After a beautiful streak of hitting, Jaymo is officially off the wagon. The Midland Rockhounds came to town for a four game series and to say the least, it was a brutal series.

    Game 1: Midland 0 San Antonio 4
    Game 2: Midland 7 San Antonio 6
    Game 3: Midland 7 San Antonio 6
    Game 4: Midland 6 San Antonio 2

Jaymo went 4 for 15 in the series including 5 strike outs and two fielding errors. The only highlight was a sack fly RBI. Two of the games Jaymo was hitless.

Interestingly enough, Padres backup 3rd baseman Chase Headley is on the 15 day DL with a fractured forearm. He will be out at least 23 days. Strange that the Padres have chosen not to call up Ray Cortes from El Paso. Jaymo was hoping to get a few at bats at the AAA level before the end of the season. Oh well, three games left in the regular season versus Corpus Cristi.

Things go from bad to worse for Jaymo as his bat is as cold as his confidence. Going into Corpus Cristi for game one, Jaymo's performance may have been the weakest of his season?

    Four at-bats:
    1. pop fly
    2. ground out
    3. strike out
    4. pop fly

Regardless, the Missions hold on for a 3-2 win. Jaymo needs to get his game back before the playoffs start!

The Labour Day battle... The announcers have been telling the audience that the Missions are not happy with Jaymo's play as of late. Jaymo's confidence is clearly faltering as in the first inning with two on and nobody out Jaymo had a bad, bad four pitch strike out.

Things improve a little in the 3rd inning as Jaymo hits a sac fly for an RBI and the first run of the game. However another strike out in the 4th with the bases loaded for Jaymo ends yet another inning. Maybe things are looking up? Jaymo gets a single in the 6th and drives in an RBI to put the Missions up 4-0. The 8 starts with a fly out to 3rd. Maybe the slump isn't over?

The Missions end up winning the game 6-0 but Jaymo did struggle quite a bit. With one game left before the conclusion of the regular season, Jaymo needs to figure things out ASAP!

    Shocker alert! Shocker alert!

On September 4th, Jaymo was called in to talk to the San Antonio Missions coaching staff. Jaymo figured it would be about his mini slump. However, Jaymo was informed that he will be getting a raise and now be paid $75,000 per season, up from the current $30,000. Jaymo was then told to pack up his things as effective immediately he was being sent up to the AAA affiliate El Paso Chihuahuas and El Paso's current 3rd baseman and top prospect Ray Cortes was being sent down to the AA Missions.

Jaymo was also informed that he needed to be in El Paso before 7:05pm as game 1 of the playoffs for El Paso starts then. Jaymo will be hitting clean-up in his first AAA series. The Chihuahuas will be taking on the Sacramento River Cats in a five game series in PCL playoff action.

Game 1: Sacramento at El Paso (L Drew pomeranz vs. L Corey Luebke)

Jaymo's AA season stats were pretty good.
    .314 batting avg.
    45 runs
    126 hits
    12 hr
    66 rbi
    400 at bats

But will any of that matter in AAA playoff baseball? Jaymo is the youngest player on the El Paso roster and he has the least experience. Jaymo is very nervous but excited!

Inning 1 Jaymo gets his first chance and it's memorable. With one man on and two out Jaymo knocks it out of the park on the 2nd pitch to give El Paso a 2-0 lead. Wow!

Inning 3 Jaymo pops out on a six pitch at bat.

Inning 5 Jaymo hits his second homer on the game. Two men on make the score 6-2 El Paso. However the inning is massive for El Paso as when all is said and done the score is 12-3!

Inning 7 Jaymo strikes out on a pretty poor pitch

Inning 8 jaymo hits a double with two out. The inning ends with no further runs.

Final score El Paso 12 Sacramento 3

The player of the game, Jaymo (5 AB, 3 hits 2HR, 1double, 5 RBI)

What a phenomenal start to Jaymo's AAA career!!!

Yeah I feasted on the lefties. However my two at bats that I struggled with were right handed pitchers. I have owned lefties all season. If memory serves it's right handed starters for the rest of the series.

As to the game... shocking! I never saw it coming. There must be something about El Paso that works for me?

Game 2: Sacramento vs. El Paso (RHP Josh Lindblom vs. RHP Casey Kelly)

Jaymo is still on cloud nine from last night. Currently he is batting .600! He is also slotted in at the clean-up position again and with good reason. Can the magic continue in game two?

The game starts poorly for El Paso and it's 1-0 by the bottom of the first. Jaymo gets to the plate but his bat is interrupted by a pickoff at 1st to end the inning.

Inning 2... bat 1.5 Jaymo flys out to centre-field

Inning 4: another popp fly to lead off the inning. Where is the magic tonight?

Inning 6: deep smash to centre-field but Guererro has an amazing over the should catch. Jaymo is still hitless and the game is still tied 1-1.

Inning 8: Jaymo is back at the plate with 1 on and one out. He has struggled badly at bat tonight. Can he deliver in the clutch? Sacramento has a 2-1 lead. Jaymo delivers a big at bat as he has a drop single and the lead runner makes it to 3rd. However thr next batter Tommy Medica creates a double play with his at bat and with that the inning is over.

The River Cats closer comes in and shuts the door and El Paso's bottom half of the order go down in order. Sacramento wins the game 2-1 and with that the series is tied 1-1 heading to Sacramento tomorrow.

Jaymo ends the game 1 for 4. He only faced 11 pitches and needless to say was not happy about his performance. On the bright-side though he had an excellent fielding game.

Game 3: El Paso @ Sacramento (RHP Josh Johnson vs. RHP Marcus Walden)

*best of five series tied 1-1*

Inning 2: Jaymo leads off the inning by grounding out to the 3rd baseman. However his teammates step up and get a 2-0 lead before the inning is up.

Inning 3: with two outs Jaymo picks up on Walden's high pitch strategy. Jaymo makes great contact and has a line drive single. However, the following batter, Medicao strikes out and the top of the 3rd inning is over. It's still 2-0 El Paso.

Inning 5: with two on and two out Jaymo takes the plate. Walden throws a wild pitch to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd but Jaymo pops out to end the inning. He is really kicking himself as Sacramento explodes in the bottom of the inning to take a commanding 4-2 lead.

Inning 7: Jaymo takes the plate following a 3 run HR from DH Chris Denorfia. The Chihuahuas have a 5-4 lead. Following a pitching change, Jaymo hits a single, his second of the game. Jaymo gets to third on a double byWill Venable. The following batter, Steve Gomez drives home both Jaymo and Venable and El Paso goes up 7-4.

Inning 9: with 1 out and nobody on Jaymo takes the plate. El Paso is still on top 7-4. Jaymo hits an infield single as he
out runs the throw from third. That gives him three hits on the night. However, Jaymo is caught stealing on a 3-2 pitch with two out and the inning is over.

The River Cats make a real charge in the 9th but come up one run short and El Paso holds on to win 7-6. Each team had 12 hits. Jaymo played a fair game as he had three singles and scored one run.

With that El Paso takes a 2-1 series lead with game 4 going tomorrow night.

Game 4: El Paso @ Sacramento (RHP Don Roach vs. RHP Arnold Leon)

    * El Paso leads the series 2-1

The Chihuahuas can wrap up the series with a win. Jaymo in the clean-up spot is batting .500 for the series. He had three hits last game but felt his effort could have been better. Let's hope today he shines. This is the biggest moment thus far in his young career.

Inning 1: Jaymo goes up against a formidable 5 pitch pitcher in Arnold Leon. With one on and two out, Jaymo hits a line drive on the first pitch. With two on and two out Medica strikes out and the inning is over.

Inning 4: Jaymo leads off the inning by grounding out. In the bottom of the inning the River Cats take a 2-0 lead.

Inning 6: Jaymo strikes out with nobody on and two away. The inning is over and Leon is cruising. The score remains 2-0 Sacramento.

In the bottom of the 8th Jaymo makes a huge lay with the bases loaded to end the inning. The score remains 2-0 heading into the 9th

Inning 9: Jaymo strikes out and the game is over. Leon has 13 strike out over nine innings. He only gave up 4 hits. The guy was awesome... player of the game as well.

The series is now tied 2-2 with game five going tomorrow night.

Game 5: El Paso @ Sacamento (RHP Burch Smith vs. LHP Drew Pomeranz 0-1)

    * series tied 2-2

Sacramento is running a 4 pitcher rotation so Drew Pomeranz gets the start for his 2nd game of the series. He was destroyed in game 1. His ERA is 14.54!!! Will Jaymo have his number again?

Inning 1: Jaymo takes the plate with 3 on and nobody out. It's already 1-0 El Paso as Ramirez doubled to centre to score Rodriguez. Jaymo has a terrible at bat as he pops out to 2nd. The next two batters do the same and the inning is over.

Inning 3: Jaymo takes the plate with 1 on and nobody out. The socre is now 2-0 El Paso as Ramirez drives in Denorfia for a run. Jaymo hits a nice single on his second at bat. Venable hits into a double play and the top half of the inning is over.

Inning 5: Denorifia hits a two run home in the top of the 5th. Te score is now 4-0 El Paso. Jaymo takes the plate with 1 on and 1 out. right hander Pedro Peralta is now into the game. Jaymo strikes out with an embarrassing at bat... Sacramento comes stroming back in the bottom of the inning to make the score 4-3 El Paso

Inning 7: Jaymo hits a single with one man out. Men are on first and second with one out. Jaymo gets to third as Medica hits a nice double. Ramirez score and with one out it's now 5-3 El Paso. Abao comes out of the bull en and the lefty walks Venable to load the bases. Steve Gomez fouls out to the catcher for out number two. Jaymo remains at third. Romeo Ayala then strikes out with the bases loaded.

Inning 9: Jaymo takes the plate with 1 out and nobody on. Jaymo pops out to centre field and the inning ends quickly. Sacramento goes down 1...2...3...

El Paso wins!!! El Paso wins!!! El Paso wins!!!

El Paso takes the series 3-2 with a hard fought 5-3 win.

Jaymo had a statistically strong series but looks an be deceiving. That first game was a monster but for the rest of the series he was average at the plate.

Update: Tulsa travelled to San Antonio to open up the AA Texas League Championship. The Missions came up big with a 3-1 win. Dan Chavez started in place of Ray Cortes at 3rd. It seems like Cortes has had a drop in prestige??? Good luck to the Missions in trying to win back-to-back championships.
