looking at the top 25 we have a one change this week.

    2.
    3.
    4.
    5. from #6 (Florida plummets to #12)

Chalk this one up to the bizarre but moves to #23. This is strange because they have not yet played one game this season...???

We don't see TGT teams meet often so here is one of note. 41 17. Sorry about that one Soulja.

remains ranked #20. They play their first home game of the season versus

    Game 4: (1-2) (0-0) @ #20 (2-1) (1-0)

Week five marks UNLV's first home game of the season. Historically, CSU has not matched up well versus coach jaymo and his Rebels. Let's hope that streak continues today.

CSU has a strong run game but their D is pretty soft. CSU loses the toss and UNLV elects to kickoff. After a long drive CSU takes the lead on a 26 yard fg... 3-0 CSU.UNLV starts at the 18. After a disappointing drive UNLV punts and CSU begins at their own 20. Jalaal has another drop. What is going on with him this season??? Regardless no damage is done as CSU is forced to punt.

With 12 seconds left in the 1st, Morris hits WR Samuel for 33 yards and a td. That makes it 7-3 UNLV. The lead doesn't last long as UNLV gets burned on a 74 yard td. That makes it 10-7 CSU with 7:17 left in the 2nd. UNLV uses the next 8 plays to take the lead ending with Morris hitting RB Sean Robinson for a 13 yard td. That makes it 14-10 UNLV with 5:29 left in the 2nd.

CCSU's next drive ends with a 53 yard fg miss to the left and the score remains 14-10 UNLV with 3:01 left in the 2nd. UNLV's QB Morris is on fire. With 43 seconds left he hits RB Frank Coker with a 9 yard td strike and that makes it 21-10 UNLV. With 16 seconds left CB Daniel Simon comes up with a pic. The ball is at the 45 of CSU.

In a bizarre turns of events Morris is picked off and them the CB fumbles the interception. UNLV's WR Samuel picks it up and is down by contact. UNLV's Winston then hits a 44 yard fg... 24-10 UNLV at the half.

UNLV starts the 3rd at their own 19. But they are slow out of the gate and the drive goes three and out. CSU takes over at their own 19. The drive goes three and out and UNLV gets the ball back. Coker steams over 100 yards on the drive and Morris hits WR Lowery on a bubble screen from 2 yards out to put UNLV up 31-10 with 14 seconds left in the 3rd. That's Morris's 4th td ass today!!!

On 4th down CSU pretty much has to go for it. It doesn't matter though as CB Simon comes up with the int. at the UNLV 38. The drive ends with RB Gary Smith pounding the rock in from the 3. That makes it 38-10 UNLV with 4:51 left. Now it's time for mass subs.

CSU goes three and out. Backup QB Abe Lexman adds insult to injury as he goes 34 yards on a read option to make the score 45-10 with 1:21 remaining. This Lexman kid is going to be something special. He just needs more time to develop. That's okay though as Morris is only a junior and he is playing lights out right now.

After yet another three and out by CSU Lexman puts the game to bed with a big-time victory. The final score:

    45 10

Morris earns star of the game going 19/28 for 213 yards and 4 td's (and 1 int.) Coker has 120 yards rushing on 22 attempts. That's three straight games of over 100 yards. No rb has done that since coach jaymo arrived at UNLV.

With the victory goes into their bye week. They have put together a three game winning streak and have moved up in the polls, now sitting at #16.

It was a big week for recruits as three players committed:

LG (75 ovr) Tiny Johnson (3 star)
MLB (75 ovr) Paul Green (4 star)
CB (68 ovr) Keron Thurman (4 star)

has a bye and week five passes quickly. The end result is that the Rebels move from #16 to #13

Interestingly enough, UNLV also signs two prospects in the bye week.

    1. CB Matt Baker (78 ovr) 5star blue chip prospect!!!
    2. DT Adam Williams (70 ovr) 4 star

Top 5 this week: no change from last week ( )

Game 5: an out of conference matchup and game two in a home and home series...

    (1-2) (0-1) @ (3-1) (2-0)

Another beauty of a day in the desert. UNLV has a huge statistical advantage. USF loses the toss and as per usual UNLV kicks off. It's go time!!! USF struggles out of the gate and goes three and out. UNLV starts at the 49. 8 plays later Morris hits Samuel from the 3 and that makes it 7-0 UNLV with 5:29 left in the 1st.

    update: shocks #19 24-3

USF struggles again as DT Hefner comes up with a sack and fumble. UNLV starts at the 44 of USF. The drive ends with a 17 yard strike from Morris to Samuel. That's the 2nd connection this game and it makes the score 14-0 UNLV with 2:16 left in the 1st.

USF makes it six plays before punting and UNLV begins at their own 27. UNLV runs out the clock on the 1st quarter and continues to move the ball. Wow! Morris hits Samuel from 4 and that's 3td connections... 20-0 UNLV (Winston blew the extra point) with 6:18 left in the 2nd.

USF storms down the field and their qb runs it in from the 6 to make it 20-7 UNLV with 4:45 left in the 2nd. On UNLV's next drive Winston makes up for his earlier miss with a 48 yard fg... 23-7 UNLV with 2:23 left in the 2nd. USF starts at their own 20.

What is going on? USF storms down the field and runs it in... 23-14 UNLV with 1:23 left in the 2nd. Jalaal returns the kick 55 yards and UNLV starts at the 48 of USF. UNLV does it again... Morris hits Samuel from the 7 and a td. The score is now 30-14 UNLV with 31 seconds left.

USF goes three and out and the punt block is on. With 13 seconds left UNLV starts at the 46 of USF. On the last play a Hail Mary... answered.... td Jalaal from 41 yards out. That makes it 37-14 UNLV to end the half.

Morris breaks the UNLV td pass record with 5 td tosses in the first half. Samuel has been on fire as well. The only weak spot... Coker and the run game are brutal right now. 235 yards through the air is making the difference.

Jalaal starts the 3rd with a 44 yard return. However the drive stalls and USF takes over at their own 21. USF goes three and out... UNLV begins at their own 42. Coker finally gets it going with a 38 yard scamper for a td. Again Winston misses the extra point,,, 43-14 UNLV with 2:18 left in the 3rd. It's almost time to pull the starters.

On the next drive SS Titus Horne makes the int. UNLV begins again at their own 49. The drive ends with Coker going over 100 yards rushing and ending the drive with Morris hitting TE Green for a td. Six td's means Morris is the lone holder of the school record. 50-14 UNLV mass subs and chew clock is on with 5:33 remaining.

USF does nothing on the next drive and UNLV gets the ball on their own 23. The drive is stopped and USF takes over at their own 42. With 1:34 left on the clock, USF tries to make it respectable. Dan Little the rb punches it in from the 1 with 6 seconds left. That makes it 50-21. Lexman takes a kneel and that puts the game away.

    50 21

Morris, obviously was the game mvp going 22/27 267 yards and 6 td's. Coker had a great 2nd half and ended the game 21 carries for 100 yards and 1 td. Samuel had 8 receptions for 74 yards and 4 td's.

Week six features a real mismatch...

    (1-4) (0-2) @ #11 (4-1) (2-0)

USU can run the ball well but their pass D is weak. This could be another big day for Morris. However, the weather is brutal in the desert as there is a massive rainstorm...

USU wins the toss and chooses to kick off. Brutal! Jalaal fumbles on the kickoff and at the UNLV 18. Two plays later the score is 7-0 Aggies. What happened??? 18 rush yards and a td... that is not a good sign. Speaking of signs that aren't good... Morris needs to be helped off the field on the first offensive play for UNLV. What is going on today? This is followed up by a 3 and out. USU takes over at their own 1.

Bad news... Morris has a foot stress fracture and will be out for the next five weeks. Alright Lexman, here is your chance! Back to the game, USU is dominating on O. Luckily for UNLV, CB Harris comes up with an int on the UNLV 15. Lexman's first drive is a good one ending with a 12 yard td pass to who else, Samuel. That makes it 7-7 with 58 seconds left in the 1st.

USU's RUN game has been beastly good. UNLV needs to step up now. USU goes away from what is working... the run and as a result they go three and out. UNLV begins at their own 46. With that the 1st ends. That was a tough quarter. Clearly coach jaymo underestimated USU.

UNLV, using the run drives the field and Coker punches it in from the one. UNLV goes up 14-7

    Update... #3 @ #1 28-26 OU in the 3rd...

Another USU three and out. UNLV begins at their own 42. LEXMAN you stud!!! A 32 yard read option scramble for a td makes it 21-7 UNLV. With 3:08 left USU looks to begin their comeback. They start at their own 20. They go back to the run and drive the field. CB Will Dean makes a pick at the 2 but offside... int negated. Next play USU throws a td strike. That makes it 21-14 with 1:19 left.

Jalaal makes up for his earlier blunder taking the return 62 yards and well into USU territory. With seconds left, Lexman hits Samuel for the td (from six yards out). That makes the score 28-14 UNLV. The half comes to an end... that was a weird one. USU is a real jeckyl and hyde.

USU's first drive of the third is unproductive. UNLV begins at their own 33. This Lexman kid is a beast. Another 30+ yard read option and then wraps up the drive with a 13 yard td strike to Jalaal. 35-14 UNLV with 3:34 left in the third. USU begins from their own 20.

Shocker alert... #3 43 #1 34. Oh how the mighty have fallen...

USU's next drive is snuffed out as CB Harris comes up with a pic. That's his 2nd of the game. UNLV starts at the USU 36. The drive ends with a 30 yard fg by Winston. That makes the score 38-14 UNLV with 32 seconds left in the 3rd.

To start the 4th USU has a fumble on a massive UNLV hit by LB Hancock. CB Dean picks up the ball at the UNLV 47. This Lexman kid is for real! He runs it in on an option from the 6 to make it 45-14 UNLV with 5:24 remaining. With that score, coach jaymo puts in mass subs.

USU is forced to go three and out. UNLV takes over at their own 36. #rd stringer QB Jon Jude throws a bad int and USU has the ball in striking range. With 3:34 left USU puts a td on the scoreboard. That makes it 45-21 UNLV.

UNLV drives to the goalline and then runs out the clock. Final score:

    45 21

Player of the game honours go to Abe Lexman. The kid totally deserves it as he played great. Lexman went 18/23 212 yards and 3 td's. he also had 7 carries for 55 yards and 2 td's. This kid is the real deal and if he plays like this over the next couple weeks there will be a huge qb controversy in the desert. The only downside is that he was sacked three times.

CB Harris also had a huge game with two pics. that is big as we had a stud recruit visiting and he wanted to see some ints.

On the negative the run game struggled and Coker only had 55 yards rushing. That snaps his 4 game 100+ yards rushing streak.

Last game was a good one for recruiting as two players committed to the roster.

    1. Punter Matt Smith (73 ovr) 2 star
    2. CB Torque Leweth (75 ovr)

However, got snubbed in the polls, staying at #11

The new top 5 for this week:

    1. (previously #3)
    2.
    3. (previously #4)
    4. (previously #5)
    5. (previously #6)

falls to #6 (a little harsh if you ask me...)

A strange result... didn't play last week but jumps from #17 to #10. Why???

#7 has pummelled by 55-21 and they fall to #16

    Week 8:

    #11 (5-1) (3-0)) @ (4-2) (3-0)

Aloha! The Rebels to the show on the road to Oahu. With Morris out another four weeks the game rests on the shoulders of Abe Lexman. Hawaii has a stingy pass D so this could be a run heavy day. The Rebels win the toss and decide to kickoff. Irby puts it through the back of the endzone and Hawaii begins at the 20. After a long, long drive, Hawaii puts up a fg from 29 yards out and moves up 3-0 with 3:52 left in the 1st.

UNLV starts at their own 24. The O looks great and Lexman hits Jalaal from 22 yards out for the td. That makes it 7-3 UNLV with 1:16 left in the 1st. Hawaii starts at their 20 but goes three and out and UNLV starts the 2nd quarter with the ball and at their own 29. After a beautiful drive Lexman makes a mistake and throws a pic in the Hawaii endzone. Hawaii starts at their own 4. Three plays later, DT Hefner comes up with a safety... beautiful!!! That makes it 9-3 UNLV with 4:30 left in the 2nd.

UNLV starts at their own 38. A long drive ends with RB Sean Robinson taking it in from the 2 for a td. That makes it Rebels 16 Hawaii 3 with 26 seconds left in the 2nd. Hawaii takes over at their 20 but they decide to run out the clock and the half ends.

UNLV has played pretty well. WR Lowery has had a strong game with 5 catches already. The D is also pretty fierce today. UNLV needs to keep the pedal on the gas. The UNLV D has only given up 42 yards thus far.

UNLV starts with the ball in the 3rd. Jalaal brings it up to the 31. UNLV uses 12 plays to punch it in the endzone. Lexman runs the option and takes it in from the 5. That makes it 23-3 UNLV with 3:59 left in the 3rd. Hawaii takes over at their own 20. UNLV's D has only given up 42 yards today. Hawaii has another short drive. UNLV starts on their own 20.

UNLV goes three and out and Hawaii starts at their own 28. There is only 1:28 left in the third. This game is not very exciting. Hawaii as expected goes three and out... again. UNLV starts on their own 41 with 33 seconds left in the 3rd. UNLV goes tit for tat and responds with a three and out.

At the start of the 4th, Hawaii begins at their own 30. Another three and out and UNLV starts at their own 47 with 6:39 remaining in the 4th. On the 1st carry of the drive, Coker goes over 100 yards on 19 carries.

UNLV chews the clock and gets to the Hawaii 20 but turns it over on downs with 2:29 left. Coach jaymo calls for mass subs. Hawaii cannot do anything and goes three and out. UNLV starts at the Hawaii 35 with 1:43 remaining. The game ends with the score

    23 3

Lexman is player of the game but I'm not really sure why. He went 13/19 for 143 yards 1 td and 1 int. IMO RB Frank Coker should have got the game ball. He had 23 rushes for 120 yards. Hawaii was awful today. Their qb, Franklin Watson was 4/12 for 37 yards passing while their starting RB Chris Jackson had 8 carries for 17 yards.

This will go down as one of the dullest games ever coached by coach jaymo. This game really was a dog. Hawaii's offense could only muster 56 yards in total. UNLV rushed the ball 40 times and only threw 19 passes. The game was ugly but ultimately, a win is a win.

    Week 9: (3-4) (1-3) @. #9 (6-1) (4-0)

The rival Wolfpack come in to UNLV looking to take down the mighty Rebels. This week is a huge week for recruiting as three studs are on campus (5* Christian, 4* McGee and 4* McCringlebery). The two TE's are in the top ten best in the nation. This game is huge for recruting purposes.

The Battle for Nevada... it's scroching in the Nevada sun. UNLV wins the toss and elects to kickoff. Irby has a booming kick and it results in a touchback. The Pack go three and out and the Rebels start at their own 40. 8 plays later rookie QB Lexman hits TE Green for a six yard TD and it's 7-0 Rebels.

Next possession the Pack starts again at their own 20. They move the ball well via the run game but two big sacks push them out of FG range. UNV starts their own 20... then Lexman makes a big error, locking in on a well covered Green... and the play ends in an int. Nevada has the ball at the UNLV 27 with 1.26 left in the 1st quarter.

º 3rd and 9, the Pack put one up and FS Matt Douglas comes down with it. UNLV dodged a bullet there. The score remains 7-0 UNLV with 16 seconds left in the 1st. After a great series, the Rebels settle for a 44 yard FG and a 10-0 lead.

Note: Nevada has a harsh blow as their HB Burton has been lost for two weeks.

The Pack finally get on the board late in the 2nd. After a long drive they hit a 41 yard FG and that makes it 10-3 UNLV with 2:15 left in the 2nd. The Rebels go into the 2 minute offense and it's a thing of beauty. With 4 seconds left, Lexman hits Lowery for a 5 yard TD and that makes it 17-3 to end the half.

A tale of opposites today... UNLV all pass (197 yards to 1) versus Nevada all run (84 yards to -8). UNLV will try to get the run game going in the 2nd half.

The half starts out with UNLV punting. Nevada, starts at their own 20. Sensing the need to change things up, Nevada comes out passing... that's a mistak as CB(FS) Yusef Butler pics off the ball at the Nevada 28. A short drive ends with a 44 yard FG by and a 20-7 lead for UNLV with 3:28 left in the 3rd.

A three and out for Nevada and UNLV starts at their own 46. Field position today has been a huge advantage for the Runnin' Rebels. The Rebels move the ball easily and the quarter ends with UNLV in striking distance.

Update: WR Mal Jalaal left the game with back spasms and will not return.

The 4th starts off on a low point as Lexman throws his 2nd pic today. Nevada takes it out to the 40. The drive ends there as well as Nevada goes 4 and out. With 6:15 remaining Winston hits a FG from 46 and that makes it 23-3 UNLV. What happened to the UNLV offense in the 2nd half???

With 5:17 left Nevada turns it over on downs at the 42. UNLV moves the ball well and Coker runs it in from the 3. That makes it 30-3 with 3:09 remaining.

    Update: SDSU cruches SJSU 34-12.

Nevada punts on their next possession and mass subs finishes the game for UNLV. This was a big blowout win for UNLV and the game was NEVER in doubt. 30-3 as a final score actually flattered Nevada.

    Lexman 20/31 270 yards 2 TD 2 Int.
    Coker 13 rushes 42 yards 1 TD
    Samuel 5 rec 91 yards

Players of the game for UNLV
    LB Brock 8 tackles 2TFL 1 sack
    K Winston 3-3 FG 3-3 extra points
