rematch with Bye went well.

recruiting not so well. lost 2 more recruits. I'm going to have less than 55 players on my roster most likely next year. I did gain a 3* QB though, instant commited this week.

Miami rolls over Virginia 49-7. Now that RB Mike James isn't sharing carries, he's making the most of it (even though it's been against two of the easier ACC opponents), he nearly reached 200 yds rushing again, and scored 4 TDs.

Northwestern Recruiting Update

The Northwestern Wildcats announced the signing of two more recruits just hours before they took the field against hated rival Illinois. The newest Wildcats fill key holes on the offensive side of the ball for next year.

*First is a possession type wide out with decent speed, he is...

WR -- Kyle Brooks -- [3star] 6'1, 176lbs

Thoughts --With the departure of their top three wide-outs after this season Brooks will be looked at long and hard before the start of the season as a viable option for the Cats in their passing attack.

*Second is a speedy but small halfback from the JUCO ranks....

HB -- Cole Hardy -- [3star] 5'9, 173lbs

Thoughts --Both Arby Fields and his back up graduate this year and that means almost 4000 yards between them leaves the Wildcats backfield when all is said and done. Hardy and Mike Trumpy an untested redshirt senior by the start of next season will be battling it for the top spot in the Cats backfield.

Stay tuned for more Wildcats recruiting news as it happens.

Wildcats Romp Over Rival Illinois

Evanston, Illinois --Rivalry games can be tricky, usually the game is a lot closer on the field than it is on paper. But that was not the case as the Northwestern Wildcats improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in conference with a win over their hated rivals Illinois on Saturday, 33-7. Northwestern dominated the game from start to finish, with the only hiccup coming in the final two minutes of the game as Illinois connected on a long bomb for their only points of the game.

Northwestern used a balanced attack on offense and a relentless pass rush to throw Illinois off balance all game long. On offense Northwestern was led by Junior Quarterback Tate Forcier, who threw for 161 yards, 2 touchdowns and rushed for another 151 and a touchdown, accounting for all three of the Wildcats touchdowns on the day. His scoring strikes came from eight yards out to Brett Nagel in the second quarter, three yards to Tony Jones in the second as well. His rushing score came in the third quarter from 66 yards away.

Defensively the Wildcat pass rush was all over the Illinois quarterbacks, producing ten sacks on the day. Three coming from true Freshman Ben Vaughn, and two from three other players. One of those other players with two sacks was senior Quentin Williams who on his second sack of the day broke the Wildcats career record for sacks with his 28th and a 1/2 sack in the past 2 and a half years.

Northwestern takes a major step up in competition next week as they travel to Happy Valley to take on the #9 Penn State Nittany Lions who currently sit at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

That was a helluva game. You had a very nice gameplan going. In the 4th quarter I just went balls out on offense and defense and hoped for the best. My defense finally came alive on your last couple of possessions. I couldn't believe I gave up that fg at the end of the half...nice play call though. I don't know if I can handle a rematch!

No. The game froze up while I was attempting to get some highlights.

Looking at the OD site, there are stories for everyone but Romo and Soldice. Since Soldice has a bye week he would not have a story. So by my math that leaves us with just Romo to play.
