EA has released an official statement, sorry "organizational update", announcing that the mega-gaming company has reduced their workforce in some locations earlier today. Apparently, although EA hasn't responded, the company has cut 10% of its workforce.

Case in point. Capcom released their financial results from the end of Q1 2013. Resident Evil 6 sold 4.9M units. 4th best seller all-time for Capcom. They labeled it a disappointment for sales.

Yeah it's out of whack. Tomb Raider was like 2M units in one month and they did the same. I wonder how much of it is the "suits" expectations or they know/believe their share holders expect COD sales for any major title.

Yeah, that is just ridiculous. You look at the numbers of many games these days, and 4.9M units is great! But to label it a disappointment? Absolutely ridiculous. Extremely few games will ever reach Call of Duty numbers. If that's what they're aiming for, great, but if they're labeling games as a success or a disappointment based on those numbers, then that's just stupid.

It's actually barely any of that DLC. It's a whole new thing with a small amount of it being the DLC content that was originally for SR3.

I'm pretty positive that it's been said that the DLC portion is basically a few quests in the overall storyline of the game. Is the storyline going to be based around the ideas from the DLC? I don't know for sure, but it's MOST DEFINITELY not just the DLC.

NPD for April 2013 is in.

There is an absence of Tiger Woods in this months Top 10 software, not a single EA game in the top 10 for that matter. People used to love Golf and Tennis games but now they have become the bastard child of the sports genre. I tried to like Dead Island Riptide (which shocked me to see it at #2) but it is pretty brutal in single player and really setup for co-op. Some areas of the game I just flung my controller and said screw it. Too many zombies at one time in certain areas, limited fast travel and why have a character that uses guns and yet you can never find a gun (not including the little get off the boat sequence before you start Chapter One) is beyond me. I loved the original and even though the end frustrated me to no end I finally took down the final boss. I hope they take some of this success and implement a difficulty setup for single player if they decide to continue the franchise, which I hope they do.

Xbox 360: 130K (-44.9%) [NPD: Top selling platform, so everything including handhelds is less.]

That is one slow ass month when you are the top at 130K. Sony and Nintendo continue to hide their numbers. We are used to it with Sony but Nintendo stopped posting their hardware numbers just after the WiiU was released and the Wii was outselling it.

* People who get the NPD are noting that the Wii did around 40K this month and the WiiU did 37K.

If the movie is a Prime streaming movie, it's free. You're thinking of renting new releases, that's separate. Prime has it's own set of movies that are available to stream just like Netflix, and very similar in it's library.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

At the very least give the demo a shot. This is a pretty fun little game and I am really early in.

Just about finished with the Story mode in Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and just wanted to pimp how much fun this game is. The story and the voice acting draws you in. Your character rewrites history through the story but they give you what actually happened by finding collectables that go into detail about the places and people you just fought through. If you like FPS and Westerns this is a no brainier for $15.

I know there's a few of us here that loved the old SOCOM games. David Sears, the guy behind the original ones, has created a Kickstarter for H-Hour: World's Elite, which is being described as a "spiritual successor" to the old PS2 SOCOM games. I know it's been a very long time since we've had a real SOCOM, so if you really want one, this is your chance.

He said on the game's forums that the Kickstarter is simply to get a demo together for the PC, so that they can show it off and get a publisher. The ultimate goal is to get it on PS4.

That's exactly it. Expectations are WAY high and I think Sony is gonna feel it hard if they keep thinking that they are gonna sell more than they initially thought. The demand is high at the moment, but it will fall. It always does.

Exactly. I don't think the market has much to do with it. Nintendo released a current generation console 6 years after Microsoft and Sony, have a bare library, and are charging a ridiculous $350 for it. That thing should have never been above $250. I've also never thought it was too bright to release a console that has comparable graphics to the PS3 and 360 right around the time everyone is getting hyped for the next generation, either.

Yeah I dunno if it will reach Wii levels but the PS4 is going to be HOT this xmas. The E3 conference re: DRM has created a buzz along with the $100 lower price point and you have a perfect recipe that could mean demand exceeds supply.

MS may also have this problem but IMHO it will be more likely a result from being behind in manufacturing. But make no mistake about it MS will "spin" it too with we cannot keep up with the demand ignoring the fact that the demand for PS4 is simply greater by a factor of X.

That's it and really its a personal taste thing on the exclusives and controller.

There also could be an advantage to buying the more popular console. There always is a threat that a company will drop support for a console if it tanks. I don't think it will happen with XB1 but you never know.

It doesn't seem like either system has that many exclusive titles, so there isn't a roadblock there either for which way to "go". Although if budget could swing it, I'd like both, but not really worth it with so many shared titles.

I saw that posted and the theoretical gains but it would be interesting to see if that actually amounted to drastic difference. The graphical gains to the user isn't linear for the power increase, but perhaps the PS4 lives longer?
Not being a PC gamer anymore, specs don't always impress me, but I'm curious why PS4 doesn't offer the streaming gateway that XB1 does? Would love to get my Netflix and such through it.

The sheer amount of free games/stuff definitely made it was a better value than I ever got with XBL. I mean even when trying to copy Sony MS lays an egg with the free games they toss out. The one area where XBL dominates is in the exclusive arcade games and I do not see that happening the next gen as MS seems to be angering the Indie developers. Not to mention the next Trials will be multi-console.

Well I think PS4 will also have "most" of the apps (Netflix; Amazon; Hulu; etc....). I'm not interested in any of that stuff really but I think most of the apps will be on both consoles but perhaps there are some exclusives.

I just disagree with the whole "you can turn it off" concept. Yes MS has said this but it isn't off and MS has admitted that it is always listening for "XBox On". I just don't believe it can "ignore" everything else said while still being on to listen for "XBox On". But as long as you know what it is doing and don't have a problem with MS collecting info on you selling that info to others and the government also gaining that info on you more power to you.

Honestly I don't expect the memory to be an issue with 3rd party titles. Most will probably use the XB1 to make sure they don't do too much to F up the game on it. The only way you'd see a superior quality game is through Sony's exclusives versus the XB1 exclusives/3rd party titles. But the potential is there.

Really its mostly about the DRM/Used Games that people are most upset about with XB1 v. PS4 (and the price point). You don't seem to care about those issues so the XB1 will likely be fine for you.

Me I prefer the PS controller and PS exclusives over MS' so it was going to take something really strong from MS to get me to switch. They simply did not deliver IMHO as the "tv" stuff I don't care about. I buy gaming consoles to play games on nothing more nothing less.

The memory isn't going to be the difference. Sony's just using faster RAM. The CPU that's being used in the consoles is virtually identical, too. The major difference is the graphics chip, and the one Sony is using is said to be 50% more powerful than the one in the Xbox One. You didn't see the difference in games on both systems this generation because they were so close, but this time around you actually might. There's no doubt that their exclusive will look a lot better as well.

I guess whether or not games look the same again will depend upon whether or not Microsoft requires publishers to sign agreements that their games can't look much better on other systems if they want to released on the Xbox One, much like they did with the 360. That and if developers want to optimize their games for the PS4.

Guess I'm in the other boat from you..........trying to find a reason or what it is that would make me switch to PS4 and it is the of the exclusives using all the hardware that seems to be the driving reason. It's nothing to be running on developers kits or PCs, but the Xbox One games were reportedly running on custom PCs that were using graphics chips that were a good bit stronger than what will be the Xbox One. Not to mention they were reportedly using NVIDIA chips when the One will ship with an AMD chip.

A lot of Microsoft's games end up on PC, so if they've already got the PC version ready to go, why not show that one (which they reportedly did)? Throw in some impressive hardware, use a One controller, and then you could show a game running on a beefy PC that looks way better than anything anyone will ever see on the One.

That doesn't mean anything. Look at Titanfall. That game is being developed for the One and for PC. Considering they used hardware that is much more powerful than that in the One, they probably just showed the PC version and let people assume it was game play from the One.

It was already leaked out by multiple sources that Microsoft was not using development kits, but rather custom PCs that were said to be 2-3 times more powerful than the One. Those were NOT Xbox One games you were seeing. They may be coming to the One, but they sure as hell wont look like that (Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall were the 2 that I immediately thought looked too good to be true).

It has been successfully funded as of today and still have 4 days to spare. I really hope he stays true to the old SOCOM games and molds this game to be a successor to them. I'm pretty sure actual SOCOM is dead thanks to Sony/Zipper, so this may be the last chance for awhile to have combat similar to that style.

I know I was WAY more hardcore as a player when I was younger. Didn't care how hard a game was, if I started it, I wouldn't finish it until I beat it. Now that I'm mid-30s, if it ain't easy, it ain't for me.

But seriously, level 1-1 of SMB? You can warp all the way to the end using the 3rd or 4th pipe! I remember beating that going playing every level and not doing the turtle on the stairs trick as a kid (I HATED 7-3, 8-2, and 8-3).

I have no doubt in my mind that it's true. You can see that with the recent trend in games, even dating as little back as earlier in the generation and I think it has some to do with developers making the game too easy. Games like World at War, Killzone 2, Call of Duty 4, and other games released earlier in the generation were hard as nails. The later ones aren't even remotely challenging.

I read about people having a lot of problems on God of War 3/Ascension and I ran right through them with no problem. The same with The Last of Us. Hell, I don't think I even died 10 times on the hardest difficulty. I appreciate the hard games because it gives me a challenge (except Motorstorm RC - fuck you, RC) and I really miss the games that were actually a challenge to beat.

Nah, it wasn't real money. Everything in EVE is priced on their in game currency and enough of it can buy a month worth of playing time (normally $10 if I'm not mistaken though it could be $15) so when they talk about losing real money in that game, they're talking about the cargo of a ship that holds the in game currency that could be transferred into monthly playing time.

There aren't many games that don't include one of those horrible tropes toward woman though... I'd find it VERY difficult to enjoy most video games if I was a woman because the lack of inclusion isn't high. There are far more games with a female protagonist than you care to give credit for (Did not even check to see if they covered games like Skyrim/Fallout etc, where you can create a male/female character). If I played on PC I would still have it because of all the great mods. That said I still put a good 300 hours with the game and all the DLC. It is a good game despite it's flaws. Playing stealthy with a knife and bow was the most enjoyable for me.

I actually have it on 360 but unlike my PC, with kids I was never able to fully enjoy the game on the big screen due to having to be "daddy" but on my PC everyone seemingly leaves me alone and assumes I am doing work...lol

The Wii version was a lazy up-port of the DS version. This is as new as Animal Crossing can be and it's way better than any other version.

So, it seems in the last couple weeks, a brand spanking new Gamestop moved into a strip mall on the north side of town, just had their grand opening this past week, so I no longer have to make 15-20 minute (one way) trips down US 24 to the next town over to visit Gamestop.

I may actually start going back to Gamestop now, at least for new, release-day purchases (fuck them and their shitty, bend you over the table and ream you a new one used game prices). Go make the 5 minute drive through downtown to the Gamestop on the north side of town at 10am on release day and get a game, or wait for UPS to drop off my copy from Amazon anywhere between 1pm and 5pm (and who the hell knows when exactly it'll be, it changes every damn time). And it's actually a really nice store. Granted it's only a week old, but very roomy, much bigger than the store in Napoleon and it has better lighting and layout.

I may have to give some thought over the next week or two of possibly cancelling my Amazon pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V and moving it to Gamestop. A 15 minute trip to the north side of town and back and be playing by 10:30am, or wait for who the hell knows when UPS will get around to delivering my game between 1pm and 5pm. I will say it is nice to finally have one here. There's been one in Napoleon (15-20 minute drive one way) and Bryan (20-25 minute trip one way) for years, and making the drive was always a waste of gas and time since that was the only reason I had for going to either of those cities. So eventually I went 99.99% Amazon when it came to buying games, only once or twice picking them up at Walmart.

Being a town around 16,000, according to the last census though that seems low, I was also wondering why there was never a Gamestop in town. We've had two independent video game stores in town, but I've never really visited them. People have had issues with them in the past, plus they're located right in the middle of downtown on the main drag, which makes finding parking a bitch just to even stop in for two minutes.

People are finally starting to see how dumbly programmed that game is, how utterly boring it is after about 20 hours of doing the same shit over and over again, and how incredibly HORRIBLE the story is. Bethesda, as a company is SO god damn overrated. They haven't been involved with a game that has a story worth a fuck since Morrowind.

I will agree that Bethesda has monkey's running the QA department as their games are buggy as hell but they have made three games that I put at least 500 hours in. Skyrim, Fallout3 and Fallout New Vegas (Obsidian but published by Bethesda).
