Well, that didn't take long! LSU tells Les Miles to shove off! Ed Orgeron is the interim HC.

Les and Cam Cameron needed to go. They have the most predictable offense on college football.

I really thought Les staying last year would mean Cam would have to go. Instead, it just delayed the inevitable.

So what dominoes does this event start? Have to think LSU DC Dave Aranda (just came over from Wisconsin) might be coveted at a place like Notre Dame.

Early media speculation on LSU job centers on obvious names: Tom Herman, Art Briles, Bobby Petrino, Jimbo Fisher.

Thanks for editing that in cdj. It's almost impossible to add a table via Tapatalk unless you have the entire code for tables memorized. The best I can do is pictures, videos, bold, underline and smilies.

Look for clay Helton to get fired if he loses next game against Arizona state.

Darrell Hazell out at Purdue after 9-33 record in just over three seasons. WR coach Gerard Parker is the interim HC.

Texas looks likely to open, LSU will probably also pursue Herman.

Despite an upset win today, I think Oregon fires Helfrich. Does Kingsbury survive at Texas Tech?

Will WMU's PJ Fleck be on the radar for a big job or will he move into a place like Houston?

I expect Texas to throw everything at Herman and try to have him bring Major Applewhite with him. Which would be so awesome.

Reports/rumors that Jimbo Fisher has turned down LSU and that Tom Herman may be hired by the Tigers by Saturday.

ESPN reporting that Charlie Strong might get another year at UT if they miss out on Herman:

Texas president Gregory Fenves' preference has been to keep Strong, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach, and the odds of Strong returning for a fourth season are expected to increase dramatically if Herman is no longer available. The Longhorns need to beat TCU on Friday to finish 6-6 and become bowl eligible.

Texas fans are now actively rooting for TCU to lay the wood to their beloved Longhorns. Even those who defended Charlie up to the Kansas debacle have given up on him. The city of Austin would implode if Herman took any job other than Texas. That is how low the program has gone.

Even in the darkest times as a Sooner fan (most of the 90's especially that year with Howard Schnellenberger) wanting OU to lose has never crossed my mind. For all my bitching about the Stoops brothers (mostly Mike) the lowest we have fallen is 8-5 on a couple occasions this century.

Ed Orgeron is no longer the "backup plan" and instead is the new head football coach of the LSU Tigers, a source confirmed to ESPN's Brett McMurphy on Saturday.

The school has scheduled a news conference for 1 p.m. ET. Orgeron's hiring was first reported by Football Scoop and The Advocate.

LSU had zeroed in on Houston coach Tom Herman, who remains a candidate to take over as coach of the Texas Longhorns amid speculation that Charlie Strong will be fired.

The source told McMurphy that LSU decided to go with Orgeron because it "wasn't going to be held hostage [while Herman negotiated with others]. ... In the end, they chose the guy who wanted the job and not the guy who wanted the money."

Good for LSU. Don't let coaches hold you hostage and use you as a negotiating tool. Go with who you like first.
