Finally some cards being thrown around. Was this a violent game or was the ref just calling everything???

I'm assuming steeler is playing with refs set to random, so probably a mix of his sliders and having a Strict/Strict rated ref for the match.

Both. I would suggest that you always use a strict referee. I don't, because I like the variety, but it would definitely give you better results.

Yeah, I think I had either an average or lenient ref in my one match yesterday. I'm gonna play a match here in a bit with the Rapids and some other MLS squad, play on a more equal level matchup this time, and try with a strict ref, see how I end up doing. Ultimately, I'm planning on going with refs set to random when I start my career, because, like you, I like the variety from match to match.

Me thinks the strict refs are going to slaughter me. Just played a match as Colorado vs. Portland. Gonna have a lot of slider work to do. Steeler, will your sliders still work pretty good on Semi-pro level? If not, I'm gonna have a lot of work ahead to get decent sliders worked out. Results from my match:

    Colorado/Portland

    Goals 5/0
    Shots 15/0
    SOT 8/1
    Possession 47/53
    Tackles 25/17
    Fouls 7/3
    Yellow 4/0
    Red 0/0
    Injuries 1/0
    Offsides 1/0
    Corners 1/1

    SA% 53/20
    PA% 64/73

Counterattacks and stolen throw-ins are my savior. 3 goals came on counterattacks, and the other two came from stealing a throw-in in my territory and proceeding to sprint my way into a numbers advantage, often 4 or 5 on 2 or 3. Ultimately, from where I stand on these first draft sliders right now, CPU GK ability has to go up, User shot error has to go up, lower CPU shot error and maybe give the CPU a boost in sprint speed. Regardless, I know I've got a long way to go to working these sliders out to match my ability level and keep them realistic.

Nah, they won't work on other skill levels. I would suggest you try Pro. Semi is way too easy.

You can use the non-skill sliders of mine like speed, acceleration, and positioning. Those should work universally.

Alright, I'll set those sliders up and I'll give Pro a try.

When I got through all the first time menus and got into the game, it had me set up on Semi (whether it detected and set that from my time playing FIFA 10, or my account settings or however it set that), so being the first time I've played a true game of soccer since FIFA 10, I stuck with it, especially since I'm still very very rusty with my skills and on the pitch. There have even been a couple times while screwing around in the practice arena, that I forget which button is the button to shoot.

I'm playing on 10 minute halves right now, I may eventually bump up to 15, but so far 10 has worked pretty well.

I understand, Smooth. Last year was the first FIFA title I played since the Genesis days. But, after about 10 games in career, it was painfully obvious that I couldn't "slider" the AI into competitiveness on Semi. Just a suggestion, start with Pro and make the sliders help you be competitive.

The announcers also mentioned that it was one of the player's birthday. Never heard that before.

I conceded the lone goal of the match in the 89', losing at home to Dallas, 1-0. I had my chances, even after falling behind, but I couldn't finish.

I'm not going to bore you guys with all of the math, but the percentage of shots on target that actually result in goals is 6-8% below where I'd like it to be. That said, I'm going to lower GKA for the User and the AI by 2 each. I'll stick with that for a handful of matches to see if it gives the desired effect.

I'm also increasing Shot Error for the User by 2.

Currently, those are only slightly off of where I'd like them, statistically. Everything else is perfect.

I didn't record the stats but lost my first game of my career, 2-0 but the game felt good and I got beat by a better team but not blown out either.

    I'm Philadelphia in the MLS.
