And, they are made as quickly as possible. It's ridiculous the turnaround time for some games. Like everything else, the game market is utterly saturated with game developers that don't know dick about making a game truly good and barely have the programmers to pull the game off. Amateur and Pro modes are not hard to pick up right away with the help of power boosting, controlling spin, and putt previews. Tour Pro will take some getting used to in learning how to read the putt without the putt preview.

Played through both Max Payne games in the past few weeks. MP1 doesn't hold up to time very well but is still decent enough for a playthrough but I was quite surprised how well MP2 held up. Honestly, MP2 gives me vibes of the Uncharted series... obviously different story lines and the bullet-time stuff in MP is obviously different, but otherwise similar feel to it. I'll be curious how well MP3 is put together... just hope it's not Kane & Lynch with a single character which for some reason I can see happening.

That's often misrepresented... they said the console would have a 10 year life cycle, meaning they would support it for 10 years or more, just like they did with the PS2. Obviously the PS3 overlapped that 10 years, just like there's a strong likelihood that the PS4 would overlap the 10 years of the PS3.

It's completely fine with me too. Something tells me Microsoft's next console won't be much more than a few more mechanical upgrades + blu ray. If they're supposedly all set to announce something at the 2012 E3.

And if that happens...GOOD, no more EA SPORTS limitations because of 360 disc space.

MS and their ignorant marriage to DVD has held back this gen. I'd love to see them go to BR. But if they wait till late 2012, it'll be almost too little too late, IMO.

I would also expect a fairly noticeable jump in graphics capabilities, you'll probably see Kinect integrated somehow, Live will be beefed up even further, etc..

I sure as hell know I won't. If it's not a significant upgrade over the 360, I'm certainly not spending my money on it, at least not until it's been on the market multiple years and the prices have dropped way down.

No way I'd upgrade without significant upgrades to the hardware of either console. The 360 is a 7 year old console now and it's REALLY starting to show. The only reason why the games are still continuing to look a bit better is because they are limiting the view distance (either by having smaller game environments or through fog of war effects/pixel blurring). The technology that both consoles are built with isn't much to write home about. Micro$oft will have to put some pretty significant upgrades into their next console to get most people to jump, I would think (unless they completely disregarded the 360 and thereby made people upgrade to be able to play anything).

We don't have a MLB 2K10 thread here, so I'll just toss this in here. I put MLB 2K10 in for the first time since July 13th last year. My very first game, a play now game of Philadelphia at Colorado, playing as the Rockies. The stat line from the game:

Going into the top of the 6th inning, there were a grand total of 5 hits combined by both teams. I managed to get six straight strikeouts between the 4th and 5th innings with Ubaldo Jimenez, while I also constantly struck out, popped out, and flied out during my time at the plate.

This game was so close and so difficult for either team to pull ahead, that it wasn't until Todd Helton hit a double in the bottom of the 7th inning before either team had actually managed to get past 2nd base all game, with Helton advancing Troy Tulowitzki over to 3rd from 1st.

Of course, with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, I still managed to fuck it up, striking out with Chris Ianneta and then flying out to shallow center field with Ian Stewart, and then thinking I could manage to steal home just after the catch was made, got tagged out trying to scamper my ass back to 3rd. :fp:

Managed to recover with forcing two strikeouts and a ground out in the top of the 8th. Bottom of the 8th, struck out with Seth Smith, then brought Miguel Olivo in as a pinch hitter for Jimenez. First pitch, a fast ball right down the middle, smashed that bitch out of left field for a home run, the game winning score.

A couple shitty at bats with my last couple batters, then back to the field with Huston Street on the mound to force a ground out and two strike outs, and that's the ballgame. A 1-0 win in which Troy Tulowitzki and Miguel Olivo were the only players in the entire game, for either team, to ever get past second base.

Of the hits in the game, all four Philly hits were singles, with Shane Victorino being the only Philly to reach second base on a steal. Of the Rockies seven hits, five were singles, one double, and one home run. Overall, the Rockies batted .233, while the Philles were .133 at the plate.

It was quite the battle. Rockies pitchers ended the game with 15 strike outs, with Jimenez getting 13 strikeouts over 8 full innings, and then Street coming in to close things out in the 9th and adding two more strikeouts. Phillies pitchers managed to strike me out 7 times, all of them by Roy Halladay in 7 2/3 innings.

Playing MLB 2K10 for my first time in 358 days, that was one hell of a baseball game to start back up in the game with.

Just finished my second game in my Return to Baseball Tour on MLB 2K10. This time, I just completed a career game. For the first time ever, in my entire career on baseball games, from MLB The Show on PS2, to all of the games that I have owned/played in the 2K series, I have finally pitched my first ever perfect game. Of the 27 batters I faced, I struck out 18.

I'm sorry to say psuexv, that it was the Pirates who faced my feat of greatness.

The game isn't big enough for it's own thread but I just have to sing the praises of Enslaved some more. I absolutely LOVED it. It's the 2nd best game I've played for the first time, this year (Mass Effect 2 being the best). I found the Ninja Gaiden/God of War-like gameplay addicting but the best thing about the game is the "acting." Best acting in any game I've ever played, PERIOD. Even superior to Mass Effect. I'm not the type to get emotionally attached to characters but the driving force that kept me playing was the relationship between the 2 main characters. It's a simple adversaries-to-best friends-through-a-shared-traumatic-experience story but watching it unfold was wholly believable. If you haven't played it, seriously, check it out.

I found the Ninja Gaiden/God of War-like gameplay addicting but the best thing about the game is the "acting." Best acting in any game I've ever played, PERIOD. Even superior to Mass Effect. I'm not the type to get emotionally attached to characters but the driving force that kept me playing was the relationship between the 2 main characters. It's a simple adversaries-to-best friends-through-a-shared-traumatic-experience story but watching it unfold was wholly believable. If you haven't played it, seriously, check it out.

Uh, no. I don't need to play on the lowest difficulty settings, unlike JB. :D Nah, that first game was just straight up a pitcher's duel. We'd both get a hit here and there, and then a couple strikeouts or forced to hit some ground outs or pop outs. I only had a pathetic 3 hits myself through 6 innings until I got the single from Tulo and double from Helton in the bottom of the 7th, then got the home run with Olivo in the 8th and a single with the batter after him to put me up to 7 hits, and that was it. Plus the fact that no one in the entire game, on either team, ever got past second base until that double by Helton in the bottom of the 7th. I thought for damn sure I was looking at extra innings because neither team could do a damn thing.

And my second game, besides being my first ever perfect game in my career of playing baseball video games, I was playing against the Pirates, so it's not really a shocker that they had little or no hits. :D And unfortunately, my offense took a bit more of a nosedive, as I ended the game with only 5 hits, and only managed two runs, both off of ground balls that got out into the outfield.

So my pitching is great, as I feel right at home and extremely comfortable with the analog stick for my pitching commands. It's my hitting that I suck ass at. I can't even begin to count how many times those fuckers threw a fastball literally right down the middle at me, and I swung very late (after the ball was already fucking past me!) because I'm still struggling at trying to get used to the pitch speeds and how soon I have to start swinging to hit the ball. :fp:

I'm most likely going to end up buying it. It has some crazy replay value with a New Game+ feature and so many different weapons/upgrades to weapons that it's incredibly intriguing and with it being part of the Summer XBLA games thing, it's not gonna be expensive (but, also, unfortunately, limits you from being able to play it until there's a PC release :()

So, I did buy Bastion and I've played a good two hours of it so far. The narration for this game is AMAZING. The story is definitely interesting, but slow moving and the combat is just pure joy. The beautiful thing is you can fully customize your difficulty through idols in shrines. More idols placed means it's more difficult but also means more money/experience.

If the game had item collecting (like Diablo), it would really put it over the top for XBLA games. As it is, I'll be playing the hell out of it for a while now (hoping it's fairly long in length, but don't know for sure about that).

It's fun, and definitely engrossing. The narration is awesome and the trials with the various weapons are fun/hard/frustrating as fuck but keep you coming back. Right now, I'm stuck on the shield one where you can't get hit more than twice by enemies and have to counter with your shield a good 25-30 times at various speeds and difficulties. It's quite difficult to do.

Yeah, it's a fun game. Actually ended up following the Broncos real life 2008 draft for the first two rounds. Ended up with Ryan Clady in the first round and Eddie Royal in the second. I was also able to snag Felix Jones in the second round, also got Josh Johnson, QB from San Diego in the 6th to be Jay Cutler's backup, among others.

And thanks to around 50 million in cap space, I was able to make some big improvements to the team through Free Agency. Picked up Jordan Gross at LT (21 OVR upgrade), Justin Smith at RE (16 OVR upgrade), Michael Boley at LOLB (14 OVR upgrade), Lance Briggs at ROLB (24 OVR upgrade).

Picked up Asante Samuel for my CB2 and Randall *** for CB3 behind Champ Bailey (CB2 was Dre' Bly at 77 and had no one for CB3) to give my CB corps a huge improvement. Also got Eugene Wilson to take over at FS1 in the future for John Lynch as he's going to potentially end up as trade bait this first season or will probably retire within a few seasons due to age. And still have around $10 million left in cap space. So already off to a great start.

If you think about it, it's a pretty huge ass mistake, assuming it happened to all the rewards members. PastaPadre "accidentally" Tweeted "NFL 2K15" out earlier and then claimed it was supposed to be a DM, presumably to Jon Robinson. Can't imagine the ESPN Gamer Blog--considering all of its exclusives with Madden NFL 12--being the place that reveals a possible return to NFL football for 2K Sports, however.

I'd speculate that there were 15 Legends for NHL 12, but there are only 9 player models on all of those promo materials.

After hearing the full pitch for Defiance, it's hard not to be impressed. It's a cross-platform third-person shooter MMO coming out for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It's also intricately tied into an upcoming television show on SyFy. The game is set in a near future version of San Francisco while the show is in St. Louis, and in both cities humanity needs to fight off the monstrous effects of alien terraforming.

From what's being said so far there'll be frequent cross-referencing between the show and the game world. Characters from the show may visit San Francisco after an episode airs. A few days later they'll show up in Defiance the game, and then when the next episode airs the character will return and report on his adventures. Going the other way, players of note in the game world (for instance, someone at the top of the PvP ladder) may be directly referenced in an episode.

Oh I know they do. Whenever I'm bored or not doing anything, I like to read the XBL Ban Support forums just to see what pathetic, lame-ass, clearly fake and lying excuses people are trying to make up and pass off as their reason for this or that. And for some of the snappy and witty comments and remarks made in return by the XBLPET team. :D

Hopefully if this guy does end up getting infections from somewhere, one of the XBLPET team shows up in his game and will ban him on the spot. I know they're actively patrolling and checking out MP games in WaW regularly every day to combat the infections problems.

It makes you completely invincible, you can sprint super fast, run through any wall and building on the map, see through and shoot people through buildings and walls, you can jump clear up to the top of the map and run around, etc. Basically it is every single cheat you could think of in a game like COD multi-player, all rolled into one. It's an 100% absolute game killer for anyone wanting to play.

Yep. It is virtually impossible anymore to find a multi-player game on World at War without someone with infections ruining it. XBLPET is banning everyone they catch using them, and trying to curb the use of them, but it's a losing effort in my eyes. They need to just shut down the entire servers and multi-player side of the game and just walk away. That game is dead for anyone wanting to play a legit game.

COD4 > MW2 > Black Ops > World at War online wise.

Really, the only one worth a shit was COD4, and that game is probably the best online game that has come out this generation. Except for the overpowered grenades, that game was fun as shit. Another game I just purchased is Toy Soldiers: Cold War (XBL Only). Great sequel and I can spend hours just playing the mini games and going to your weapon collection where you can try out all the weapons in the game.

Just tried out the Warhammer 40K Space Marine demo. I had a blast with it. As weird as it sounds, it's a shooter/melee 3rd person game and it feels an awful like God of War and Gears of War had a baby, and it's fun as hell. The shooting mechanics and player movement are almost exactly like Gears, while the melee system feels like God of War to me. It also has a jetpack level where you can launch yourself up in the air, and then power bomb a bunch of enemies all at once. Pretty sweet.

It went from a possible $20 title to a day one purchase if it has competitive multiplayer.

I thought it was very good, but also very short. I beat it on the second hardest difficulty in just a shade under 6 hours. It's a lot less stealth oriented than the past games, but I'd still recommend it especially with it being so cheap.

When I was much younger I played the shit out of the Wing Commander series, Privateer after that and then Star Lancer.
I loved the Privateer series where you started with a ship and from there decided if you wanted to be a cargo runner, pirate, hired gun or really whatever. Then you could upgrade your ship, buy new ships, take missions of all kinds. Spent a lot of hours on those games.

I played WC IV a ton on my PS1, but I really played a lot of X-Wing Alliance on the PC. I was a little behind the times, and didn't get into them when X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and XvT were all the rage, but I definitely enjoyed the ones I could play. When we look closely at a game like Medal of Honor, we see a game torn in half by two opposing imperatives: the desire to do some justice to the sacrifices of Marines in combat, and the need to offer an engaging game. In order for something like Medal of Honor to be considered a game (much less a commercially viable one) by modern standards, it has to provide a certain amount of mindless fun; unless you let players kill enemies like the Taliban by the hundreds, you probably don't have much of a game. But if you do let the player slaughter thousands without batting an eyelash, without ever making him think about the consequences of war, then you're offering an irresponsible—even offensive—fantasy-world version of a real conflict. This is a problem, on some level, in virtually all violent games. Even Nathan Drake, as likable a hero as they come, is by any reasonable definition a mass murderer. (And an glib one at that—a guy who says "That's gotta hurt" after shooting someone in the face.) It's not, from what I've played of either of them (which is, admittedly, very little). They are very short, from my understanding as well and both are pretty terrible. There are plenty of games out there that are like them, but better, though playing them on the PC might actually be more enjoyable because part of the issue was playing it on the 360, the controls were pretty shitty.

Personally, I wouldn't pay $5 for them, but that's just me as I have zero interest in them. If it's something that you're even halfway considering, you probably can't beat 10-15 hours worth of so-so gameplay for $5.

There's no such thing as team work anymore unless it revolves around covering the three different directions the other team can come from their spawn point while racing to see who can first get the best kill streak that totally fuckin' wipes the floor because there's barely any counter to it (or, none at all).

In playing the Gears 3 beta, I didn't really see too much of this. Hoping it stays that way when the game launches very soon.

Yeah, Gears 3 is a competitive man's shooter. It doesn't baby you like all the other shooters have started to do. If you suck at it, well...get better. They added little crutches here and there like the Sawed Off, but it's still heavily sided towards the "hardcore" player.

As lame as it sounds, I also have high hopes for MW3 after the info they released during last week's expo. It seems they realized that fans want a more refined COD4, and it appears we'll be getting something along those lines. I'm also pretty excited about BF3, but other than those 3, that's about all I'm looking forward to shooter wise this year.
