Temple starts off with a bang

[4star] SS (#12) Ashton White 6'1 209 lbs, North Tonawanda, NY

Ashton signed on with the Owls because of DB coach Corey Fuller who developed FS Gildea into one of the top safeties in the nation last season, though he could make the switch to WR with his B- catching ability.

[4star] WR (#23) Darryl Patterson 6'3 185 lbs, Pearl River, NY

Patterson sighted early playing time as his reason for such an early commitment. He will need to work on his hands but will work into the rotation. His speed will make him a starter on special teams from day one.

Wish I could get a [4star] :(

I have only one on my radar (for the first time as Troy's HC).....hoping to land him...probably will get a good idea in week two if I will have traction or not.

Arkansas State signs their first of the season:

Dan Thomas
#1 P | #237 OVR
[4star]
6'1" 190 lbs
Edinburg, TX
SPD | AWR | KPW | KAC
D+ | C | C+ | C+ For having moderately developed skills as the #1 Punter and as a 4-star, Thomas is thought to have exceptional potential for the future.

Chester Kirk
#18 QB | #390 OVR
[3star] JUCO Soph
6'2" 186 lbs
The Colony, TX
SPD | AWR | THP | THA
D+ | D | B | B- Chester will join the Red Wolves next season and be given a year to learn the offense while recently transferred QB Phillip Sims takes the helm. After that, there will be a QB battle between Kirk and current QB Brian Horton.

Ryan Washington
#34 DE | #410 OVR
[3star]
6'2" 239 lbs
Clayton, MO
SPD | STR | TKL | PMV | FMV | BSH | PUR | HPW
D | C+ | C+ | C | D | C | C | B- While not quite yet developed, Washington joins the Red Wolves with great potential, especially his ability to lay the big hits. QBs will fear him by the time his career at Arkansas State is over.

Kyle Patton
#11 CB | #220 OVR
[4star]
6'0" 182 lbs
Whiteriver, AZ
SPD | ACC | AGI | MCV | ZCV | PRS | JMP | TKL | PRC
B+ | B- | B- | B | B | B- | B- | D- | C+ A stud at CB, Patton was a huge signing for Arkansas State and will fit in quite nicely on their defense. He'll likely compete for the starting job his Freshman year but if not his first year, he'll certainly be ready to start his sophomore year.

[espnu150][4star]HB (#7) Kevin Alford 6'0 227 lbs, Corona, CA

Kevin has great speed (B+) and Strength (C) as well as solid hands (car (C))

[espnu150][4star]FS(#8) Mark Horne 6'4 174 lbs Santa Cruz, CA

Mark may be the biggest commitment in Temple Owls football history, selecting Temple over Utah and Stanford.

Mark is a big play FS with an NFL body and will start immediately in the temple backfield.

I'm about 700 points ahead of 2nd to land Troy's first ever [4star] recruit. I have a TON of recruits coming in next week against Florida Atlantic, so I anticipate a huge rush of signees after that game.

Allen Rhodes
#151 OLB | #1898 OVR
[2star]
6'2" 217 lbs
Eunice, LA
SPD | STR | TKL | PRC | PUR | HPW | BSH | MCV | ZCV
B+ | B | C+ | C+ | C- | D | D | C- | D+
With the starters already deeply entrenched, the Red Wolves were looking towards the future with Rhodes. His speed will be put to good use on special teams while he develops into a head-hunter at linebacker. He has a long way to go but in a couple of years he may be ready to take over the starting job.

Scott Smith
#13 FS | #266 OVR
[3star] JUCO Sophomore
6'4" 199 lbs
Fort Collins, CO
SPD | AGI | ACC | TKL | PRC | PUR | HPW | BSH | MCV | ZCV
A | B+ | B | B | B- | B | B- | C+ | C+ | C+
Smith is a monster of a linebacker with safety speed. His coverage skills still need to develop but his ability to chase down a ball-carrier will help him find immediate playing time at the strong safety position in the Red Wolves 3-3-5 defense.

Can't remember who was committed when, but:

Jon Barron - 6'0" 208lbs
[3star] - OLB #27
East Lancing, Michigan
Other top interests: Michigan and Notre Dame

Spd | Str | Acc | Jmp | Blk Shd | Hit Pwr | Pur

C | C | B | B+ | B+ | C+ | B- | B-
A special teamer at first, Barron has the ability to progress into a great weakside OLB with enough talent to be a great coverage LB down the road.

Thomas Everett - 6'1" 181lbs
[2star] - K #11
Tallmadge, Ohio
Other top interests: Ohio State and Temple

K Acc | K Pwr
B- | DClearly, Thomas needs to improve his power, but his accuracy is definitely something that brought interest in bringing him to Ohio. With some time, he has a real chance to be a good kicker.

Dion Shelby - 5'11" 190lbs
[4star] - WR #21
Haslett, Michigan
Other top interests: Michigan and Penn State

Spd | Acc | Jmp | Brk Tkl | Car | Cat | Rt Run
B | B- | B+ | C | C+ | D | B

The first four star recruit for Ohio this season, Dion shows promise with his ability to run the routes and make plays, but he needs to really work on his ball catching skills. Overall, Dion is thought to have very high upside and could be a big part of the team as he grows.

Charles Joseph - 6'1" 208lbs
[3star] - WR #49
Snellville, Georgia
Other top interests: Troy and LSU

Spd | Acc | Jmp | Brk Tkl | Car | Cat | Rt Run
B+ | C | C+ | C- | C+ | D | D

Obviously, Charles has quite a bit of work to do, but his top speed was definitely of interest. He'll be a special teamer until he shows the ability to perform at a higher level at his position.

Recruiting continues to be relatively quiet out of Athens as it looks like the real push will be happening later in the season for Ohio, but there are several players that have Ohio high on their lists including two [espnu150] recruits.

Brian Kiniry
#22 DT | #167 OVR
[4star]
6'3" 288 lbs
Mableton, GA
SPD | STR | PMV | FMV | TKL | BSH | PUR
D- | B+ | C+ | C | C- | C- | C- While Kiniry is built like a freak of nature, he's not quite ready to jump onto the field. His size, strength and expected potential show a lot of room to grow for the future and once he becomes a starter, he'll be a force to reckon with.

ASU 2013 Class Thus Far:

Allen Rhodes | OLB | [2star]

Look out.... Toledo pulls a 4 star recruit. HB Justin Beck. I don't really how he's a 4 star recruit as his ratings aren't the best but we'll take it.

I've got a similar HB that has been interested in me from the beginning. He's a 4-star but his ratings certainly don't indicate it. At the beginning of the season I was only giving him 10-30 min a week but he's hung around and now that I have more important recruits signed, he's getting more attention. I can only hope that he has an A+ potential rating or something. Here's his ratings:

Maybe high hidden potential?

Maybe high hidden potential?

Or high awareness (which you really have to watch out for).

Or he could just be a "bust".

I've got a couple like that on my list too and the lack of high attributes/awareness is making me think high hidden potential.
