    You just have to have a little determination that you will learn it. Feel free to ask any questions, there aren't any stupid ones.

    Once you learn to play the game and begin to understand the sport on a global scale, you will regret the years you wasted not loving it.

    Don't be afraid to start on a simple difficulty. Use those beginner setting (auto passing, crossing, etc) while you are learning. Make sure and spend some time with the Skill games so you can learn to play with these things turned off or on semi assist down the road for more of a challenge. Try turning off auto switching on defense and switch players for yourself. Never trust the computer to do something for you, a big reason why you want to play those skill games to learn how to turn CPU assistance off on offense.

    A terrific guide on formations - I tend to recommend a 4-4-2 to a beginner.

    For the rest, rules and tactics there are a ton of beginners guides to soccer on the web. Also find a soccer team(s) to root for. Start with the EPL (English Premier League) and find a team that interested you. DO NOT choose Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal. They are the popular kids and already have tons of support. I became a Man City fan when I first started to get into the PES/Winning Eleven Series back in the early PS2 days. My main reason was a former US star player Claudio Reyna was on the team.

    If you go that route you have a fairly young stud US player, Jozy Altidore, who just signed on for 4 years playing for Sunderland. If you want to start at the bottom this would be a team to go with. The fact they purchased Altidore is a good sign for the future.

    Manchester City is not a bad choice. Better choice than United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham.

    Choose United if you want to be like every other American who is too lazy to research the clubs.
    Choose Liverpool if you are white trash.
    Choose Arsenal if you love Bin Laden.
    Choose Tottenham if you are Jewish.

    Other than that it's Chelsea or City.

    Much of my work is done on the interwebs researching.

    Yep it would go like this:

    • CLW dominates regular season cruising to #1 seed
    • struggles but makes the playoffs to meet CLW in 1st round
    • suspends CLW's entire 1st team due to some FN in the 50 page league rule book;
    • CLW knocks out 1-0 and goes on to win the TGT Cup

    I'll probably be in here asking basic questions too.

    I said in another thread that the last FIFA I had was for PS1 but it might have been for Genesis, haha. I've been interested but just never pull the trigger.
