Follow Bowl Season with the 2012-2013 Bowl Blitz Invitational

As the owner of Stat Box Stories, I am delighted to announce the 2012-2013 Bowl Blitz Invitational using EA SPORTS NCAA Football 13. Those of you who followed along with last year's project know that the goal of the Bowl Blitz Invitational is to play out the 35 Bowl Games, recording the statistics, screenshots, and videos to share the results of the match-ups. If you are new to the game, check out the collected entries from last year's project here: http://statboxstories.wordpress.com/...-invitational/

This year, instead of such a large emphasis being placed on blow-by-blow stories recounting the games, the focus will be turned to reporting certain pieces of key information about each game. Like last year, full statistics for each game will be reported. Volunteers will also be expected to report the following information:
    • Player of the Game: Either the player selected by the game or the player's choice.
    • "It was over when...": Which play--or series of plays--directly led to the result of the game.
    • "Game ball goes to...": Recognize an unsung hero who might not have been "eligible" for full Player of the Game honors.
    • "Stat of the Game": An interesting statistic which reveals something that played a key role in the end result of the game.

While we have a number of returning volunteers and contributors to this year's project, there are still games available for people to sign up for and play. If you think you might be interested in contributing a Bowl Game write-up for this year's Bowl Blitz Invitational, consider the following guidelines below and then comment on this post with the available game you would like to play:
    • Bowl Games in NCAA Football 13 can be played on whatever difficulty you like, using whatever sliders you wish.
    • Bowl Games should be played in the designated bowl stadium in the game; please try to replicate the time of day for the game.
    • Suggested quarter length is 7 minutes, but any quarter length at least 5 minutes or greater is acceptable.
    • If you use named rosters, the write-ups and statistical tracking should reference the player's position and number as though you were playing the game out of the box. Please avoid having names appear in screenshots or video highlights if at all possible.
    • The Bowl Game must be completed at least one day before the game is played in real life so that the entry can be compiled on my end; be mindful of the schedule so that you have the time needed to finish.
    • Once you have signed up for a Bowl Game, you will be given the link to a shared Google Doc spreadsheet to record your statistics. Please do not share this link with anybody else to avoid "spoilers."
    • Submissions will be emailed to paakaa10@gmail.com.

Comment in this thread to sign-up for one of the available Bowl Games, and come back frequently once Bowl Season begins to see the results!

With the Bowl Game spots filling so fast, there may be people reading this who wanted a game but did not quite make it in time to reserve one. If you are interested in being added to a "Reserve List" in case anybody should be unable to complete their game, please comment and we'll start keeping track.

Oh man... sorry that your first two choices didn't work out (for entirely different reasons haha). Thanks for taking the Sun Bowl!

I'll take the Beef O' Grady bowl and the Military Bowl and I'd also like to do the BBVA Compass Bowl for our late friend Darius who was a HUGE Ole Miss fan.

Souljah, if you want to do the New Orleans you'd be welcome to. I can find another game to do.

It could be an even trade and then Tommy would be doing the exact same two Bowl Games he did for last year's project haha.

I can think of no better tribute for someone who was part of the TGT community; thank you, Snoop!

Give souljahbill the New Orleans Bowl and I'll take the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl... I'd take the Sun but since I despise GA Tech for getting in at 6-7 and I would want to play as the underdog, I'd rather not.

I'm good with that; if souljahbill wants to do both the New Orleans and the Sun, that works. If not, we'll have him on the New Orleans, Tommy on the Kraft Fight Hunger, and the Sun open for somebody to claim.

...and me unable to update the table since I'm on my phone and I'm not wading through that code on this screen.

If you want to play as Louisville, I'll trade with you and pick up the Poinsettia. No problem at all.

Also, to MrHitStick and MVP; let me know your email addresses (either publicly or PM me) so I can send the link to the spreadsheet.

    Thank you!

I have switched to the Poinsettia Bowl in order to let xMrHitStickx904 use Louisville in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The sign-up table in the first post should now be completely updated to where we are now.

I have added a note to the original post about "Reserve Players"; once the one remaining open bowl--the between and --has been claimed, anybody who wants to be part of the project but did not get to claim a game in time will be added to the first come, first serve list. If anybody who has claimed a game is either unable to complete it or decides to give a game up to somebody else, the bowl will be "awarded" to the first person on the list.

I'm very excited that we've got 34 Bowl Games claimed in the first few days of this thread being online! Looking forward to a great second installment of the project.
