    2012 Fantasy Baseball Thread

If there is something I like more than Fantasy Football, it's Fantasy Baseball!

Let's start this thread off with an FYI.

Mike Stanton will no longer go as Mike Stanton this year. He's going by his real name Giancarlo Stanton

Still is going to be a guy to target early this season!

We doing a TGT league? I'd be interested in joining. I've sort of fallen out of fantasy sports for the last year or two, so would be game for some fantasy baseball.

Yeah...I could probably set one up on Yahoo. As long as people will be dedicated enough to play it and manage a daily run league.

Might have to be ESPN because I might be full on slots for Yahoo. Last I knew you could only be in four leagues.

Daily MLB/basketball leagues are strenuous. I usually forget on the weekends or when im not at work since I do most my suring while on the clock

We could do weekly leagues too, but my experience on these is half the league just loses interest, and I'm in four leagues as it is. Three $ ones and one freebie, but it's a dynasty league.

I'm pretty much just like Tex. I do most while at work so weekends I struggle to remember.

I may be interested though if we can gain some interest.

Oh and this could be a pay league. Everyone could pay me

As I'm preparing for fantasy baseball drafts, it's so weird reading Giancarlo Stanton. I have to do a double take every time.

So my commish finally started up our Yahoo league. Went into the predraft rankings and the have Miguel Cabrera at the #1 overall???? I'm not buying that one. Him and Prince will definitely rotate at 1st and they'll have a rotation in left field so I bet he doesn't even play every day.

Also I bet Pujois has a down year.

Almost every ranking has him #1.

Well obviously I'm delusional then. I just can't see taking him 1st when they have Prince as well. Especially over someone like Matt Kemp.

Auctions have him a good $2-$3 ahead of #2.

CBS for example has Miggy at $42, and Joey Bats at $39.

Cabrera is down 15 pounds and has seen reps at his original position - third base. I would agree w/a #1 overall ranking also because he will see more pitches, cannot just walk him and Prince now. Whereas Pujols has...well um...Pujols unless I'm forgetting someone. Torri Hunter/Morales don't scare me enough.

Yeah I can buy into that with him seeing more pitches. The situation reminds me of the Red Sox a few years ago when they had Victor Martinez. There was too much of a rotation between 1st, catcher and 3rd base and none of those guys were really consistent.

They have one too many players and someone is going to have to sit.

I had Cabrera last year and he did well for me, I just don't think he warrants a #1. Give me Matt Kemp

Have started a draft of the first 10 rounds or so via text in one $ league. I have my next full draft tomorrow night, and have drawn the 7th pick. Here's who I'm thinking of at #7:

    1. Robinson Cano - NYY
    2. Troy Tulowitzki - COL
    3. Jacoby Ellsbury - BOS

Not sure I want to go pitcher in the first round (a 7x7 league), but maybe depending on how things fall I'll go Roy Halladay. Obviously if someone like Kemp or Bautista, or Braun fall, I'd take them, but doubt I'll have the chance at #7.

So the big draft is tonight. I'm definitely going no pitcher with the #7 pick. I think Ellsbury is my leader over Cano right now, as I don't think Tulo will get to me. (12 team league)

I'm not completely happy with my pitching though. Kyle Lohse is still sitting out there and I might go grab him. Not a lot of people thinking he'll repeat last years numbers. I took a risk on Matt Moore they keep saying he'll be in the rotation, but I might drop him for Lohse.
