View Full Version : TGT's Guide to E3 2018

E3 2018 and accompanying developer conferences are upon us. Once a three-day event, studios have spaced announcements over a week+ span to get what they believe is a proper share of the limelight and avoid being lost in the shuffle. However, one could argue that due to the sheer volume of announcements, game information could still get overlooked despite attempts to stand out.
To help keep you up-to-date with all the happenings at and surrounding E3, TGT has put together a guide to all of the press conferences by companies and studios such as Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and others.
Continue on to see TGT’s guide to E3. Check back often as we update this article with the latest links, information, recaps, discussion, and more. Threads devoted to new games announced will likely be added to our Other Games Forum (http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?20-Other-Video-Games).

Looking good for the schedule. Only one that might interfere with my work schedule is Square Enix, and I'm fine as long as they keep it under an hour. And even then, the only game of theirs I give a damn about is hoping to see any new info on Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Everything else I'll be good for. Anxious to see what Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sony and Bethesda have. EA, eh, not so much, only Battlefield V has any interest for me.
Whereas I used to buy NHL, FIFA and NCAA nearly every year and Madden maybe every other year, I'm to the point that Madden is a once a decade purchase (or an extreme $15 or less February sale purchase), and I'm probably going to dial FIFA and NHL back to once every 2-3 years purchase going forward here as I end up not giving them enough gameplay to justify the cost with all the other games I try and shuffle time on every year.
My most wanted list for info and new video of games at E3: Final Fantasy VII Remake, Battlefield V, Halo 6, Gears of War, new TES game, Fallout 76, The Division 2, Skull and Bones, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Death Stranding, Battle of Tsushima, Days Gone, The Last of Us 2 and Spider Man.
And I wish Rollercoaster Tycoon wasn't just Nintendo. If that was a full release on PS4 or Xbox One, I'd buy the hell out of that. Though I'm sure there are plenty of options on Steam to scratch my Rollercoaster Tycoon itch.

After all these years of waiting... I just want to hear/see something about Cyberpunk !!!I'll be honest, while I've heard of Cyberpunk, I haven't really followed anything on the game, so I have no clue what it's even supposed to be about. But if I see video of and it impresses me, it may jump on my radar. E3 is terrible for my bank account. :D
New games I'd like to see announced, besides a new TES game, I'd love to get surprised with announcement of Just Cause 4. I doubt it'd happen though, it's only been 3 years since 3 was released. JC1 released in 2006, JC2 in 2010 and JC3 in 2015. Based on that time line, I'm guessing 2020 before JC4 would maybe be released.
I'd also love to see some more remasters or ports of Final Fantasy games. I have the original FF7, FF9, FF10, the remastered FF12 International edition, FF Type-0 HD and FF15 all for PS4. I'd love to see Square Enix announce the release of FF8 (even though it gets shit on by Final Fantasy fans, I always enjoyed the hell out of that game) and FF Tactics for the PS4 at E3.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is my most anticipated game, unless Bethesda decides to talk about ES6. Though I doubt it will be mentioned due to the new Fallout game.
Top Spin 5 or a new Virtua Tennis would be make me the happiest.

Another game I completely forgot about, a new Splinter Cell! I am full expecting a new Splinter Cell to be announced, after Sam Fisher made an appearance as a DLC mission in Ghost Recon Wildlands. I can't see them going through the effort of creating Sam Fisher for a simple DLC mission in Wildlands without there being some sort of message behind it.

Lots of rumors swirling around, but some of the more interesting:
- Rumor: Crackdown 3 delayed to 2019?
- Rumor: Rocksteady's unannounced DC game is a Superman title including other playable DC characters and Brainiac as the villain.
Today's PlayStation announcement: Days Gone will release February 22, 2019.

Well I'll be damned. We might just see Just Cause 4 announced! If it is unveiled at E3, I still don't see it having release date any earlier than spring 2019, only three years just seems way too quick to pump out an entire new Just Cause game. But then who knows, I wasn't expecting (hoping, but not expecting) a new Fallout so soon.

Moving days gone to February is probably smart. I think it looks solid but no where near the quality of GOW or HZD.

Crackdown 3 pushed to Feb 2019.
On one hand, it probably needs the extra time, since it has only been in development for five+ years. Was originally coming out in 2016 then 2017 and 2018. :fp: The other hand is looking pretty barren for first party MS games in 2018.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, with the previous leaks and now this, Just Cause 4 is confirmed, just a matter of waiting for an official announcement now.
https://www.polygon.com/2018/6/7/17440478/just-cause-4-leak-steam-e3-2018
The next entry in Avalanche Studios’ open-world sandbox adventure series, Just Cause (https://www.polygon.com/franchise/just-cause/7627), appears to have leaked on Steam. Promotional images for Just Cause 4, which has not yet been announced by Avalanche or publisher Square Enix, have appeared on Valve’s storefront.
Here’s a look at what Steam users have been served tonight: an image of what appears to be Just Cause series protagonist Rico Rodriguez overlooking a dark and stormy jungle scene. The image indicates that Just Cause 4 will be announced and available for pre-order soon.
The image doesn’t offer much in the way of detail on what to expect from Just Cause 4, but the game’s existence isn’t a surprise. Just Cause 4 was one of the unannounced games that appeared on Walmart Canada’s website last month (https://www.polygon.com/2018/5/9/17327148/splinter-cell-gears-of-war-5-e3-2018-leak) alongside Rage 2 (https://www.polygon.com/game/rage-2/40367), Lego DC Villains (https://www.polygon.com/game/lego-dc-super-villains/40365) and a new Assassin’s Creed game. Those titles have all since been confirmed by their publishers.
If Steam’s listing is accurate, Just Cause 4 would be one of three in-development projects at Avalanche Studios alongside Rage 2 for Bethesda Softworks and Generation Zero, which Avalanche will self-publish (https://www.polygon.com/2018/6/7/17437780/generation-zero-avalanche-studios-announcement).
The most recent entry in the Just Cause series, Just Cause 3 (https://www.polygon.com/game/just-cause-3/37912), was released for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One in 2015.

Reffaeding Anthem, the idea of a third person Destiny with Iran Man suits sounds cool. I like the fact it is more story based and geared more for solo play. But that demo video wasn’t super smooth. I don’t like the damage results on screen either. Hopefully that can be made smaller or turned off. The core fighting will have to be good. Just comparing Destiny 2 vs MEA and Destiny won by a mile. Bioware has some time before release to fix things.

New screens of Just Cause 4 have leaked. if they don't have Welcome to the Jungle as the intro song on the main menu, I am going to be very disappointed. And we got tornadoes! Or at least one tornado. Hopefully this means we're getting dynamic weather introduced to the Just Cause series, similar to Fallout and other series. Except instead of just simple clear, cloudy, rain, storm, hopefully that includes tornadoes as well, unless that's a screenshot from a mission.
First Batch of Just Cause 4 Screenshots Leaked Online
Leaks keep happening at an ever-growing rate this year. The same source that provided the first leaked images for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (https://wccftech.com/assassins-creed-odyssey-first-screens-leak/), German website GamePro, also did the same for Just Cause 4. Clearly, they jumped the gun in both cases by publishing the assets way earlier than intended.
Anyway, below you can find the six screenshots showcasing the rather beautiful game world of Just Cause 4. Ironically, we first learned of the game thanks to another leak, that time originated from Steam itself (https://wccftech.com/just-cause-4-leaked-steam-ad/).
The developer hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it should be Avalanche Studios. The team has been in the news frequently these past weeks, between the partnership with id Software and Bethesda to create RAGE 2 (https://wccftech.com/rage-2-true-open-world-fps-experience/), their self-published open world co-op game Generation Zero (https://wccftech.com/generation-zero-avalanche-announced/) and their acquisition by Nordisk Film (https://wccftech.com/avalanche-studios-bought-nordisk-films/). Oh, they’ve also opened a third studio in Malmö, Sweden (https://wccftech.com/rage-2-avalanche-studios-new-studio/), in addition to the existing offices located in Stockholm, Sweden, and New York City.
We’ll probably learn a lot more about Just Cause 4 during the Square Enix E3 2018 Showcase, scheduled for June 11th, 10 AM Pacific Time. (https://e3.square-enix-games.com/en-us/)

Of course that was well after release when they had the JC3 XL Edition with all three DLC packs included (basically a Complete Edition), so they may fixed any issues by the time I got it.

Now Ralph Fulton from Playground Games is on stage to talk about FH4. The game. Is set in Britain. It features dynamic seasons and a shared open world.
It's truly shared open worlds, you'll be playing in a instance of the game with a bunch of other actual players.
They have four people on stage playing with different vehicles. Seasons just changed from summer to fall. You can seemlessly enter co-op from within the game world. Now transitioning to winter. The lake freezes over in winter and can be driven on, and you can reach previously inaccessible areas. And now onto spring, with driving in rain.

Moving onto the next video, a world premiere. The Division 2 indeed set in Washington DC. No actual game play, but the premiere video/backstory looked damn awesome.
Now they are showing game play. Showing a four person team, must he in co-op. The group runs into another group armed with weapons, though they're friendly. Apparently you will have both friendly and hostile groups of people, rather than just enemies and useless civilians in the streets.
Approaching a crashed Air Force One, the group of three split up to attack a group of hostile from different directions and flanks. It appears the environment is destructive. One player got their foot stuck in rocks, another player destroyed the rocks with a shotgun, as well as blew up a enemy's cover.
The Division 2 will release March 15, 2019.
Now Ashley Speicher is on stage, the head of Xbox Game Pass. Invented a way to start games twice as fast, called Fast Start, using machine learning techniques based on ways gamers play games, and will get better over time. Fast Start will release for select titles in the June update coming later this month.
New games being added to Game Pass include Halo: Master Chief Collection, all new exclusives from Microsoft Studios including Forza Horizon 4 and Crackdown 3 from day 1.

A new feature is technical and narrative advancement for the franchise. Your choices will have genuine consequences, from how it looks, to how it plays and the events that occur, everything in the game world can change based on your decisions.

After the mission, the faction brings brings stability and development to the surrounding area and city, including running water on the street level, raising morale and you can replenish your energy on the go. There's a cost however, the faction has a rigid approach to law and order, so while the streets may be safer, it's only safer for those who side with them, and if you get on their bad side, life is gonna get difficult.
Now going back to the previous mission and instead of doing the mission and killing the group for water access, you decide to team up with the group and instead supply water on the black market. Consequences change. With water being a precious currency, it brings you access to new resources and trade, but it in turn attracts the worse type of people to the area.
It is just one choice in a game full of choices that have consequences.

Yeah, I thought we'd hear something on Skull and Bones considering they had a 7 or 8 minute section on solely The Division 2, which is also an Ubisoft game. I guess Ubisoft decided to hold back S&B until they press conference tomorrow afternoon.
I know Skull and Bones got delayed. Plus the new AC has naval battles again. Maybe that game gets cut?

Pete Hines, Global Senior VP of Bethesda on stage to start the show.
Starting with Rage 2, as Pete said, announced a few weeks ago through their partners at Walmart. :D
The hell? There's a live band performing on stage now. Even some of the crowd has looks on their face like "what the hell is happening right now?" :D
Studio Director for ID Software and Game Director for Avalanche Studios now on stage. In a dystopian future, you play as Walker, the last ranger of the wasteland. Now taking a look at the extended world and gameplay of Rage 2. Now showing Pre-Alpha gameplay footage of a mission.
I'm getting some very strong Bulletstorm-type vibes from watching this gameplay trailer of Rage 2.

Now we're talking about The Elder Scrolls Legends. It's being relaunched with brand new visuals. It will be available later this year on PS4, XB1 and Switch. It can be played right now on PC, Mobile or Tablet and will carry over to the console versions via your bethesda.net account.
Meh, I'd rather have a full blown true Elder Scrolls, not some mobile card game.
Now onto the Summerset DLC for TES Online. If they're going to announce a true new TES game, it's gonna be coming up shortly. Get Legends and Online out of the way and then kick things up a notch with the reveal of a new TES.
Over 11 million players for TES Online, over a million of those in just the last year. Named MMO of the year for the third straight year. Next DLC will be a dungeon DLC based around werewolves. Another named Murkmire taking place in Blackmarsh coming out later this year.

Alright, that was funny as hell. :D
Now we're talking about Fallout 76. Prequel to all other Fallout games, and 4 times the size of Fallout 4. Once of the first people to emerge into an untamed wasteland.
Currently showing the same trailer that played in the Microsoft conference.
Now playing a video showing Reclamation Day in Vault 76. I think this may actually be a gameplay video.
All new rendering, lightning and landscape technology. 6 distinct regions you'll discover. New creatures. They even use the folklore of West Virginia. Shit, gonna be some creepy new creatures.
Multiplayer confirmed. Fallout 76 is entirely online. You CAN play the game solo. You can still be who you want and explore the world doing quests.
It'll be soft-core survival compared to survival modes of other Fallout games. Your character isn't tied to one server. You'll be in a world with dozens of other players. You can join your friends whenever you want and all of your progression goes with you. It'll be a wide open world with very few rules. The choices are yours and you'll decide what happens. You'll decide the heroes and you'll decide the villains.
Now showing some Vault-Tec informational videos.
Son of a bitch, there will be PVP it appears.
Again, you can still play solo, but you can also team up.
YOU CAN BUILD WHEREVER YOU WANT! It sounds to me like no more limited settlements, you can build wherever the fuck you feel like it. Yes! Your buildings and settlements can be DESTROYED by monsters and enemy attacks. There's a camera mode also added to the game.
Oh shit, there will be multiple nuclear missile sites on the map, and you can do whatever you want with them. Lots of death on the horizon I foresee!
You have to track down the individual letters of a launch code, and can launch a nuclear missile anywhere on the map you want.
100% dedicated servers to support this game now and for years to come.
There will be a Fallout 76 Beta. The "Break-It Early Test Application" sponsored by Vault-Tec.
There will be a Collector's Edition, that starts with a map of the world that "glows in the fucking dark". Comes with figures you can put on the map and a Fallout collectible, a wearable T-51 Power Armor helmet with working headlamp and voice modulation.
It will release November 14, 2018.

MS really did have a good conference year. 50 games, there was very little time for talking, it was just one premiere or gameplay video after another.

However, tomorrow is Christmas day for me. Square Enix, where there should be a full gameplay video of Just Cause 4 released and I hope to god a lot more details on Final Fantasy VII Remake (I'm holding out hope we'll get a release date announced tomorrow, though I doubt it).
And then the Ubisoft conference, I'm hoping for new stuff on The Division 2 (I can't imagine they would blow their only gameplay video on the Microsoft conference and not have something new for their own conference) and the new Assassin's Creed.

No, I don't have Game Pass, but I did inadvertantly end up with TES Online. I had it pulled up in the game store and had put my controller down to look up something online. I thought I had disabled the paddles on the back of my controller, but I apparently had not, as the paddle I assigned to A suddenly went nuts as it was pressed down on by the arm of the chair and before I could even pick up the controller, it was showing my accounti purchasing TES Online on my TV screen.
I thought about trying to get a refund from MS since I hadn't intended to actually purchase TES Online right then, but screw it. It was only $10 (as opposed to something like $30 or $60) and I probably would have ended up getting it at some point later, so I just kept it.

Our next contestant is The Division 2.
Julian Gerighty, the creative director is on stage.
7 months after the events of game one, the virus has mostly burnt itself out, but the nation is tearing itself apart. Under threat from dangerous factions, civilians are trying to rebuild.
Showing a new trailer separate from the one shown at the MS conference. A community of people living in a barricaded shelter is shown, along with a horse walking through the desolate streets. An injured person is crawling on the sidewalk, before being kicked into the street and his water bottle stolen. Two other people with guns are walking by while a woman and her child hide inside a destroyed restaurant.
Back outside into a back alley, dead dogs, bodies, stagnant water, flies and insects. Another civilian with her arms tied behind her back seemingly being dragged off to be executed while someone talks on a megaphone about rules and examples being made.
A gunshot happens off screen as the woman is executed, while a paper airplane flies off into the distance.
Next screen, it's picked up by a group of 3 people, who open it up and see the words Help written on it, while looking at the Washington monument and DC in the distance.
Back on stage, you're the last line of defense for the innocent. If you fail, history will be written by tyrants.
Your actions will have a clear impact on the lives of civilians. You will need to bring your equipment and tactical abilities to the next level.
You will unlock specializations, weapons and skills and you complete the game.
Speaking of teamwork, for the first time, 8 players will be able to partner up in the game to face the ultimate endgame challenge. Raids are coming to The Division 2.
They're launching with plans for years of frequent content updates.
Year One - They will be launching 3 DLCs in the form of episodes, bringing new story, activities and new areas to explore.
All 3 episodes will be completely FREE.
The post-show after the conference will have a 30 minute deep dive into The Division 2.
Closing out with another new video trailer of The Division 2.
The Division 2 will release March 15, 2019.

The conference is off and running and we are watching a dancing panda bear with a marching band and other really weird shit, lol.
This has gotta be Just Dance or something.
Yep, that's what it is. Oh dear, the dancing panda bear is in the theater now.
Another extremely over produced live music band and dancing performance for Just Dance 2019.
Ubisoft really loves their live performances.
Just Dance 2019 releases this October.

Moving on, next up is an Ubisoft Singapore production.
PIRACY IS DEAD flashes on the screen.
LONG LIVE PIRACY flashes next as a voice speaks and video of pirates plays.
Say hello to Skull & Bones!
Goddamn this game looks amazing.
Justin Farren, creative director at Ubi Singapore is on stage now.
Piracy is dead in the Caribbean. So now off to pirate and plunder in the Indian Ocean.
We're going to steal "every last fucking coin".
Reactive and evolving world. There will be changes in factions, the weather and the trade routes themselves.
The essence of Skull & Bones, a shared world where every interaction matters.
Now onto a new video trailer.
I'm getting a very strong Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag vibe as far as controlling your ship, the ocean warfare with cannons, and the overall on the seas controls. It looks very similar, if not the same as it was in Black Flag.
I'm not sure if these other ships in this video are AI or human controlled.
Skull and Bones comes out 2019.
You can sign up for a chance to play early, but I can't see what the website is.

Sounds like it's a narrative game. Frodo is on stage!
I still have no clue what the hell this game is about despite them talking about it.
Sounds like it'll be on regular consoles and VR.
This seems like another movie narrative type game similar to Late Shift and others.
It'll be available Fall 2018.

Our next contestant is For Honor.
Roman Campos-Oriola, the creative director at Ubi Montreal is on stage.
In celebration of E3, they're inviting new players to join.
If you haven't played yet, starting today through next Monday, they're giving away the PC Starter Edition on UPLay for free.
Building on everything that they've learned, they're ready to expand their world.
Now launching into a video trailer.
For Honor Marching Fire DLC is coming.
A new faction, four new fighters, and more coming to For Honor. They biggest and most ambitious addition so far.
Answering a huge request from the community, a new 4 v 4 player mode. It's called Breach, a castle siege mode.
I didn't see a release date for it.

In just a few days, freedom will be ours. Vehicles include car, bike, boat and plane.
Releases on June 29th.
The open beta will be available on PS4, XB1 and PC on June 21st, you can preload it now.
Seems a little odd to release a beta literally 8 days before the game itself releases.

Next game takes us to Greece. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is up now.
Just finished a video preview. Now Jonathan Dumont, creative director is on stage.
It's more than an adventure, it's an RPG journey. Both on land and on sea.
The Pelopennesian War will be taking place during Odyssey.
You will choose your characters, Alexios or Kassandra to play as. You share the blood line of the Spartan hero Leonidas and will be able to use his broken spear as a weapon.
They have changed the way they tell stories. You have multiple choices for answers and dialogue and can even lie, as shown in response to a question by Socrates.
And Assassin's Creed Odyssey is coming to your XBox, Playstation and/or PC on October 5th, 2018.

I give Sony's upcoming Conference an E for effort. Would have given them a gold participation star but that felt more like a Nintendo thing.
The biggest thing for me would be a Sony Pro console that does not sound like someone is starting a jet engine in your house. Still plan to get one for TLOU2, Days Gone, etc, but only with a major drop in price and a fan solution.

Thanks for the running commentary Scoop and all the individual game threads. Saved me a ton of time, you are the MVP of E3. Honorary mention to CDJ for numerous game threads.
Trials Rising will be mine and unlike you chumps, I dominate in Trials. ;) Even made a couple 5 star Enviorocross tracks that got some acclaim in Fusion. That is one game better played with the Xbox One controller. I played it mostly on the PS4 and tore the rubber off the analog sticks of three controllers. Plus the Xbox One has trigger rumble/feedback which makes it great for playing racing games on a controller.

I know the running commentary was always great for me when I couldn't watch the conferences live years ago, so when I'm able to, always nice to leave a running trail of commentary for those who can't watch it right then. And since MS, Bethesda, Ubisoft and Square have all been good at getting videos from their conferences up on Youtube immediately after (or literally during the conference as was the case of Ubisoft with some of the videos showing up while that game was still being talked about on stage), it was pretty simple to start knocking out some new game threads and get those videos posted while I had those YouTube channels opened up.

Todd Howard speaks about things.
Todd Howard is currently giving an interview with Geoff Keighly on YouTube and gave us a few tidbits about the things that Bethesda Game Studios is working on. Some of the highlights include
- Starfield has been in production for a long time and is a playable state.
- Starfield may have some sort of social connection to it, but make no mistake this is Bethesda's next big Single Player experience. Not an online focused game
- ESVI is in a pre production state. It is not currently in a playable capacity. The technology for the game still "doesn't exist yet but is getting closer" aka next generation consoles are approaching soon.
- Fallout 76 has the largest team that a BGS project has ever had.
Edit - there is some confusion if Todd was specifically commenting on the tech not existing yet was in regards to Starfield or Elder Scrolls VI. Either way he reiterated again that Starfield is a "next gen project" so it works either way.
https://www.usgamer.net/articles/fallout-76-will-support-mods-private-worlds-after-launch
Game designer Todd Howard revealed some new details about Fallout 76 today during an interview with host Geoff Keighley on YouTube Live at E3. "We love mods, so we are 100 percent committed to doing that in 76 as well. We will not be able to do that at launch though," Howard says. He goes on to note that at launch, Bethesda's goal is just to have a "well running, robust" service, and consideration for implementing mods will come sometime in the future. "You'll be able to have your own private world and be able to mod it and do all of that.
Mods and private worlds for Fallout 76. I am getting more excited about this one with each new detail.

Even though I think most of us are watching this live, I'll still throw up some notes as stuff happens here in case anyone's not able to watch live.
Got some banjo music going right now. I'm thinking this is a lead in to The Last of Us 2, but not positive. Yep, The Last of Us 2 it indeed is.
Game trailer now, got some banjo music going, people dancing in a room that looks rather like the set up Sony has for their conference right now, lol.
Now we got some girl on girl kissing going on. Lesbians confirmed! :D
And it transitions to one of them out in the woods stabbing a guy in the neck from behind. Now we're onto gameplay as she crouches down and sneaks behind cover in a swampy woods area, hiding from two other people up ahead.
There are a couple bodies hanging from trees, a destroyed car, nature appears to have taken over as there is broken up pavement and barely recognizable remains of a road. She approaches a group up ahead, watching someone hanging from a pole be stabbed in the heart and killed.
Whistles in the distance alert the group to trouble. They spread out to look, while the protagonist climbs into a decrepit parking garage to hide, before killing a guy from behind with a bow and arrow. She hides behind a van then sneaks up behind another guy. Before she can kill him, she gets spotted from the side by someone else, with a two on one melee royale breaking out. She kills both of them, but the noise draws attention and gunshots from others.
She hauls ass outside into tall grass and hides, but more people are closing in. She crawls under a truck to take cover as they search for her nearby. Someone crouches down and looks under the truck, and she shoots them, but then is pulled out by another. She managed to shoot and kill him, before taking cover behind a car and killing another person. Her gun is empty and she get shot by yet another person nearby. She picks up a body and uses it as a shield against an arrow, before dodging bullets and diving behind a counter inside a building.
Still hiding from three more people hunting her, she sneaks behind various objects and tries to evade them. A fourth person enters. She gets out her bow and arrow and fires an explosive arrow, killing one person before melee killing another. Despite getting tossed around and her ass kicked, she manages to kill a third person before finally taking the last one down to his knees with three arrows, before driving her blade into the side of his neck and finishing him off with a second melee strike.
And we transition back into the lesbian kiss.
And title screen. The Last of Us Part 2. No release date was given.
And apparently the Showcase is taking an intermission now.

Finally! Back into game videos.
After 20 bloody minutes, finally we got video going. Must be Ghosts of Tsushima.
Day 9 of the Mongol Invasion, we're following a Japanese warrior. Looking over sun reflected fields, you can see smoke and fire and destruction in the distance. Now riding a horse through the fields and into woods. Off to fight the Mongols!
3 on 1 Mongol action! Dude just fucked up one Mongol with a single sword slash. Fucked up the second guy and now the third. Two more come rushing in, and just as quickly die. Another guy comes rushing, only to get shot in the back with an arrow from a second character, before being finished with a sword to the back by our main guy.
Sneaking up towards a temple, it's a death gangbang as sword guy slices and dices one while the other person takes an arrow in the back of the head. Some climbing and jumping, now up on a roof, more sneaking around and inside the temple via the roof. Sneaking through the rafters, and we jump and drive a sword through the guys head. A couple more quick kills, including a sword stab through the paper walls and heart of a guy blowing a warning horn for reinforcements, they start carrying a wounded comrade off, only to have your partner shoot an arrow at the guy because the guy betrayed her family. Now you and your partner face off as leaves blow all around you. Swords are drawn, positions are taken, the wind billows all around you and FIGHT!
As fires rage around you from fire arrows flying through the nearby air, you spare your partner and prepare to swing at closing mongols.
And title screen.

Was Spidey insinuating that Watanabe was behind it all at the end?

Dead god, Sony swung and missed hardcore this year. Only like 9 games shown in an hour and 15 minute conference. That 20 minute bloody intermission with talking heads so they could change rooms.
Nioh 2
Control
Death Stranding
Ghosts of Tsushima
The Last of Us 2
Spider-man
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Trovor Saves the Universe
Kingdom Hearts 3
Those were the only games I remember them showing. Between the extreme lack of games and that goddamned intermission, Sony gets MAYBE a C at most.
Spidey gameplay looks AMAZING
Top 5 games of E3
TLOU2
Spiderman
Tomb Raider
Cyberpunk
Ghosts

For me, my list goes
#1 The Last of Us 2
#2 The Division 2
#3 Just Cause 4
#4 Skull & Bones
#5 Fallout 76
Honorable mentions go to Dying Light 2, We Happy Few and Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Too tired to rank, but I'm very much looking forward to Fallout 76, TLOU2, Division 2, new Halo if it is open world, Skull & Bones, and Cyberpunk.

So far, I only want 2 games. AC Odyssey and Anthem. Kingdom Hearts 3 is a possibility. Skull and Bones was high on my list until I learned that other players will be in my game attacking me. Hard pass.
I’m waiting to see if Nintendo drops a new Fire Emblem this year and if Animal Crossing is announced. Those will be my top 2 games if both are shown in the Nintendo Direct.
