So I guess I beat the game but it's quite a let down... disappointed after finishing the major campaign, there wasn't anything that told me it was all over (like in Fallout 3).. I completed presumably all of the major quests and the only side quests remaining are find quests (find jazbay berries, etc.) Now I guess all that's left is to start a new character.

My first character was a sniper/assassin. I think my next one will be primarily a conjurer, something I never really dabbled in Oblivion.

Maybe a spoiler alert for those of us who have not finished the main campaign. For fucks sake, I paid $59.99 and would have like to have found out on my own.

Sweet. I've sort of become a sucker for collector's edition guides lately. I got the Assassin's Creed Revelations hardcover collector's edition guide, and still have it unopened in it's plastic sleeve.

I really need to get back into this. I haven't played Skyrim since December 7th, haven't even installed the damn thing on my new Xbox yet. I was just thinking about this game last night. And with it Douchebag Hour(s) on MW3 right now, Skyrim is sounding even more better.

Finally playing this again. Was waiting for the 4th patch. Took a little bit to get my bearings back, but jumped in and defeated my 2nd dragon. And now am up to level 11.

Lvl 43, you can try a sneak attack but with my Legendary Glass Armor and light armor/one hand at 100, you would not make a dent in my guy. :P Using my Legendary Glass sword on the other hand, well I would see a beheading in your future.

Then I would drink your blood as I am a Cannibal and carry the Ring of Namira and even get an increase in stamina and HP to boot.

There's a mod that's trying to do just that. It's in VERY early alpha stages, but, if it gets anywhere close to what it did in Oblivion, it'll be pretty damn interesting.

Sometimes I wish I played this game on a PC. I have a house in Windhelm with a serial killer living in the back room because Bethesda can't take the time to make sure that quests are bug free. The game just skipped over a step in the quest line making it impossible to deal with this person. I am going to move my wife there and see what happens next. ;) As much as I love the game, the amount of bugs and freezes make me want punch something.

And, yet, me, on the PC, hasn't had any of those issues since switching to a mod manager program. I was having crashing issues to begin with, but since installing all of my mods via the manager program, I've had zero issues with the game and it looks better than ever with the mods that I'd added.

Yeah, I've become the same way. About the only games I play anymore on PC are the ones that are available only on PC. If it's available on 360, that's what I get it for. Like you, when I'm feeling like gaming, I want to relax in the recliner, kick up my feet, and enjoy the game on the big screen. While my laptop has a pretty large screen, it's just never really been my preferred device for gaming.

Deadric Sword (Legendary) 91 damage + 52 plus enchantment on this my Deadric bow and Dagger (all Legendary)

I am not much of a story line guy to begin with. The Metal Gear games ruined me on gaming and stories, though I found Red Dead Redemption to be okay, up to the last part of Mexico where it got a bit odd.

I just can't expect something too compelling from a game that let's me join two Colleges, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, The Champions and The Blades, not to mention running though the civil war story line and dragon story line; all at the same time.

Yeah, but nothing really happens with it that's all that interesting. It's really just more silly stuff that is half-baked to begin with. I mean, sure, Alduin is bad ass and everything, but, it's really silly that he just so happens to be sent forward in time to the time in which the Dragonborn is reborn into the world to stop him. It's just so 5th grade writing.

Funny (well not for me) little story about how developers can make the game a bit too real.

I spent an hour trying to figure out how to buy the house in Riften. I have spent a ton of time helping the people in the area, did all the requests from the Jarl and Steward, still no mention of the house. So I jump online to see who I need to talk to get my house, become a thane, get me a house carl and all the wonderful glory that goes with it. Come to find out one NPC is required to start a chain of events to get all this fun stuff. Problem is, and I recall this happening early in the game on my first visit to Riften. A dragon attacks me just outside Riften in the Fishery. It is early and it was an elder dragon so it took some time to finish him. During this time a few guards and one lady die in the attack. That lady happens to be the one who sets the chain of events.

I have seen a few NPC's die in dragon attacks but why would you have one that is so important to the storyline die?

While I have no issue with the story, being a video game and all... There are a few quests that you just have to imagine the writers were on shrooms. Just so far out there you could not help but laugh.

Examples - no spoilers, if you have been on these quests you will understand.

Most of the Dark Brotherhood Storyline
Wabbajack - we get it, someone is really into Lewis Carrol.

Going to start character #3. While some of the fixes are automatic, many of the fixes are only if you start a new game. I still have ton of glitched things in my inventory and quests completed that are not removed. Still can't be a thane or buy a hose in Riften because a NPC died.

I hate putting 123 hours in a character only to start over again. :(

JBHuskers
05-31-2012, 12:31 PM
As for the story so far, it's definitely better than the whole bullshit with Oblivion. That stuff was so horribly written, it was atrocious. At least, with this, it's semi-interesting. I'm anxious to check out the rebellion side of things and talk to Ulfric Stormcrow. The beginning of the game made it sound like he's a Dragonborn as well or at least has the ability to use Thu'uns as well, which is definitely intriguing.

So far, though, I've been trying to finish up what quests I can in Whiterun before I go gallivanting off to another city. Becoming the Thane after killing the first dragon is REALLY cool. That's a VERY cool story plot. They definitely seemed to have learned how to write better dialog and such.

Speaking of having too much time on my hands, I just started over cause I got bored of playing sword and board with my Khajit (level 30) and going doublefisted magic now with a Breton (lvl 4). Yup, way too much time on my hands, but magic is just too much fun to pass up.

I've played this WAY too much in the past couple of days. Starting to get burnt out on it.

Oh, I have like 70 or something in one-handed weapons at lvl 33, but it doesn't matter. I have 330 hitpoints (+30 from an amulet) but magic is absolutely RAPING me and I'm fighting Ancient Dragons now whose breathe weapon just completely DESTROYS me. It's damn frustrating. I may have to go back and make myself a really nice shield so I can work on getting blocking up more (currently at 40 something) cause I got bored of sword and board and went back to dual wielding one-handed weapons.

They will, but it will just be things like, "Go to this cave and kill these bandits." or something like that. Really simple stuff, though there are some great quests that can happen if you "accidentally" use your shouts in public places. ;)

Yeah, pretty much the only way to increase speechcraft is via books, "bartering" with merchants, being able to lie/persuade people through dialog options, or going to a trainer (the Bards College in Solitude).

As for the mages and such, it is definitely interesting that they've been wiped out. There seems to be quite a bit of hate toward the mages in Skyrim and it seems like they are almost being blamed for the Oblivion Crisis, even though it was clearly the Mythic Dawn cult who caused all of that. Maybe they are connecting necromancers with the Mythic Dawn or something? I'm not sure, but there is definitely a lot of hate for mages in Skyrim.

Right. all of that was within the first 30 or 40 hours before I actually did the rest of the main quest and found out how incredibly *** it all was.

Once again, a game that should have me putting 120+ hours into it got probably 50 hours or so and then completely uninstalled and never touched again.

They fucked up a LOT of things with Skyrim.

Can't believe I had put this game down for six months. Mainly was waiting out the patches (now they're currently at v. 1.05) then just kinda got wrapped up in other games. Played a ton of this after DJ'ing on Saturday night. Just like riding a bike. Had to make sure to save often. There were some hairy situations I got myself into in a dungeon and also against the Forlorn.

Currently using an Elven Mace in one hand and the fire spell that shoots out a constant flame in the other hand.

Skyrim 1.7 patch headed to PS3 'in the coming weeks,' but Dawnguard is nowhere in sight (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/27/skyrims-1-7-patch-headed-to-ps3-in-the-coming-weeks-but-dawn/)

Don't fret, PlayStation 3 Skyrimmers, Bethesda says the game's 1.7 patch is heading to Sony's console "in the coming weeks." Bethesda acknowledged as much in a tweet yesterday afternoon. The game's 1.7 patch on PS3 includes the various updates from 1.6 (mounted combat, new kill cams, etc.), but it falls short of adding the Dawnguard DLC, which is still exclusive to Xbox 360.

That DLC was issued a 30-day exclusivity period earlier this year – a period which expires today, reports Kotaku – but Bethesda's VP of marketing Pete Hines stated on Twitter, "We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I'd tell you." He followed that up by saying, "I was simply stating that expecting/demanding something today is unfounded. Not that news is never coming." It sounds like Dawnguard may yet head to other platforms (eventually).

We've reached out to Bethesda for further comment and will let you know if we hear back.

You're wasting your time JB. Dawnguard is a steaming pile of shit from everything I've read from people that don't just flock to whatever shit Bethesda throws out.

Based on our complete opposite ends of interest in Oblivion and Skyrim, I'll probably love Dawnguard :D no matter the case, who the hell knows when it will be out for PS3.

I, most definitely, didn't buy that shit just like I didn't buy Oblivion or Skyrim. There's no way in hell I'd give Bethesda my money for the shit products that they put out.

My opinion on Dawnguard is based on numerous reviews I've read and heard from various media outlets. Only good review I've seen is from someone that buys pretty much anything Bethesda puts out (like you ;)).

Skyrim's 'Hearthfire' expansion tends the home September 4 (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/28/skyrim-hearthfire-expansion/)

Skyrim's "Hearthfire" expansion became official this morning – an add-on allowing adventurers who took one too many arrows to the knee to become domestics (Dovamestic?). Hearthfire enables players to build their own home, create additions to said home, and help raise children. Those rooms can be profession-specific – for instance, a room dedicated to herbalism. The joys of domestic life!

"From a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, and more," Bethesda said of the DLC. "Choose your land, customize your house, guard it from unwanted visitors, and turn your house into a home by adopting children." Apparently, in the fantasy world of Skyrim, houses aren't homes without children.

Hearthfire will be available September 4 on Xbox 360 for 400 Microsoft Points ($5), no other platforms are mentioned at this time. Skyrim's previous DLC, Dawnguard, took around a month to make its way to PC, but the PS3 version experienced some hiccups.

I wasn't aware of that issue. Which trophy is it specifically?

Yes because I don't have the patience to deal with all the bullshit to continue to play Skyrim. It's a very polished shitty game. The leveling system sucks. The Perk System is TERRIBLE. The story sucks. The dialog is only slightly better than Oblivion (which was TERRIBLE).

I am shocked you did not go with the 360 version knowing they had a 30 or so day exclusive for DLC. I guess trophies really are a big seal for you. Have to admit I was kinda pissed when Dawngaurd was downloaded and I lost my 100% completion for Skyrim. I do not want to play as a Vampire so there goes all that effort down the drain.

Dragonborn, available for download Dec. 4 for 1,600 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.

the game's hero will travel to Solstheim (North of Morrowind), TG Daily said, to stop a reawakened Dragonborn priest. Solstheim will expand the game's size by 10-15 percent.

I bet Microsoft is kicking themselves for dealing over money to Bethesda to make the DLC exclusive for one month. Thanks to Bethesda's inability to develop on PS3, Microsoft would have gotten exclusive DLC for free! :D

You might have some trouble even finding one. There was a lot of them available after release, but then a bunch of retailers had them at $99 and they all but seemed to disappear after that. I was going to get one, but I wouldn't pay anything over $50 for it. Oh well, the last thing I need is another giant box with a statue.

Yeah $50 or $60 is my top. As for statues, I definitely want the Alduin statue.

Going to be a tough find at that price. All major retailers are out of stock so most prices are inflated.

Deleted my last save and starting with a new character to make it all the way through the game, again, in anticipation of the DLC.

Good news for PS3 owners. (http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/18/skyrim-dlc-ps3-dragonborn-pc/)

Skyrim DLC Dragonborn comes to PC on February 5, and to PS3 sometime in the same month. The PS3 also finally gets the Hearthfire and Dawnguard expansions, with both expected to arrive in February as well. In what's seemingly a gesture to compensate for their delays, each expansion on PSN is half-price during its launch week.

Half-price is a nice gesture, especially when Dawnguard is $20 I think.

Was just going to post this. Hope it runs well for you guys. Dragonborn is far and away the best of the DLC. So many new creatures to play with. Plus the game ramps up the difficulty when you travel to Solstheim. Only real complaints are Hermaeus Mora's realm is the typical odd world of a Daedric Prince and riding a dragon is lame.

Still two more DLC's left for the 360 and eventually PC and PS3. Not much has been said other than something about the Redguard.

The other DLC already released will be out soon for PS3, and all of that DLC will be 50% off, including Dragonborn today for $9.99.

I would darn well hope so for all the delays and issues with the PS3 version. Dragonborn was easily worth the $20.00 and a steal at half that price. Dawngaurd not so much, unless you are really into vamps and wolves. I beat both and built all the houses with Hearthfire which is a good buy for the price. There is more to it than just building houses and of course a ton of glitches to go along with it.

The best addition and I do not recall when it was added was the Ebony Warrior, who only shows up once you reach level 80 and is easily the toughest fight in the game.

Some good news for 360 owners who do not have the DLC.

Major Nelson has informed all Xbox 360 owners though that the discount isn’t exclusive to PS3 only. Starting from February 19 and through to February 25, Dragonborn, Hearthfire and Dawnguard will also be discounted with 50% off.
