We have advanced to Week 5. Our first User vs User game of the season as Texas State takes on Sam Houston State. Arkansas State has a bye, all other teams have a game.

In a disappointing second half the FIU defense collapses and gives up 32 points, losing 53-29 to La Tech. I don’t even know if we forced a third down in the second half hahahaha GRRRRR.

Coach Abbott and the UNLV Rebels prevail in their opening game of conference play, beating Fresno State 35-17. Leaning on their 3 headed monster at HB, rushing for nearly 200 yards and passing for 223, 2 TD’s, and completing 81% of passes. The defense also stepped up with 2 picks, including a pick 6. Fresno state scored late to make it somewhat respectable.

The QB change has been the pivotal moment of the season where the 4th string QB has become the starter and has improved by 2 overall, lighting up defenses. UNLV is now 2-0 at home and 0-2 in away games.

Today the South Florida Bulls lost not only on the field but off as well. The Bulls lost in their AAC conference opener against Tulane 36-24. But even more heartbreaking is the loss of starting QB Byrum Brown who is out for the next 6 weeks. Thankfully there are two Bye weeks during that time allowing him to rest up, but in the meantime, the team will struggle without his leadership.

In the game, the Bulls just couldn't get anything started, particularly after Brown went down in the 3rd quarter. Brown was doing well, completing 73% of his passes but unfortunately his replacement, the untested Freshman Israel Carter, just couldn't step up, ultimately throwing 3 interceptions and completing only 2/10 passes.

Defensively, the Bulls allowed 545 yards of total offense to the Green Wave including 389 passing yards on the day. A week ago, the defense was stifling, particularly against the air attack but this week, they came in too confident, and it cost them.

Next week, the Bulls have a week to regroup and come up with a new gameplan in Brown's absence. Only time will tell what they look like after their first break of the season.
