Associate Designer Justin Patel details more of the changes coming to Career Mode in TW12 (http://www.ea.com/tiger-woods/blog/career-mode-blog). Among the highlights: Ability to play DLC courses in career, more realistic tee times, mid-round saves, & AI Score settings.

This is Justin Patel and I am here to tell you more about Tiger Woods PGA TOUR: The Masters. We have revamped the career mode this year and renamed it Road to the Masters. In this career, you will progress from a small time local player to the most prestigious golf tournament in the world, the Masters.

The road begins with the EA Tiburon Classic, a 9-hole local event.
After the EA Tiburon Classic, you will work your way through a few stages to get to the PGA TOUR. These stages include the EA SPORTS Amateur Tour, Nationwide Tour, and Q School.

Here is a look at what stands between you and the Masters. Every stop on the road comes with a set of goals. Complete these goals to advance to the next stage of your career.
Progression in career doesn’t stop with tours. The concept of sponsorships has been brought back in a whole new format. Progressing through these sponsorships goes hand in hand with your progression through career. Below is a look at the new sponsorship format.

Some of golf’s top companies will offer you a sponsorship. For each sponsor, you are given a set of objectives to complete. Complete these objectives to unlock new equipment.
If you played our game in the past, you know there are more equipment companies than the six shown above. To unlock items from the other companies, you will have to complete a challenge that is built into every week of the PGA TOUR season.

This is a look at your schedule for an event week. Sponsor challenges will unlock new clothing and equipment from golf companies not included in the primary sponsorships. Training challenges will earn you XP to help build your golfer faster.
Rankings are an important part of golf and an important part of your career. On the PGA TOUR, you will work your way up the EA SPORTS Golf Rankings as well as the FedExCup rankings as shown below.

Work your way up the EA SPORTS Golf Rankings. You will earn points based on your finish at every event. Earn enough points and become the #1 ranked player on the PGA TOUR. But before you get there, you might have to deal with Tiger Woods.

Every year you will compete to qualify for the playoffs and a chance to compete for the FedExCup.
Based on user feedback, we got into some of the minor details in career mode. One of these asks was to make the tee times more realistic. Below is a look at how we have changed this.

Here is a look at the leaderboard going into my final round of the US Open Championship. In rounds 3 and 4 of PGA TOUR events, the pairings are based upon the leaderboard, with the leaders playing in the final group.

I’m now 2 holes into my final round. Notice how Tiger is 1 hole behind me because he was the leader going into the final round. If I finish tied for the lead with him, I will have to sweat out his last hole and hope that he doesn’t beat me.

I’ve finished my round and sure enough I am tied with Tiger. I now have to sweat out his last hole. At this screen the rest of the field will finish their round. Their scores will update every hole they play. In this case, the simulation ran and Tiger made birdie on 18 to take the US Open Championship away from me.
Another ask was the ability to save in the middle of a round. We have responded and added our new mid-round save feature. Here is a look at it in action.

Five holes into my 1st round at Royal Melbourne and I have to run. All I have to do is pause and choose save and quit, and I am free to come back to my round whenever I get time to.

Ok, I am back and ready to play again. All I do is go to the event and choose the round I was playing. I will be prompted to resume my round from earlier or just restart completely. I was off to a hot start so I will definitely resume.
For some people out there, the AI scores just aren’t any competition. We have solved your problem with an all new AI scoring setting. Choose from five settings: Normal, Low, Very Low, Extremely Low, and Insane. Here is a look at the Extremely Low setting.

The competition is pretty stiff at this level, but I still have a 5 stroke lead after the first round. Luckily I have the ability to turn it up to Insane if I don’t feel challenged.
Many users out there have been asking us to include the DLC courses in the career mode. Thanks to these users, they are now part of the season.

Here is one of the DLC events in the career, The Fantasy Challenge. It takes place at one of our DLC fantasy courses, the Highlands. There are a total of 6 events every season that are at DLC courses. Some of these events change location each year and a couple are a staple of the schedule every year. Every course that is available for download is usable in career. As for what those courses are, you will have to wait and see.
