Yeah I saw the same price last night too and balked. For some reason FPS games have been known to make me dizzy after a SHORT amount of time playing (i'm talking < 5 minutes). I tried just watching a gameplay video on youtube in fulls screen and sure enough was dizzy/sick/felt like I needed to throw up for about 2 hours last night.

I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if it releases here though. The first one did not.

Also, I'd forgotten about this, but the first Rugby League Live (which was actually not the first game in the series) got a pretty horrible review. They transitioned to the HD consoles and removed a bunch of features! (Sound familiar?) The former developer of Rugby League is Sidhe, the company that developed the Rugby Challenge title last year.

Also, 99% sure it will be a full $60 price point game, if it releases here.

It's going to be free to play, it's somehow connected to EVE?My current understanding, based on E3 and other information but not with any recent details, is that essentially the DUST 514 players will be mercenaries given missions by EVE players. There will be additional Corp (read: Guild) vs Corp aspects where the player has the ability to do their own thing, but the mercenary aspect is going to be a pretty big aspect. Basically, the two games are going to be very, very inter-connected. If one Corp takes control of a planet in Dust 514, that will be reflected in (and have an influence on) EVE Online. It's going to be very interesting to see if it works.

Call me crazy, but that was a good buy. Winner bought it for $428. Trade them in on Amazon at $8 a pop, you would have gotten a $584. $156 is a nice little return of investment. And that's just for the 73 NBA 2K11 games. It would have been probably over $600 with the remaining four of the seven extra games that were added in.

Metal Gears Solid 4, one of the best games of 2008, now has Trophy support. Just pop in the old disc and be prompted for an update – which we should all be used to with the PS3 by now.

The 516MB update adds 34 Trophies, which can be reviewed on the PlayStation Blog. Sony has also stated future retail versions of the game will offer native Trophy support out of the box, but no timeline was given about when those copies will hit. Now, let's go get our 45-minute cutscene on again!

Most definitely. I may think Republicans are insane, but, it's also the vocal minority of them that immediately comes to mind because they're the ones that smear their idiot selves all over the place and there are Democrats that are just as bad.

Some of the things have always been this way, but, the amount of times that it happens seems to be more frequent; therefore, my conclusion of seeing the shit for 28 years leads me to believe that, we, as a human race, are getting dumber because technology is making us all more lazy and less likely to learn the necessary things to strive as a normal human being. I've had no problems with the Elgato. I do prefer the software that comes with the Hauppauge(assuming it's the same), but I also love how small the Elgato is and that it doesn't require an external power supply. They're both going to be about the same price, too, so you really can't go wrong with either.

But like G said, it's worthless if you have a PS3.

I only have experience with the old/current Hauppauge but assuming the new one lets you capture in M2TS, I would say go with that one. I'm sure the Elgato is nice but my best guess is that since it captures in MP4, to do any extensive editing (highlight videos and the like), you would probably want to do so in Sony Vegas or a similar product. However, to do it in MP4, you'll need a more powerful computer than if you did it in M2TS with Vegas.

Also be aware that next gen will also block HDMI and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't remove the component connection altogether. There are ways around the ability to use HDMI but they are kind of hoops to jump through. Hopefully Sony & MS just realize that we're only interested in capturing video game footage, not movies as much and allow that while blocking other content.

PopCap Games announced a sequel to Plants vs. Zombies this morning, with the casually epic battle of flora vs undead returning next year. The game is expected to see the sun in the "first half of 2013," with a narrower window of "late spring" also mentioned.

As one would expect from a sequel, it will include new "features, settings, and situations," but there are no specific details at this time.

PopCap has been in heavy promotion of its PvZ franchise lately, with the Talking Zombatar expected later this year. Hitting the cross-promotion button, Zen Studios is expected to reveal a pinball table this weekend featuring a PopCap franchise. Doesn't take braaaaains to figure out what it'll likely be.

Beat it and got all the achievements on the second day of playing. Easily my favorite arcade title I've ever played on PS3 or 360. You'll be hard pressed to find another side scrolling platformer that does such a fantastic job of setting atmosphere. I literally loved every second of it.

I haven't played the single player campaign, but I did jump into some multiplayer Big Team Battle action the first week or so after the game came out. 99% of all of my Halo gameplay in the last two years has been playing Halo Reach multiplayer.

Damn hard drive was too thick to put in the cradle so I put it in there without the cradle and turned on the PS3 and it wouldn't recognize the hard drive...thought I was SOL, but took it out and put it back in and it worked. Just need to be careful not to bump the system too much and jar the HDD loose. In the process of restoring now.

Yeah, shouldn't have had any problem. Laptop HDDs (which is what these are) have to be standard sizes to fit into laptops so they should fit in the PS3 the same way.

Yep the one wall of the cradle curls over the HDD which was the problem...along with the HDD and cradle only going in half way when I cut out that wall. At least it worked without the cradle, and I don't intend on moving my system until PS4. :D

Snuck in a couple of rounds of Counterstrike: GO last night. I'm impressed for a shooter that cost me $12 (PS+ Price) I really dug it. It's fast paced, rounds go quick, no respawn. And it has a :plat: :nod:

For the PS3, they're not bad. On 360, there's one for 10,000 kills. I don't know why they have different lists. There's a couple on PS3 that look pretty challenging because it's all luck, but it's far more obtainable than the ones for 360.

I played the demo on 360 and didn't like it, but everyone says the full game is way better than the demo. Like you, I'm waiting for a price drop. Definitely getting it on PC, though, since people have said it's the best PC port in a long time.

Exato Games co-founder John Getty makes no apologies about the inspiration behind Guncraft. Yes, it's based on Minecraft. Problem?

Getty can afford to be flippant about Guncraft's origins because his game, while it resembles Minecraft, utilizes entirely different mechanics and goals, and it simply isn't a rip-off, he says. Guncraft spawned while Getty and his partner Alex Schlee were working on another game, Progenitor.

"Our artist and former programmer were having a talk about how Minecraft isn't objective-oriented enough," Getty recalls. "They thought that it would be awesome if it was like an FPS, which is an objective-driven genre, where you could also make use of the levels you intricately design. They also thought it would be awesome to be able to blow the crap out of said level, without getting banned from a server for trolling someone's masterpiece.

"I overheard the conversation and thought it was an awesome idea. After a week of drawing up some preliminary game-design documents, I pitched it to my partner, we both decided it was too good to pass up, and we postponed Progenitor in favor of Guncraft."

Guncraft is now a Kickstarter success story, raising more than $16,000 in March to continue development, and it's heading to PAX Prime in Seattle this week – in fact, it's heading to a very specific place on PAX's show floor. Guncraft has a booth right next to Minecraft's.

Getty and Schlee engineered this placement on purpose. They've tried to contact Minecraft creator Notch and the team at his development studio, Mojang, but they've largely been ignored. Guncraft's strategic placement is partly an attempt to get Notch's attention, and maybe even his feedback.

Mostly, Guncraft will be next to Minecraft to show players the differences between the two games, rather than to highlight the similarities.

"Our main purpose of getting a booth next to Mojang is to provide an open forum for comparison," Getty says. "We want to show the people exactly how different we are from Minecraft. We've always wanted an avenue to voice our opinions about 'rip-offs' and how we aren't one. Just as Notch borrowed from Infiniminer, we borrowed some of the construction and aesthetic elements of Minecraft and put our own unique spin on them."

Placing Guncraft next to Minecraft – Exato didn't try to differentiate the name, even – is a risky move. Getty hopes it's exactly this that will get Mojang talking to him.

"We do also want to talk with Mojang, so that's another reason we are neighbors. I really hope nobody thinks our primary purpose is to mooch off Minecraft, but I'm sure there will be some that do," Getty says. "We do have one TV that will be pointing directly toward their booth. I'm half tempted to play our Minecraft parody trailer on repeat, so they can see Crafty, our signature character, blow up Steve's head over and over again."

Guncraft is also commonly compared to Ace of Spades, which bills itself as a cross between Minecraft and Team Fortress 2. Getty responds to criticism as politely as possible, even when he disagrees fundamentally with the comments.

"I just find it ironic that people complain about our graphics but play Minecraft religiously, or tell us we are a rip-off of Minecraft when our core gameplay principles are polar opposites of each other," Getty says. "We share the same tech, that's it. Even our comparison to Ace of Spades is vague, at best. It's like comparing Halo to Call of Duty."

Whether Exato's efforts at PAX earn it a pat on the back from Mojang or angry backlash from thousands of potential fans, Getty has one peace offering that is practically guaranteed to work.

Orbitron Revolution developer Firebase Industries today unveiled Arcadecraft, an upcoming arcade management sim for PC and Xbox Live (though the developer hasn't clarified if it's coming to Arcade or Indie Games). As the above trailer shows, finally we'll all be able to realize our universal life goal: owning a dingy backstreet arcade.

Arcadecraft, Firebase tells us, chronicles the rollercoaster that was the 1980s arcade industry; the golden age of the early 80s, the mid-decade crash, and the return to glory towards the 90s. While Firebase hopes to include around 100 fictional machines in Arcadecraft, it's the real ups and downs of the 80s that impact how arcades evolve. As time goes on, black and white games progress into color, Laserdisc arrives along with two-player machines, and then there's the sacred invention of the 'continue.'

Similar to the 'Theme' games of the 90s, subtleties like the pricing and difficulty of machines can affect customer loyalty. There are peripheral influences too, like a home version reducing a machine's popularity, or a classic game riding a nostalgic second wave. Meanwhile, as the above trailer shows, arcades can be customized with pillars, graphics, and neon - lots of neon - while Xbox Live players get to see Avatars gracing their establishments.

Things Looking Worse for Defendants in Huge NCAA Player Likeness Lawsuit

An update today regarding the ongoing player likeness lawsuit against the NCAA, CLC, and Electronic Arts comes from AL.com who note some damning emails that could prove troublesome when the trial begins in 2013.

The emails discuss some developments over the years including the period of time where EA Sports and the NCAA had initially agreed to allow actual player names to be used in their college football and basketball series. That, of course, never came about but the discussion of such a deal is what matters here.

The lawsuit is the culmination of two high profile filings that were combined as led by Sam Keller and Ed O’Bannon. It alleges improper use of player likeness through various forms of merchandise and media including video games in which the parties in question conspired to avoid paying players for their rights. Some interesting details and claims regarding the case at hand were revealed when EA was reentered as a defendant after initially being dismissed.

EA has won a previous case regarding player likeness with the courts ruling video games are artistic works rather than commercial speech and therefore protected by the First Amendment. The Supreme Court last year established forms of media, producing expressive works of art, are not subject to judgments based on incorporating someone’s name or likeness.

This consolidated case in California looks as though it will be going much further and ultimately be the determining factor of how the NCAA proceeds in the future handling broadcasting rights, merchandising, and video games. Should a negative result come down, which one analyst has pegged as being a potential loss of $1 billion for EA, it would likely not just end the NCAA Football series but also with it any realistic possibility of college sports games being made in the future. The trial is set to begin on March 11, 2013.

Warner Bros. Interactive is bundling its archive of Midway arcade games once again, for sale on PS3 and Xbox 360. Midway Arcade Origins is a collection of "more than 30 classic, genre-defining Midway titles from the golden age of arcades," including Gauntlet, Joust, Spy Hunter, Marble Madness, Defender, and Rampage. There's no online multiplayer, but there are new Achievements, Trophies, and leaderboards.

The Backbone-developed collection will be available this November for $30. That's less than $1 a game! Or, as far as we're concerned, it's $30 for Marble Madness's music, with a bunch of free games included.

Damn. Which system? I got it on 360 when they gave me too many points on the Summer of Arcade promotion, so I had to use them before I lose them.

I want to eventually get it on PS3 because I have a SHIT LOAD of songs on the PS3.

I upped the ante to 94,000,000 current rank 325. My thumbs are sore. What control are you using JB? I have been sticking to the original with the analog sticks, switching to the d-pad and (A) button on the fast section. One thing is for sure, you can really loosen up the analog sticks on a new controller quickly with this game.

Because for console gamers it was new stuff.

Those games from Rockstar have GOTY versions that have been out over a year or more. Plus it includes that turd LA Noire which actually decreases the value of the package. Also no mention if RDR is including DLC.

How many discs would the 360 version be? LA Noire was 3, GTA + Liberty cities is 2, have no idea about Midnight club but at least one, same for RDR unless it does have the DLC the probably 2 like the GOTY version. I am assuming the 360 version comes with the suitcase you would needs to carry all those discs home? ;)

I'm going to post this in several different places so that anyone that could possibly want one will have a chance at it.

Arenanet (creator of Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2) is offering a Refer A Friend free trial for three people. The trial starts November 15th and lasts until midnight on the 18th. They'll be available to me to send out to people on the 12th (giving you plenty of time to download the client and everything).

I know most people here aren't too into MMOs, but this one is fuckin' fantastic (been pretty much all I've been playing for 2 months now) and, if you join, I'll create a new character and run around with ya and show ya the ropes. :)

If you want one, just let me know and I'll get you it when it becomes available to me on the 12th. There are only 3, so first come first serve (doubt I'll have to worry about that though).

Hope nobody wanted to play some online games on NBA 2K12. With no notice or warning whatsoever, 2K shut down the servers for NBA 2K12 on November 1st. One year since it's release, and no warning whatsoever given, and 2K12 already gets shut down. That's lower than even EA standards. I guess whatever it takes force your fans to buy the new roster update if they want to keep playing basketball online. :smh:

This. :D Unless it's a very complex PC game, I never even bother noticing the words "User Manual" in a game anymore (since physical user manuals are almost all but extinct on the consoles), I just pick up the controller and jump right into the game, learning (or re-learning if controls have been changed) as I go along. I'm gonna guess that most people who bought 2K12 didn't bother to read the user manual (or at least notice where it said that) either.

And like oweb, I wanna know if they did the same thing with 2K13, making the same statement. NCAA is the only sports game I go into each year willing to buy the new edition from the get go. But if 2K is going to make it business as usual with shutting down the servers of NBA 2K in November of the following year, I'm not gonna piss away my money on NBA 2K games anymore when I'm going to be forced to buy the new version every year if I want to play online.

And yeah, I had no idea about the manual. When I said no notice, I was talking like announcements and the like that we normally see from EA and others. At least warn people that the servers will be going down on this date, let the gaming websites pick up on it, not burying it somewhere inside a virtual user manual on a game disc and washing your hands of it all. I especially feel bad for anyone who bought 2K12 in recent months, getting maybe two or three months with it before part of the game was permanently disabled.

Take EA Locker, for example. Good luck finding rosters, anywhere, once the servers are taken offline for NCAA.

Yep. Thankfully with EA, they tend to keep the servers up for a lengthy period of time.

I have no doubt at all this is part of 2K's long term business plan. Shut the servers down for NBA 2K every year on November 1st, doing two things. A: Cutting down secondary used game sales since a lot of people won't be willing to buy a used game that has no online capability anymore. At least with EA and the sort, you have the option of paying $10 so you can go and play online. With 2K, online is permanently dead. And B: Shut down the servers, forcing people who bought 2K12 to either play offline only, or force them to buy 2K13 if they want to keep playing online.

It'd be like EA shutting down the servers for NCAA Football every year on August 1st. People didn't like NCAA 13 so they decided to stick with NCAA 12? Well screw you, buy NCAA 13 or enjoy playing nobody but the CPU. It's basically what this amounts to.

For the first time, I took advantage of a $48 pre-order from Newegg that they have become famous for. If the tracking is accurate, my free shipping on Call of Duty: Black Ops II has it arriving tomorrow. That's a hell of a deal to get it only one day later. Not sure if that is always the case, it was because this is such a big money making title for all retailers. Either way, my first $48 pre-order seems to have had good results.
