So... I'm not seeing much negative at all about this game other than no online play and a few little things about no customize-able rosters (i.e. their traits/abilities) but for $20 I think I'll just bite the bullet on this one and give it a whirl.

Polygon. oh brother. The king of click bait. There is a thread dedicated to the "Worst Games Journalism articles of 2014" which is 90% polygon trash.

Not saying the game is bad or anything but at least give a review before tossing it out as GOTY. Also it does not have online play which would seem like a big no-no in this day and age. They knock games for having poor online play. Then they credit this game for not having online play due to a fear of lag ruining it? WTF?

Edit: Saw the link to his impressions from that link and once again going all Click Bait bringing in that this game has girls in it. Wow, what a revolutionary idea. Conveniently leaving out the LLWS games from last gen had female players.

In all honesty if I have to choose between a non-licensed arcarde Indy baseball game for $20 or MLB 14 the Show for $20 which has all the bells and whistles it's not even close. I'll take MLB 14. Super Mega Baseball may be fun but I need real players and teams.

Bought the game and played several games last night. The game is allot of fun and pretty deep gameplay wise. Is it The Show? No. However, its a very solid title and the difficulty levels (confidence) really change how the game plays.

On the other end of the spectrum, Polygon does long form articles that are extremely well written. Hard to rationalize that both come from the same source.

Just absolutely in love with this game.

They did miss something when you edit a male pitcher and make a female. She does have one amazing breaking ball, though not legal by either baseball or public decency standards. If you outlaw the spitter...

My beloved team. If you get the references for my #2 and #3 starters you know your 80's porn.

Just got word from the dev that this will be coming to Steam and XB1!

    Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings
Coming to Xbox One & Steam

Victoria, British Columbia – May 27, 2015 – It’s time for Xbox One and Steam gamers to warm up in the on-deck circle as independent developer Metalhead Software announces it is bringing the award-winning baseball game Super Mega Baseball to the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program, and to PC via Steam, in the summer of 2015. The newest version of the game, Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings, will feature a bevy of new content, including brand new stadiums, enhanced gameplay and improved baseball simulation.

“Right now there are few options for quality, accessible sports titles on the market, particularly when it comes to baseball games on the Xbox One and PC,” said Metalhead Co-founder Scott Drader. “We’re really looking to put this genre back on the map for more casual fans, especially the younger generation of gamers who haven’t had access to the types of games that were common during their parents’ generation. Games that could introduce a sport to the uninitiated and turn them into fans for life.”

Super Mega Baseball’s initial iteration was met with critical acclaim, garnering an 85 Metacritic score and “Sports Game of the Year” honors. The game has a unique Ego system, which offers a fine-grained control of difficulty on a per-user basis, that has been widely praised for its ability to level the playing field in cooperative and competitive modes. This system will push seasoned gamers to their limits while simultaneously providing a gentle introduction for beginners.

    Additional features include:
    · Realistic simulation and physics: Don’t be fooled by the light-hearted/comical presentation; the fundamentals of the sport of baseball are well represented
    · Up-to four player local co-op play: In addition to solo play, there’s head-to-head, 2v1, 2v2 and co-op against the CPU
    · Ultra responsive and blazing fast gameplay: Controls are easy to learn, but players will need to master jumping, diving, wall-catches, power-swings and cut-off plays to properly dominate friends
    · Full batting and pitching statistics: Comprehensive baseball statistics that ballplayers can use to show off their MVP-quality skills

MLb the show >> over all baseball games. And its not even close. If on the bland vita game its still the best game for baseball. 2k was probably close back on the 360/ps3.

Lol, this isn't even trying to be MLB The Show. It's a "fuck around and have fun" arcade game. Hell, I'm playing the hell out of MLB The Show and I'm probably gonna pick this up just to dick around in when I feel like just dicking around in an arcade game instead of trying to play a serious Sim game on The Show.
