"Blue" player icon

When in game, I go to the depth chart or stats and look at my players, in the upper-left corner between the player position box and number and their big head I sometimes see a blue player with a ring of blue stars around it. Keep in mind I am color blind, so it may not be blue. What does that mean? It rotates with the All-American icon and some others too.
