For Honor really took a tumble. I did read it landed at #15 on PSN but that's a large fall in only their second month.

    - "Finally, you may have noticed that 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II outsold Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. That’s because you can now play the Xbox 360 version on the Xbox One, and that juiced the game’s sales."

Best selling games of 2017 through April:

    - “Nintendo owned the top 2 platforms in unit sales for the month, with the Nintendo Switch at No. 1, followed by NES Classic,” said Piscatella.

Wow. For Honor has more sales in 2017 than Horizon Zero Dawn and 2 overall. That is a bit odd considering VGChartz has them around 1.6M vs HZD at 2.6M. MEA is closer to 1.3 or so.

Just a reminder about VGChartz (from the wiki page on VGChartz)

Sales figures on VGChartz are based on estimates extrapolated from small retail samples. While offering some information about their methodology through their website, VGChartz does not publish any sources on how they get their data. Some sites, including Gamasutra and Wired News, have questioned the reliability of the information presented by the site. VGChartz has defended the credibility and reliability of its sales data, often comparing their numbers with the ones published by NPD Group although some charts have been retroactively adjusted to better match NPD's monthly reports.

Yeah, I figured VGChartz could be off but that is a big discrepancy.

A lot of people on For Honor have the season pass too. About 1/3 of the characters are the two new ones in Dominion right now and you have to have season pass the first week to use them.

It's NBA 2K17's world, you are just living it. Remember when Madden used to outsell the basketball games combined. Now Madden is not even the top selling sports game in the US. EA Sports is slowly digging its own grave. Madden 18 shows almost nothing to get excited for, that you can't get from watching Friday Night Lights reruns. No golf or tennis games. No college games. No Baseball. They have Hockey but it never charts well. NBA Live 18... I have said all I will on that. They are but a shell of their former self. Basically FIFA and to an extent Madden keep the wheels churning and the lights on.

It's amazing that in an NFL crazed country that NBA is out selling Madden. That does speak volumes. Nice to see For Honor doing so well. Still playing it!

NPD Sales Results For June 2017

    Overall Results:

June game sales are up 7% year over year.

Hardware was up 27% year over year.

Console and Handheld game sales were up 1% year over year.

    Software:

    June 2017:

    Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy
Arms* - 256,000 physically plus digitally
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* - 145,000 physically plus digitally (keep in mind the chart is by revenue, and that the rankings exclude digital so presumably Mario Kart at 180K was on sale somewhere or had major digital sales)
Mario Kart 8* - 180,000 physically plus digitally
    Overwatch**
    NBA 2K17
    Horizon Zero Dawn
    Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
Call of Duty: Black Ops III
    MLB 17: The Show
    Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege
    Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild*
    For Honor
    Grand Theft Auto V
    Horizon Zero Dawn
    Injustice 2

    Grand Theft Auto V
    FIFA 17
    Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
    Final Fantasy XV
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild*
    Overwatch

    Notes:
    - “Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy had a strong debut, reaching number 4 on the month’s top-seller chart despite having only two days in market,” said Piscatella. “Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy is the first Crash Bandicoot franchise game to debut in the top 5 since Crash Bandicoot: Warped, which launched on the Sony PlayStation in November 1998.”
    - The other exclusive was Arms for the Switch. What’s especially impressive here is that it sold that well without including any digital sales. Nintendo separately confirmed that its wacky fighter surpassed 256,000 copies sold physically and digitally in June. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold 180,000 and 145,000 during that same period, respectively.
    - "It’s worth noting that Prey, which debuted in May, has completely fallen off the sales charts. That’s not just the overall sales chart, it didn’t even crack the top 10 on Xbox One- or PS4-only lists, which you can see below."

    Hardware:

    PS4: #1

    Notes:
    - The PlayStation 4 was June’s best-selling hardware platform, driven by the Slim PlayStation 4 system in Gold with 1TB HDD,” said Piscatella. “It was the best performing June for PlayStation 4 unit sales to date.”
    - “Year to date, hardware spending has grown 19 percent versus 2016 to $1.4 billion,” said Piscatella. “The Nintendo Switch has been the catalyst for year-to-date growth. But portable hardware spending continues to decline. Year-to-date, spending on portable hardware has fallen 40 percent.”

    Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
    MLB 17: The Show
    ARMS*
    Battlefield 1
    Mass Effect: Andromeda
    Tekken 7

Best selling games of 2017 through July:
    Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild*
    For Honor
    Grand Theft Auto V
    Horizon Zero Dawn
    Injustice 2
    Mass Effect: Andromeda
    Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
    NBA 2K17
    Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Best selling games during the last 12 months:
    Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
    Battlefield 1
    NBA 2K17
    Madden NFL 17
    Grand Theft Auto V
    Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
    FIFA 17
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild*
    Final Fantasy XV
    For Honor

    Notes:
    - "The launch of Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch, and month 2 sales of Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy drove software gains"
    - “Nintendo’s Splatoon 2 was the best-selling title of the month,” said Piscatella. “Three of the month’s top seven best-selling games are published by Nintendo. Nintendo was also the best-selling software publisher in July.”
    - In June, Tekken 7 and Injustice 2 fought their way to the top of charts. Since then, Tekken 7 has cratered from its No. 1 position to No. 20. Injustice 2 is still in the top 10
    - Though Horizon Zero Dawn has slipped off the overall charts, Piscatella says that it contributed to a resurgence of role-playing games. Along with titles like Nier: Automata, Persona 5, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, the RPG year-to-date sales have grown over 50 percent year-over-year.

    Hardware:

    Nintendo Switch: #1

    Notes:
    - “The Nintendo Switch was July’s best-selling hardware platform,” NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said. “[That was] driven by new inventory released in support of the launch of Splatoon 2.”
    - "New supply of Nintendo Switch and continued strength of PlayStation 4 pushed hardware higher."
    - “Year to date, hardware spending has grown 20 percent versus 2016 to $1.6 billion,” Mat Piscatella said. “Performance of the Nintendo Switch continues to be the primary cause of the year-on-year gains.”
    - Of course, none of this means folks have forgot about the PS4. That system doesn’t have supply problems, and Sony has built up an impressive lineup of games for it this year. That has led to it outselling all other hardware platforms year-to-date, according to Piscatella.

At this rate I am more interested to see if the new NBA Live game can outsell NBA 2K17.
Nintendo wining Hardware and Software. To CLW's chagrin, saying it would be a failure.
Will we ever see another GTA again? Why invest in a new game when the old one just keeps printing out money.

We'll see GTA VI eventually, but I agree, with as much money as they continue to make with GTA Online, they aren't going to be in any rush to bring VI to market.

And honestly, I'm alright with that. I still enjoy the hell out of the single player story in GTA V. Every single year, since it first released back on the 360/PS3, every year in September, I start a brand new campaign all over again in GTA V just because I enjoy the story and have fun playing it. I actually was sort of itching tonight for GTA V, but I'm gonna wait until my usual mid-September play through, give me time to finish Horizon Zero Dawn first, and also make my initial steps into Andromeda.

GTA V is now the best selling game of all time.

    http://www.usgamer.net/articles/npd-...me-of-all-time

Grand Theft Auto V is now the best selling game of all-time in terms of revenue and tracked unit sales. That's according to the NPD Group's August analysis for video game sales in 2017. Not only is that incredibly impressive, but it proves just how strong GTAV is almost four years after the game initially came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

According to the NPD Group's monthly sales reports, Grand Theft Auto V was the second best selling game in the month of August, behind Madden NFL 18. But it's important to know that Madden 18 came out that month, while GTA V's been on the market since 2013 in one form or another.*GTA Online*in particular has proven to be a huge boon for the comapny. It should be noted that digital sales for games like PUBG aren't accounted for in the NPD Group's listings.

Grand Theft Auto V beat other new titles that month too including Uncharted: The Lost Legacy which also came out that month to third place.

"Grand Theft Auto V has now been on the market 49 months and has achieved 41 Top 10 chart appearances, 16 more times than any other single title in reported history," wrote NPD's Mat Piscatella. "In addition, Grand Theft Auto V is the all-time best-selling game by both revenue and units in tracked sales across PC, console, and portable with digital and packaged combined."

Live is good but so bare bones. A sports game with no roster editing in 2017 is inexcusable. Plus going against a beast in 2K18.

I was looking for numbers a week or so ago and saw that NBA 2K sales (no numbers) exceeded their expectations which has to mean monster numbers.

    Software

Dollar sales of Console, Portable and PC Games Software combined to reach $474 million in October 2017, down 20 percent versus a year ago, due to a difficult October 2016 comparable which featured the launch of Battlefield 1. Year to date, consumer spending is up 3 percent to $4.2 billion.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War was October's best-selling game overall, while also taking the top spot on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. Sales grew over 20 percent when compared to the launch month of the previous release in the franchise, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which debuted in September 2014.

Super Mario Odyssey debuted at #3 on the all platforms chart, while taking the top spot for Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Odyssey drove the third highest launch month packaged software sales for a Mario Action/Adventure title in tracked history, following only New Super Mario Bros Wii and Super Mario Galaxy.

October sales of Racing games more than doubled when compared to a year ago. So far in 2017, Racing game sales are up 37 percent. Role Playing Games also continued to show 2017 strength, with October sales growing more than 20 percent. Year to date, sales of RPGs are up 43 percent.

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling hardware platform of the month, while Sony's PlayStation 4 remains the best-selling hardware platform year to date.

Year to date, hardware spending has grown 19 percent versus 2016 to $2.3 billion. Consumer spending on Nintendo Switch, Plug N Play devices such as the SNES Classic and the PlayStation 4 continue to provide growth.

    Accessories

Total spend on Accessories and Gamecards fell 7 percent in October compared to a year ago, to $113 million.

Spending on Steering Wheels more than doubled when compared to a year ago driven by new releases Forza Motorsport 7 and Gran Turismo Sport.

NBA 2K18 which ships a month after Madden 18, is the top selling sports game this year.

NBA 2K18 and NBA 2K17 both outsold Madden 18 over the past 12 months.

This once again proves my point that NBA Live 18 was a waste of money and they should try and make a freaking college basketball game. NCAA Basketball 2019!
