    12: Season 6 Week 1

Week 1 is here. No UvU games but I tried to make sure everyone had a warm-up game to start the season. Deadline is 5/4.

One thing to keep in mind about this season, unless we move quickly, this is likely our last of NCAA12. Last season took just shy of two months to complete which would obviously put us right up on the release of NCAA13. I'd love to move quickly and get this season plus maybe another half season or so.

Welcome to Week 1! Remember to visit dynasty.easports.com to write your own stories.

East Carolina Narrowly Edges Rival NC State in Home Opener
    Shaky start forces theatrical comeback

Greenville, NC - Fans were excited for newly minted head coach gschwendt to introduce his brand of football to the Carolinas but that excitement quickly fluttered as on their opening drive, the Pirates turned the ball over with one of five interceptions on the day. In fact, those five interceptions all came in just the first half. But the second half saw both sides of the football settle into place allowing the come-from-behind victory.

QB Derrick Turner, thought to be the engine of the offense, performed quite poorly early on, throwing interceptions on his first two series of the game and not helping his offense find the endzone until just minutes before the half. However, the second half, Turner seemed to settle down and settle in as his role as leader of this team. On the day, he completed 28 of 45 passes for 424 yards with 4 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

Down 24-21, East Carolina had the ball with 3 minutes remaining hoping to score with very little time left. However, the Wolfpack seemed to let the Pirates drive down the field at will eventually allowing them to score the 28-24 go-ahead with 1:43 remaining. From there, NC State drove the length of the field eventually setting up at the ECU 10 yard line. However, on 3rd & goal from the 3, NCSU went to the well one too many times as they tried to connect on their 25th screen pass to the HB on the day. True Freshman SS Jeremy Schultz picked up on the play and picked off the pass and then returned it 95 yards for the pick-six.

After the game, coach gschwendt had this to say, "we struggled today. Not sure if it was first game jitters, or new coaching staff, or just the team not having enough confidence in themselves but we came out horrible out of the gate. As a coaching staff, we know what this team is capable... it's just a matter of breaking them of the habit of expecting to lose. Today is something that can help us get that started. Next week though, we'll have to play an entire game like we did in the fourth quarter, but... we can do that, even against Virginia Tech."

With the win, East Carolina starts off the season 1-0 and next travel to #13 Virginia Tech. The unfortunate side of the day though is that WR Tyler Davis was injured for at least the next four weeks. Davis was integral in the win catching 6 passes for 166 yards and 2 TDs. Davis' deep threat aspect will be sorely lost during his absence.

done, Troy wins the Palladium Trophy as they beat rival MTSU 40-21 to start the season..Still giving up alot of sacks and couldnt find much running room as AA Fred Johnson rushed for 70+ yards before getting hurt in the 3rd quarter.

FIU stomped FAU. Cornelius Jackson refined his game over the off-season dropping his Scrambling Quarterback label. He went 20/27 with over 300 yards and 3 TD's 0 Int's. If he can keep his game close to that level I see the O having an explosive year. The reason I say that is because the phenom Willie Guiterrez is back for his Junior year after racking up over 1,000 and 13TD's last year. Slick Willie started the season with 100+ yards and 2 TD's. Our WR core is nothing special but it's very solid with a good bit of speed and all WR's over 6'1. Line play was ok 2 true sacks given up...

The true key to this season is what the Defense can do. One of Recruiting/Offensive Coordinator Lefty Hook's stud recruits already made an impact. B.J. Daniels the true freshman FS had a pick and a few tackles. We decided to Redshirt rising DE Victor Todd and the guy in his place had a sack and 2 TFL's. On the day the D had 3 picks. If the D can come along we may pull off a few upsets.

    Signed a 4* FS.

Nope... didn't touch the sliders this season. In fact, I don't think I've touched them in the past 2-3 seasons.
