For those who are Elder Scrolls freaks like me, I went and downloaded The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall today. You have to play it with DOS Box though as this game came out in 1996. Bethesda released it out for free a couple years ago.

I always recommend selling on Amazon compared to just about anywhere else. Amazon still gets their cut, but it's a great place to sell your stuff as it's just so much easier to deal with than other places.

That was just the console. But like I said, the only reason I got that much was because I'm a rewards member and I had printed out a coupon for $50 extra, which stacked with my already 10% extra. They also give more for PS3s for some reason. For an Elite without the additional coupon, you'd be lucky to even get $60 store credit. If you had a 360 slim, they're worth over double.

We didn't. Developers stopped taking chances (except for small developers, like From Software) because of the ginormous amount of money spent on these games. During the 8-bit and 16-bit days, when it didn't take $10 million to make a game (as according to this article (http://games.ign.com/articles/708/708972p1.html)), you had so many games that were unforgiving or just ridiculously hard to beat in all genres. The only genre that continued that, somewhat, into the PS1 and PS2 days were the RPGs, and, even then, it was only by the small developers (like Nippon Ichi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nippon_Ichi)).

That's why games like I Wanna Be The Guy (http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/downloads.php) (a freeware indie computer game) are some of the best games out there. They don't fuck around. They're ridiculously difficult yet fun as hell. And, like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, they are engaging enough to get you to keep going.

As for the difficulty in games, there are plenty of tough games, especially when you bump up the difficulty on them. The gaming market is so much larger than in the 8 bit days and developers have to cater to a vast audience. While not exactly Indy, Super Meat boy is an example of a brutally tough game. They are out there in spades if that is what you are looking for. My reflexes are not what they once were and while I used to enjoy extreme challenges, I lack the desire and patience to replay levels over and over and over. Trials HD being the rare exception.

They've been saying that for years. That's a lot of contract stuff that they'll have to work out. I just don't see it happening. No way Micro$oft is going to be willing to share their profits with 20 different television makers just so they don't have console expenses.

For Sony, it might make sense, since they are a television manufacturer already (though it is a separate part of their company from their video game section), but there's no way Nintendo and Micro$oft are gonna go that route.

Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing how digital sales are doing through Steam because Valve never releases them. While there are estimations that Valve is 70% of the market share of digital media sales, it's basically impossible to what that equates to in sales numbers.

I will say this, because of something like Steam, I think PC game sales are pretty much only digital anymore. Steam allows you to pre-download the game but not play it without it being unlocked (day of release). Steam has ridiculous sales on games weeks after they have been out. I wouldn't be surprised if close to 50% of the sales for PC games is digitally through Steam or Amazon's download service. It's like you get every game you'd want to buy at the midnight release date. Why would you wait for the physical copy of it?

I need some advice. I will be buying Uncharted 3 on release but want to buy something else for this Thursday when I'm off work. I can't decide between Rage, Batman, and Battlefield 3.

I don't play multiplayer and only play these game for the campaign. Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards Rage but not 100% sure.

If you want depth/length, I'd go Batman... Rage was pretty shallow and not all that long. If you love guns & shooters, then Rage is probably your answer. I don't have any input on BF3.

RAGE was a huge disappointment for me. If you've played Borderlands, you have no reason to play RAGE as it's just a really poor version of Borderlands.

Battlefield 3 is getting horrible reviews for the singleplayer experience as it's just like Call of Duty in that it's horrible scripted shit that lasts 5-10 hours with no reason to play it more than once.

Batman is getting ridiculously good reviews and is being heralded as the best Superhero game EVER. Pretty easy choice in my opinion (and I HATED the first Batman game because of how linear it was).

I personally didnt think RAGE was a huge disappointment. I actually thought it was quite fun, but it has one of the worst endings EVER!!!!!!! The Battlefield single player is very much so like COD but seemingly all shooters have that same element to them now, fast paced, alot of action, and then its over, and like he said no real reason to replay it over again.

I thought the first Batman was great, but was NOT a big fan of the combat system (mainly in the challenge stuff....it wasn't that much of a hindrance in the SP campaign). The 2nd one is bigger and better according to friends, so I'll get around to the 2nd one eventually. Too many other games to knock out beforehand and getting it cheaper down the road is a nice side perk. :)

I did this a few hours ago. I know it says two or three days, but I'm secretly hoping it pops up way sooner than that. Also, a little heads up, once you download the program to your console, you HAVE to actually run it. I know a lot of people on the private forums were wondering why something wasn't working, and that's why. For me, I just selected run when the download complete notification popped up, so I didn't have the problem.

If anyone is interested in a Tower Defense game with significant Action RPG elements, you should definitely check out Dungeon Defenders. It's $15 on XBLA, PSN, or Steam and it's crazy addictive and I'm only playing by myself. The game has 4 player co-op.

There's lots of different upgrades for weapons and armor, there's pets to add to your arsenal, and there's plenty of upgrading to your character as well.

For those who have not tried it, I highly recommend Fight Night Champion Mode. It's the story mode that came with the game, and it is WELL WORTH $5 that PSN and XBLA are charging. The story telling and such was amazing with this mode.

And I am now backed up all to hell. :D I've been able to spend about 5 hours playing Assassin's Creed Revelations since last night. And Skyrim, MW3 and Halo Anniversary all just arrived today. And Homefront should be arrived from GameFly's used game sale sometime in the next week or so. Unfortunately for MW3 and Halo, it looks like they're getting shelved until this weekend. ACR is getting pulled out of my 360 tonight so I can put the rest of my night into Skyrim, and then spend the rest of the week between the two. This is gonna be hard trying to spend an actual decent amount of time delving into all these games.

I got to try out Gotham City Impostors for a good while last night and it's...different. It kind of feels like Bioshock 2 online, for those of you who may have played that. The game play was okay, but the extremely long matchmaking and loading times kind of killed it for me. Hopefully they get those taken care of before it's release next month, but it's at least on my radar for now.

I have the play and charge kit. I had the same issue with my cord not working after a while. I ended up buying the Quick Charge Kit, so I can put two battery packs into it to charge at the same time while using a third in my controller. If my pack in my controller starts to die, I just pop it out, take one off the charger, toss the dead one on the charger and pop the charged one into my controller. 5-10 seconds and I have a fully charged pack in my controller and I'm back to gaming.

And while Smooth and MVP are right that you need some Dark Jedi to offset the Jedi, that wasn't the problem. The problem was that Galaxies was supposed to be in the "original" Star Wars universe, where Jedi were rare. That was the aim going in -- having a Jedi character was a major accomplishment. It became easy though, and then the NGE (New Game Experience) was an absolute disaster.

Galaxies is a perfect example of a franchise that did way too much to try and get the "casual" fan while turning off their current fans left and right.

Fall of Man was amazing. Resistance 2 was utter garbage. Resistance 3 was a slight notch above R2 coming in at regular garbage. As mors said, it was only a matter of time. I suspect you'll be hearing the exact same thing about SOCOM over the upcoming months. S4 bombed so hard in sales I'd be shocked if they actually even thought about making another one. All for the best if they intend of making games like S4, anyway.

It was...weird. It had a little Uncharted in it. It had a little MAG. It had a little Call of Duty. It was basically an attempt at meshing all of today's popular shooters into one package and it backfired big time. It pains me to say this(S2 was one of my favorite games of all time), but S4 had ZERO SOCOM in it. I stopped playing after a week or so, and as it is now, the community is virtually completely dead. I still have my fingers crossed for SOCOM HD, but I'm not holding my breath.

If they'd made Jedi easy from the beginning, they would have had an overpopulation of Jedi but at least had a solid customer base to begin with. But by introducing the game with limited Jedi and then attempting to appease the casual fan later on, they were screwed. Their entire premise was dead on arrival.

That said, I was still a mega fan of it when it first hit store shelves and I could interact inside the Star Wars universe. TOR doesn't hold quite that appeal because of the setting, but at least the population of Jedi and Sith make sense in the context, rather than the overpopulation problem I mentioned above.

The sticks & d-pads are modular so you can move them around to any of the three spots that you prefer. As well, they have both the 360 & PS3 style d-pads & sticks. I wouldn't pay the price but if you could swap the buttons in & out as well as use it for both consoles, I'd consider it just to have a universal feel. As well, it appears to use the 360 size base so for those that hate the Dual-Shock size, you can have your cake & eat it too.

Damn, that's a good question. HD graphics are huge these days for me when it comes to video games, both console and PC. Achievements and Trophies have been responsible in the past for me going out of my way to do certain things in a game or replay games multiple times to do this or get that in achievements. Game patches are absolutely huge these days. In the past, a fucked up game was forever going to be a fucked up game and you were stuck Now-a-days, games that are fucked up on release can be patched and either corrected to how they should have been, or at least be corrected to the point of being playable if anything. Just those three options alone are all equally great and huge to me, I don't think I could ever choose just one to the greatest.

Not on the games I played. All the games I'm talking about involved online play, and in order for online play to work, you can't have two different versions. None of the games I ever listed had any major bugs or problems. NCAA '04 was one of the best games of all time, as was '07. Madden '04 and '07 were also amazing. SOCOM 2 was one of the best online shooters ever released and didn't have any major problems until over a year after it's release(when people started cheating on it). I do realize that some games re-released with some issues corrected, but none of the games I'm talking about.

You both are in essence right. Though personally I tend to be on the side of IOU on this one, there does seem to be more of a do it now and we will fix it later attitude but honestly that's everything these days.

Old consoles are better while you are at it. I love all the HD graphics but like others have already mentioned, console patches are the devil. Honestly how can you beta test (and then release) Skyrim on the PS3 and not find the lag that the majority of users are having. We have become frigging beta testers.

There's nothing to say that there wasn't a day when that was possible. Plenty of technology exists that allows for two people to play with different clients -- it all depends on what the server/client gives a damn about.

Also, for the record, several versions of NCAA had major bugs in the era you're citing. 2004 was great, I agree, but one of those years - 2002, I believe, had a bug that prevented Ohio State dynasties from proceeding beyond year one. I imagine Ohio State wasn't the only team effected, it's just the one I heard about.

Patches are bad, I'll agree with the above posters. But think, for a second, about the alternative. Some games, your Skyrim's, GTA's, etc, have a chance to move dates. Most of our favorite games don't. Hell, the majority of games don't move now. That's probably the biggest change with this generation of consoles (at least since the early days of the Playstation) -- no more dates moving a week or two or ten at the last minute. Because now game releases are timed to a T, and teams can't afford to miss it.

The thing this generation is going to be most known for, at the end of it all, is the embrace of the casual gamer (mostly via the Wii and then, to a lesser extent, the Kinect) and motion gaming (same). That is going to be the legacy of this generation. HD graphics were a given. Sadly, you are definitely correct. The embracing of the casual gamer has killed video games though (thus my stand that older games are better). Everything points toward handholding the player through most of the game with little deviation (at least in US games).

If you liked the early Tony Hawk games, this is more of the same, except on inline skates and graffiti. I preferred the original but the sequel on the Xbox was pretty good also. Sega does not go into what exactly will be involved (I am hoping both JSR and JSR Future with some actual HD graphics, not just throwing out it was made for 720p). I just hope they do not pull a lazy ass port like with Crazy Taxi.

Interesting. I actually liked Hitz the least. Loved Jam in the arcades but never thought it translated to consoles well. Absolutely loved Blitz though, but with the current limitations of the NFL license (another reason Mutant League makes more sense), I don't see it as nearly as much fun. Plus the fact that I've matured, I suppose.

Microsoft is allegedly going to raise the cap on gamerscore for XBLA titles from 200 to 400.

Microsoft will allegedly raise the Gamerscore and number of Achievements allowed for Xbox Live Arcade titles shortly. Xbox360Achievements.org reports, via an inside source, the base Gamerscore allotment will be raised from 200 to 400, with a max of 30 Achievements available per title instead of 20. Downloadable content will also receive more flexibility, doubling the potential Gamerscore procurement to 100, with up to eight Achievements allowed per quarter, with a max of four packs allowed over time.

The new rules will apparently go into effect between April 1 and May 31, with titles launching during that time having the option of going by either the old or new system. According to the site, all games after June 1 will be required to follow the new rules. We've contacted Microsoft for confirmation of the details.

So after watching the NCAA tournament nonstop from 12pm to 12am the last two days, I have been bitten hard by the college basketball bug. I've been able to find a couple auctions on eBay that end in the next 24 hours for both College Hoops 2k8 and NCAA Basketball 10, both going for almost the same price right now and at a reasonable price. So which one should I focus my main attention and bidding attempts on, CH2K8 or NCAA Basketball 10?

I never played NCAA BB 10, but I still play 2k8 a little. It's a fun game, but is beginning to show it's age. It gets me through that 3 days a year when I have to play some basketball.

That's what I've read from searches online. NCAA BB 10 still at least looks pretty decent graphically, but 2k8's graphics aren't the greatest. But then the 2k8 also has the superior dynasty/career/whatever mode of the two (from what I've read). While I like good graphics, I'd be able to overlook them if it means a deep, fun dynasty that I can pop in and play now and then when I have the time or when I get the college basketball itch.

I could get it used for super cheap at Gamestop, only problem is the closest Gamestop store that has it in stock (since they don't have any you can buy online from GS' website) is clear over in Warsaw, Indiana, 70+ miles away from me, which while I want to get one of these, driving 70+ miles just to buy it isn't something I'm willing to do.

Yeah, I saw that on Amazon. Some low, decently priced 2k8 and NCAA games on eBay, I'll have to check them out and see how the auctions go. Unfortunately GameStop is probably out of it and I very highly doubt that there's a copy within 25-30 miles of me.

And yep, just checked. Both used and new, GameStop has nothing for NCAA BB 10 at a store within 100 miles of me, and closest for 2k8 is that Indiana store, a 70-75 mile one-way trip, which is definitely out of the question for me for just a game. So looks like eBay is my last hope.

You're crazy if you don't think America's politics aren't the worst thing you've ever seen. We literally have a political party that votes against EVERYTHING that the other political party proposes, even if they originally agreed with the thing they're voting against.

It's one thing to get angry at a game. It's another to get so angry that you take that anger and do something stupid with it (aka, kill someone, hurt someone, etc).

Yeah but anger is agression and I think they said the study shows it leads to agression which is technically true. Anything can cause agression tho...stress, beer, and lack of sex.
