matches than 200 and I really have just started seeing this on a consistent basis about 2 weeks ago but this past week has been worse.

I didn't know people even played Rush. Rush is such a horrible game mode I just assumed people playing BF3 were doing so in Conquest or Team Deathmatch. But yes, I'd find most any shotgun to be completely worthless on Rush, simply because long range weapons are going to be so much more effective. If you want a dosage of the shotgun bullshit, load up a few games of Conquest or Team Deathmatch.

Conquest is cool, in theory, but falls short (imo) because there just aren't enough players to justify 5 bases. If it were 24 vs 24, I'd play it all the time.

Yeah, I don't know why they limited the player numbers on consoles like they did. On PC, it supports up to 32 vs 32 for Conquest, which is the perfect number. It's kind of baffling they cited technical reasons when MAG had 256 players playing at the same time with virtually no noticeable lag.

How? They still haven't fix their fucked up VoIP that's been messed up since the beta. Even regardless of that, it's a super shitty mode simply because it's not even fair. If you go through and plant all the bombs, it's over. If they stop you on one, it's over. It should be set up where one team attacks, then they switch. After that, whichever team destroyed more objectives wins, and if they were even, the team that did it the quickest wins.

Conquest was the shit in Bad Company 2, but I don't find that enjoyable at all in BF3. So far, in the little time that I have played, I've been sticking to Team Deathmatch, which aside from the absolutely laughable spawn system, is mildly fun. I just have a hard time playing it. When I have those moment I just log onto battlelog and see shit I still have to unlock it at least gives me something to look forward too. Any of you guys on battelog we should all join up just to compare stats, thats about all its good for and see to what you have unlocked but after that its nothing.

When it's like $10, it's not going to drop much more, if any. Just a few weeks ago I got Warhammer 40K: Space Marine for $5. It'll never get that low in price again. I actually played that one, though. It'll all come in handy during the summer when no games are released and I'm looking for something to play. I burned through a lot of my backlog last summer.

Definitely was a team that had a couple using the USAS12 last night, but they weren't too skillful. Basically had a sub-1 k/d the entire time we played against them in Squad Deathmatch outside of one game.

I have not found the shotguns that much, usually when I get killed by them it's from behind. Usually in that situation you're toast, pistol shotgun whatever. Usually when it's from the front I can see their rounds exploding and just keep enough distance while spraying them with my M4.
