I think he's reading too much into it. There's several screenshots that exist of the user being notified they should make a substitution to avoid the player becoming injured and even a screenshot of a player with an injury:

There's also the gameplay trailer that shows Jackson Arnold injured on the field.

If EA is letting real players transfer freely, I don't think injuries would be an issue.
