I've spent the evening adjusting sliders and playing half matches to try them out.

I got a few of my basic sliders from Orion at OS, so I want to be sure he gets credit. That said, he is obviously more skilled than I am at FIFA so my current set doesn't really resemble his that much.

    Here is what I have:

    Controls

    Auto Switching: Air Balls
    Move Assistance: High
    Passing Power Assistance: Off
    Pass Assistance: Semi
    Through Pass Assistance: Assisted
    Shot Assistance: Semi
    Cross Assistance: Semi
    Lob Pass Assistance: Assisted
    Save Assistance: Semi
    Analog Sprint: On
    Defending: Tactical Defending

    Game Settings

    Match

    Half Length: 15
    Difficulty Level: World Class
    Referee: Random
    Game Speed: Slow
    Ball: Default

    Rules

Set ALL to On (Handball is Off by default)

    Gameplay Customization

    (User/CPU)
    Sprint Speed: 39/39
    Acceleration: 42/42
    Shot Error: 93/70
    Pass Error: 40/60
    Shot Speed: 48/48
    Pass Speed: 48/48
    Injury Frequency: 53/53
    Injury Severity: 50/50
    Goalkeeper Ability: 70/65
    Marking: 85/81
    Run Frequency: 15/15
    Line Height: 49/49
    Line Length: 44/44
    Line Width: 42/42
    Fullback Positioning: 50/50
    Power Bar: 58/--
    First Touch Control Error: 71/71

I'm going to tune the sliders above by playing clubs against themselves to see how the stats come out.

My first match was Chelsea vs Chelsea. I was the home club. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Here are the numbers:

    (User/CPU)
    Shots: 15/19
    SOT: 4/5
    Possession: 47/53
    Tackles: 6/30
    Fouls: 5/4
    Yellows: 2/0
    Reds: 0/0
    Injuries: 0/2
    Offside: 1/0
    Corners: 6/5

    Shot Accuracy %: 26/26
    Pass Accuracy %: 75/75

As you can see, everything is pretty damn close, except for Tackles. I'll have to work on that. I need Shot% to be around 33% (across all clubs, as a total - Chelsea should be shooting better) and Pass% to be around 81%. Overall though, pretty damn good for the little amount of adjusting that I've done.

I got a half in as Tottenham vs Tottenham. I didn't write the numbers down, but I was up 1-0. Everything was extremely even again and Possession was 51/49 for the CPU (the home side).

I do remember that Tackles were 15/8 for the CPU which, while not ideal, is certainly better than the last match.

I think I've got a great starting point for my Career Mode. I'm going to play a bit more tomorrow, focusing on tweaking shooting and passing accuracies. Hopefully, by Thursday, I can get my career underway.

I made some small tweaks to Pass Error and Shot Error and got very undesirable results.

I played as the visiting side in an Everton vs Everton match and won, 5-1. Back to the drawing board, lol.

The good news is that the CPU took 3 Yellows in the match.

It's kinda odd how other people's sliders work well in NCAA, but not for me in FIFA. I've played about 4 or 5 matches on what I have so far and am really happy with what I got.

I just played a half of Norwich vs Norwich and there were 3 bookings in the half.

I just lost, at Old Trafford, as Reading. United took it to me, 3-0. The match felt just as I would expect it to given the matchup. I was dominated, but not in a cheap way at all.

    Here's the numbers:

    Manchester United/Reading

    Shots: 22/6
    SOT: 11/1
    Possession: 54/46
    Tackles: 25/18
    Fouls: 2/2
    Cards: 0/0
    Injuries: 1/1
    Offsides: 0/0
    Corners: 4/1

    SA%: 50/16
    PA%: 86/68

I wanted to play one as a heavy underdog to see what the results would be like. I'm going to update the second post with my current sliders (not final, of course).

Steeler, I see you are getting a few cards. Do you think it's more SLIDERS/DIFFICULTY SETTING/TIME/STYLE OF PLAY??? or a combination of all? I have looked at your stats and they look good but foul and cards are too low still IMO as compared to say a typical MLS match. I really wish that FIFA would add a PENALTY slider. I personally love the strategy that comes in with a lot of cards against your team.

I think it's really just better decisions by the refs. Obviously, 15-minute halves are important too. The more time you play, the greater the number of potential bookings will be.

I lost my second match, again conceding a penalty, at San Jose, 3-2. It's only 2 matches, but if this scoring keeps up, I will have to consider raising Goalkeeping while I'm in the lower leagues.

I've lowered Injury Frequency to 55/55 after having 4 players out after just 2 matches. Obviously, the tuning of the Impact Engine has resulted in more injuries. I believe, last year I had this set at 63.

After allowing a late goal (89'), I drew a penalty in stoppage time, and converted with Brad Davis, to earn a 2-2 draw at Columbus.

After another loss, 3-1 at DC, I'm going to lower Shot Accuracy for both the User and CPU. I'm also going back to default for Injury Frequency and Severity. The injuries are piling up right now.

    The DC numbers...

    DC/Hou

    Shots 15/15
    SOT 8/7
    Possession 54/46
    Tackles 20/15
    Fouls 6/4
    Yellow 1/2
    Red 0/0
    Injuries 2/2
    Offsides 2/0
    Corners 7/4

After a horrendous 1-1-5 start to the season, I finally got to play a match at home. I beat DC, 1-0.

I'm going to raise User GK Ability. I seem to have the SA % in check, but I'm seeing too many goals against me. I just lost to Portland, 4-1 at home.

    Shots 10/16
    SOT 3/6
    Possession 49/51
    Tackles 11/29
    Fouls 5/3
    Yellow 0/0
    Red 0/0
    Injuries 0/0
