So here's the story.

I'm in a offline heisman dynasty using Old Dominion. Somehow despite playing the default Old Dominion schedule, in which I went a perfect 12-0. Old Dominion got into the BCS championship game ranked #1 vs an undefeated Texas team ranked #2.

Old Dominion schedule & stats

East Carolina (6-6) ODU 58 - ECU 44
Maryland (5-7) ODU 63 - Maryland 52
FCS West (no record) ODU 42 - FCS W 41
Utah State (3-9) ODU 56 - USU 16
FCS SE (no record) ODU 56 - FCS SE 16
FCS East (no record) ODU 56 - FCS E 3
Pitt (2-10) ODU 55 - Pitt 52 (Overtime)
New Mexico St (3-9) ODU 70 - NMSU 21
Idaho (1-11) ODU 70 - Idaho 31
Army (8-4) ODU 56 - Army 24
North Carolina (7-5) ODU 56 - UNC 42

ODU was not even ranked until beating Pitt, at which time ODU went from #32 to #19. After that it went #12, #9, #7, #4. In the last three weeks ( aka 14, 15, conference) all bye weeks for ODU, ODU went from #4 to #1.

I played ODU's standard Air Raid offense mixed with Spread offense running, in which I usually spent most of second half of games running the ball to eat clock. I played 10 min quarters.

I can't even believe ODU got to #1 on such a weak schedule, and so I'm thinking that NCAA 14 had a massive brain fart when it came to ranking ODU.
