CFC Goal: E. Hazard (PEN) 63'
    CFC Booking: Fabregas (Y) 55'

Despite being heavily out-shot at White Hart Lane on Sunday, Chelsea earned a vital 3 points with a 1-0 win over third-placed Spurs. The match's lone goal came in the 63rd minute when Eden Hazard converted from the penalty spot after Nemanja Matic had been taken down from behind just inside the edge of the area. Thibaut Courtois kept his 8th clean sheet in the Premier League this season, keeping level with Everton's Tim Howard for the league lead.

With the rumors that wide midfielder Andre Schurrle was unsettled at Stamford Bridge having been recently laid to rest, it appeared that the German's future with the club was no longer in question. However, new rumors circulated on Sunday that Chelsea are in talks with Borussia Dortmund on a transfer that would send Schurrle and cash to the Bundesliga's third-ranked squad in exchange for 26-year-old sensation Marco Reus. It appears as though Schurrle's future with the West London side will continue to be a topic of speculation through the January window.

Chelsea (11-5-4) will host Watford (5-7-8) on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge. The two sides played a scoreless draw at Vicerage Road on November 7th.

    Around the Grounds

Hugely outshot Steeler... looks like you really stole one. Nice work! I have been looking at your stats and it seems like cpu cards are almost non-existent. That was the case two years ago too. I guess the FIFA team hasn't figured out how to address that issue yet.?

By the way, when you get a chance could you give an update on Celtic? Also, any chance of Wolves getting back to the big league?

PS Need to try and catch one of your streams sometime soon. Maybe a party chat over the Christmas break?

Yeah, it was definitely tougher to go to White Hart Lane than it was when Spurs came to West London. I was lucky to get maximum points from that one.

As for CPU bookings, if you really go back and look at my stats, the CPU gets booked more than I do. It is much better on 15 but there is always room for improvement.

I will give an update on how Celtic is doing domestically next time I post. I know they finished 3rd in their group in the Champions League so they are out of it and into the round of 32 in the Europa League. I was going to post highlights of the Watford match tonight but the video keeps getting hung up at 93% when I try to save it to the Capture Gallery from SHAREfactory. I may have to re-make the video.

I'm not streaming anymore since I'm doing the highlight videos but I'm sure we can figure something out to catch up over Christmas.

Andre Schurrle made his final appearance for Chelsea on Wednesday night, coming on in the 81st minute in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in the 1st Leg of the Capital One Cup Semi Finals with Manchester United. On Thursday, Chelsea announced that a transfer had been completed that sent Schurrle and 19 million pounds to Borussia Dortmund for midfielder Marco Reus. Schurrle had been unsettled in London but recently stated that he was ready to fulfill his obligation to the Blues. The club seized the opportunity to capture a world class player in Reus and sent Schurrle back to his native Germany.

Reus, 27, is Schurrle's squad-mate on the German national team and brings a strong skill set to West London (86 OVR). His pace, dribbling, distance shooting and free kick abilities are amongst his strongest qualities and he is expected to supplant Oscar opposite Eden Hazard at the right midfield spot in Jose Mourinho's lineup. The 5'11" 161-pounder signed a 3 year contract with Chelsea that will pay him 195,000 pounds per week and make him the highest paid player in club history (Eden Hazard, 180,000).

Chelsea (12-5-4) will host Norwich City (3-9-9) on Saturday as they return to Premier League action.

Diego Costa exploded for his second hat-trick in as many appearances and Thibaut Courtois made 12 saves to keep a clean sheet as Chelsea flexed their muscles at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, with a convincing 5-0 win over Manchester United in the 2nd Leg of the Capital One Cup Semi Finals. Chelsea have advanced to the February 28 Final on a 6-1 aggregate. The Blues will face Tottenham who were 6-0 aggregate winners over Ipswich Town in the other semi final tie.

The news wasn't all good for Chelsea however as they will be without wide man Eden Hazard for about 3 weeks after the Belgian superstar sprained a knee in the first half at the Theater of Dreams.

Chelsea will close a busy month of January on Saturday when they host Queens Park Rangers in the 4th Round of the FA Cup. Chelsea needed a 4-0 win in a 3rd Round Replay to eliminate 2013 winners Wigan Athletic, while QPR won 2-1 in East London over West Ham United in their Replay. The Blues have kept 4 consecutive clean sheets and have only conceded a single penalty conversion in their last 5 matches.

Chelsea left it until the dying embers of stoppage time but were 1-0 winners over Queens Park Rangers on a penalty conversion from the newest Blue, Marco Reus, who opened his Chelsea account in the 95th minute of play. Chelsea have drawn to visit Bolton Wanderers in the 5th Round on February 20, after eliminating QPR in the 4th Round of the FA Cup.

The Transfer Window closed on Sunday, with relative quiet fanfare. When the dust settled Chelsea's move to capture Reus from Borussia Dortmund for Andre Schurrle and cash was the biggest move of them all, over the Winter.

Chelsea (14-5-4) will visit West Bromwich Albion (7-11-5) on Sunday at The Hawthorns in Premier League action.

Chelsea won for the 7th consecutive time in league play on Wednesday night at a snowy Stamford Bridge, with Loic Remy scoring a brace and adding an assist in the 4-1 drubbing of Aston Villa. The win also gives Chelsea 7 straight across all competitions and 12 straight without a loss (10-2-0).

The Blues did lose Victor Moses, who was removed in favor of Marco Reus in the 39th minute, to a bruised elbow. However, boss Jose Mourinho classified the injury as "just a niggle" and said that he expects Moses to be "100% in 7 to 10 days".

The 3 points gives Chelsea their biggest lead of the season, atop the Premier League table. Chelsea (53 points) leads second-placed Manchester City (49) by four points and, with their last loss coming December 19 to the Citizens in West London, sets up a crucial match this coming Saturday at Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
