The Blues run of results without a win moved to 4 on Wednesday night in Lisbon as Sporting CP earned a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in Champions League play. After Loic Remy drew a penalty, Eden Hazard converted to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead just 23 minutes in. Cesc Fabregas was whistled for a penalty of his own in the 51st and Sporting converted to level things at 1.

Gary Cahill suffered a sprained ankle in the first half and had to be replaced by Kurt Zouma. Cahill is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

Chelsea (2-3-1) will face Arsenal in a London Derby on Saturday. Arsenal (2-1-3) are currently 12th in the league table. Ahead of the match, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho took his usual stabs at Arsene Wenger's side. "I'm surprised at how ill-disciplined they have been recently, they aren't playing with any structure at all", jabbed Mourinho. "This should definitely play into our hands, I'm looking forward to the game." Mourinho may have been looking to take the scrutiny and pressure off of his side who have not enjoyed a win in all competitions since September 16 and have not earned full points in England's top flight since August 27.

The injuries are piling up at Stamford Bridge. With Branislav Ivanovich and Gary Cahill already out with ankle injuries, the Blues lost Andre Schurrle for 2 months with a dislocated shoulder and Cesc Fabregas for 3 weeks with an akle sprain in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal. Schurrle did manage Chelsea's lone goal, a headed finish of a Eden Hazard corner, in the 38th minute prior to leaving with the knock. Danny Welbeck tapped in a spilled rebound in the 58th minute to hand Chelsea their 5th consecutive result without a win.

Chelsea (2-4-1) will visit fellow Londoners Crystal Palace (0-0-6) on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming international break. Palace are pointless and sit firmly at the bottom of the table. Calling this match a "must win" for Chelsea may be a severe understatement.

Eden Hazard scored a brace from the penalty spot and Thibaut Courtois kept a clean sheet as Chelsea ended a 5 match winless drought with a 2-0 result over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Tuesday evening. It was a noticeably aggressive West London side that sloshed through the evening rains as Chelsea were booked twice in the first half.

Chelsea will have another injury to deal with going into the international break. Cesar Azpilicueta suffered a bruised elbow against the Eagles but he should not miss any time for the club with the off days ahead.

Following the break, Chelsea will host German side FC Schalke 04 on match day 3 in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday the 22nd.

More heartbreak for Jose Mourinho's side at Stamford Bridge where they were hard done by a controversial penalty call against Captain John Terry.

Despite leading 1-0 after Diego Costa towered high to head in a Willian cross in the 12th minute, Chelsea were reeling from Max Meyer's 51st minute 14 yard equalizer when Terry collided with Klas-Jan Huntelaar going up for an early cross just inside the 18 yard line. The controversy was that Huntelaar appeared to fold under the slightest touch from Terry and the ball appeared to be well over his head. Nevertheless, Schalke were awarded the spot kick and Huntelaar converted in the 55th minute.

Chelsea rarely threatened again, falling 2-1.

The bright news from The Bridge is that midfielder Cesc Fabregas is fit and should be back in Mourinho's team sheet on Saturday when the Blues (3-4-1) take an important visit to Old Trafford to face table toppers Manchester United (6-2-0). With Fabregas set to return, Mourinho is only without Andre Schurrle who is still expected to miss a month as he recovers from a separated shoulder.

Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini each scored for the league leaders as Manchester United made relatively easy work of a floundering Chelsea side on Saturday at Old Trafford. The 3-1 defeat was only highlighted by Eden Hazard's penalty conversion in the 63rd minute.

Chelsea (3-4-2) will open the month of November at Loftus Road where they will visit Queens Park Rangers (4-3-2) on Saturday the 1st.

I finally un-lazied myself enough to make a league table. The above table is the EPL through the end of October 2014.

    CFC Fixtures for November 2014

    11/1 QPR EPL
    11/4 Sporting CP UCL
    11/8 Liverpool (away) EPL
    11/11 West Brom EPL
    11/26 Besiktas JK (away) UCL
    11/29 Sunderland (away) EPL

The Barclays Premier League Player of the Month for October 2014 was Siem de Jong of Newcastle United. In 8 league appearances this season, de Jong has 5 goals, 2 assists and 5 clean sheets for the Magpies who are one of the biggest surprise clubs of the year.

Good read buddy! I have been swamped with work/family for the past two weeks so I haven't been on TGT or seen any of your broadcasts. Are you playing this exclusively now over NHL? The "word" from the net is that NHL cannot compete with this year's FIFA, especially with all of the features removed.

    Thanks, jaymo.

I am broadcasting EVERY Chelsea match on Twitch, just like I did with the Astros in MLB The Show 14. If you ever get bored enough I'm sure you could check out the archived matches. If nothing else, just to see the beauty of FIFA 15.

I have not touched NHL since FIFA released last Tuesday. I will get back to it because I do want to get a season in with Pittsburgh. The "word" you heard is correct. Not because NHL is bad, it's actually pretty good. FIFA is just great though. Even if ALL of the expected features were in NHL, it wouldn't pull me away from FIFA.

With 13 matches under my belt (I only have 12 games worth of data because I forgot to grab a screen of one of them), I have enough numbers to make a good analysis of sliders. Keep in mind that I am not looking to make the game so easy that I waltz to the Premier League title with Chelsea (even though there are those that argue Chelsea will do so this year). I want a game that is still very challenging without being impossible. I don't mind having to improve my skills over the course of a few seasons to be able to challenge for the title, I just don't want Chelsea to be mid-table rubbish - that's as unrealistic as Chelsea scoring 5 goals a game and winning the league by 25 points. Somewhere in the middle is the balance. Let's look at the numbers.

GOALS PER MATCH: Chelsea 1.50 Opponents 1.58 Total 3.08
Pretty simple. I'm not scoring enough with a Chelsea side that is averaging 3.16 goals in 6 Premier League matches this season. Additionally, Chelsea is conceding 1.16 goals in the real world. These are symptoms of the real problem for me right now, as we will see.

SHOTS PER MATCH: Chelsea 10.83 Opponents 14.00 Total 24.83
With FIFA sliders there is something that I refer to as "The Rule of Three" (not THAT Rule of Three, pervert). A good baseline for statistics is that there should be 3 goals (less is better), 3x3 (9) shots on target and 9x3 (27) shots. So 3 goals, 9 SOT, 27 Shots. That's an easy to remember baseline. I'm close on all 3 with this one being the worst and it is bad because Chelsea is not doing what they should. Chelsea's shots should be considerably higher, their opponents should be lower. Again though, it's a symptom.

SHOTS ON TARGET PER MATCH: Chelsea 4.83 Opponents 5.17 Total 10.00
Very close but, again, the lion's share should be going to the Blues. Another symptom.

SHOTS ON TARGET PERCENTAGE: Chelsea .446 Opponents .307
These numbers are actually the best ones I have. A club like Chelsea is going to out-perform the average (generally 35-36%) on both sides of the coin. To be clear, this is the percentage of total shots that are actually on target.

PASS ACCURACY PERCENTAGE: Chelsea 77.83 Opponents 80.25
EPL average was 79.88 last year with a range of 71.1 to 86. Obviously, Chelsea is missing the mark on both ends of this equation. This is THE PROBLEM. Everything else is a SYMPTOM. If Chelsea passes better and defends the pass better, they have more of the ball and their shots and goals go up while their opponents numbers fall. This is where I am going to concentrate my slider changes. However, it's not as simple as moving the pass error slider. In the past, if you raised the CPU Pass Error slider too much it caused the CPU to not be able to deliver a cross. Even though the slider is ONLY supposed to affect ground passes. On FIFA 15, I tested this by putting the CPU Pass Error at 100. Sure enough, every cross was garbage. Therefore, I don't want to mess with that slider any more (if I can avoid it).

PERCENTAGE OF SHOTS ON TARGET THAT RESULT IN GOALS: Chelsea .310 opponents .307
Again, Chelsea should separate themselves from their opponents with their finishing. That's not happening here. I think that the way to address this is through the goalkeepers. Chelsea has 2 world class keepers (Courtois and Cech) and it should be reflected here.

With all of that data ingested, I'm making the following adjustments to my sliders:

    1. User Pass Speed +2
    2. User Goalkeeper Ability +3
    3. CPU Pass Speed -2
    4. CPU Goalkeeper Ability -3

Note that I won't change these things in the sliders that I posted in the first post of this thread until they have been thoroughly tested. I felt that, with the Pass Accuracy Slider being potentially problematic, I could chase the desired result with Pass Speed. We'll see how it plays out, I don't normally create an imbalance of this nature with my sliders. Also, the changes to the Keepers will affect the obvious. I'm going to use these beginning with the upcoming QPR match and I'll roll with them for 5-10 games before evaluating the numbers (unless something is OBVIOUSLY broken).

Jose Mourinho's side earned maximum points from their match with Queens Park Rangers, though the game was ugly and the physicality was costly to Chelsea. Despite QPR being down a man for more than half of the game, due to Mauricio Isla's sending off for a second yellow in the 45th minute, Chelsea had to escape with a 1-0 victory. To make matters worse, the Blues lone goal was actually an own goal by QPR. Adel Taarabt went up to challenge Didier Drogba just outside the six yard box when Loic Remy sent a cross from the left flank into the area in the 90th minute. Taarabt managed to get his head to the ball but put it into his own net.

Chelsea lost a pair of players to injury during the match. Diego Costa was replaced by Remy in the 65th minute as he struggled to continue after suffering a femur contusion in the 53rd. Willian sprained an ankle in the 81st minute and did not return to the pitch. He was replaced by Drogba in the 84th. After the match, Mourinho said that Costa will need about a week of rest and that Willian, whose ankle injury is more severe, will likely miss a month. With Andre Schurrle expected out for close to month as he is only doing some gym work since dislocating his right shoulder, it is expected that Cesc Fabregas will move into a central attacking role while Ramires takes Cesc's role alongside Nemanja Matic as a holding mid.

Chelsea will host Sporting CP at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night in what has become a critical Group G match in the Champions League. The sides drew, 1-1, in Lisbon on October 1.

The match was decided by inches but the results are huge. It was another disastrous outing for the Boys in Blue on Tuesday night on a rain-soaked pitch at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea conceded a goal in the 88th minute and, despite being a man up for the final twenty, lost 1-0 to Sporting Lisbon.

With Diego Costa, Andre Schurrle and Willian all out injured, Chelsea struggled to put shots on target. Their best effort may have been in the 53rd minute when Loic Remy hit the elbow of the woodwork from 10 yards. Remy twisted an ankle in the final minutes and is expected out for 3 weeks, leaving Jose Mourinho with only aging club legend Didier Drogba as a viable option up front until Costa returns. It is likely that Chelsea will rush Costa back for this weekend's league clash at Anfield.

Chelsea (4-4-2) will visit third placed Liverpool (6-1-3) at Anfield on Saturday.

In related news, a shock signing has seen Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho agree to manage the United States National Team.

There are only a few international jobs that I would take. USA is one of them. Should be fun to try to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. I had NO intentions of taking an international job and I may end up simming the international friendlys because they are meaningless and will slow me down.

The result at Anfield was satisfactory, a 1-1 draw against third placed Liverpool is not a black mark on Chelsea's season. However conceding an unbelievably soft, yet equally amazing, goal in stoppage time leaves the Blues with little satisfaction.

Diego Costa scored in the 45th minute, powering in a header from 9 yards to give Chelsea the lead that they eventually squandered. The injury bug struck again as Oscar bruised his left shoulder when he was upended in the area late in the first half. Oscar will likely miss Tuesday's match with West Brom but should be fit to join Brazil for the upcoming international break.

Chelsea (4-5-2) will host Wet Bromwich Albion (5-3-3) at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.

Notes: The English FA Cup has begun but Premier League teams are not involved yet. I will begin reporting scores when the Premier clubs are playing. Also, with the rash of injuries that I've suffered I decided to lower User Injury Frequency from 60 to 55. I will continue to monitor it.

Another draw for Chelsea. This time a goalless result at Stamford Bridge against West Brom. Watching Chelsea in attack is painful. The final ball is never there and when they do open the defense, they can't finish. The good news is that they aren't conceding much or losing of late.

The other good news is that the international break is here and Chelsea can use the time to get healthy. The Blues resume play on the 26th with a trip to Turkey and a must-win contest against Besiktas JK in the Champions League. Chelsea won the first leg of this tie 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on September 16.

OK, I've had to make some slider changes. I'll post them later. The changes are really minimal. There are two big changes to what I'm doing though.

First, I've changed the camera to Co-op with 10 Height and 20 Zoom (I believe). I'm having a much easier time seeing the field and seeing things develop before they actually happen. With as bad as my offense has been, this is a biggie.

Second, I've come to terms with the fact that I am too good for PRO (I can easily blow by defenders on the flanks) and that I'm not good enough to play with ALL MANUAL controls on WORLD CLASS. In the past, I have played that way. However, FIFA 15 is tougher than 14 or 13 or 12 or the World Cup Brazil game. Therefore, I've moved several of my Controller Assistance values to SEMI or ASSISTED. I'll post everything up when I get it all settled.

In the mean time, I may have some wonky stats. However, the good news is that the game is FUN for me again as I don't feel that I need extreme luck to score a goal.

All of that said, I have some updating to do as I have played 2 more matches since my last post.
