    Coach O'Connor's Quotes
    --On the offense's performance
"We played like shit. It was terrible. We did an awful job on getting anything out of our running game and we did a piss poor job of completing a decent amount of passes. We are definitely not happy after this performance. No matter how good the other team is, we can't play like this and expect to win every time."

    --On the defense's performance
"Besides the pretty big day on the ground and a few big plays given up to their offense, our defense was spectacular. The played some of the best football that they've played all year. The amount of sacks we had and the amount of fumbles we recreated were excellent. We still just really need to work on getting the amount of yards allowed down."

Yeah man, I don't envy you on that. Mine was fairly easy because I knew what all needed to be changed and it was all pretty much the same.

    Recruiting Update Part Trois
After a hard fought win over Connecticut in the Chowder Bowl, SAU was issued two more letters of intent from prospects, to bring SAU's recruit total up to 9.

DE #117 - Marcus Pollard - Old Bridge, NJ
    6'3" - 219 lbs - 63.00

Marcus brings excellent run stopping skills with his ability to shed blocks and bone crunching tackles.

    G #89 - Robert Flores - Beverly, MA
    6'2", 301 lbs - 57.00

Robert's pass blocking skills are very much coveted as he would be a most welcomed addition to the offensive line.

#4#13 - NC State tries to continue their undefeated streak as they put their BCS Championship hopes on the line at Florida State who is attempting to rebound from a horrible loss to Maryland last week

    Last Week's Upsets

    #4
    40 - 24
Florida State comes out strong in the first quarter, making the score 21-3 at the start of the 2nd quarter, but it was Maryland from there on, outscoring the Seminoles 37-3 and holding them to just 253 total yards while punishing them on the ground with 158 yards and 2 TDs.

    #6#9
    10 - 21
Michigan State punishes another team on the ground as they rack up 234 yards and 2 TDs for the day on Wisconsin. Michigan State's defense being the difference in the game, holding Wisconsin to just 299 total yards and 104 on the ground in 33 attempts.

    #5
    14 - 9
Boston College wins one that they probably shouldn't have with 3 turnovers to just 1 by Virginia Tech, but the Boston College defense holds Virginia Tech to just one TD and one FG in four attempts inside the red zone, making it the difference in a hard fought, defensive battle.

    #15
    20 - 25
Ole Miss holds Arkansas to just 6 points in the second half and registers 16 to pull out the victory and put Arkansas to 0-3 in SEC play.

    #18
    24 - 10
Georgia Tech's triple option running game was unstoppable (52 attempts for 277 yards and 2 TDs) as they ground them down with first down after first down.

    #24
    24 - 17
USC jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first half and held on for the win as Notre Dame outscored them 17-7 in the second half. Unfortunately for Notre Dame, USC was able to run out the final minute of the game and take home just their 4th win of the season with the rivalry game win.

    #25
    38 - 35
This OT thriller came down to a defensive battle at the end with WVU having to kick a 47 Yd FG to win the game during their possession in the first OT.

    Coach O'Connor's Quotes
--On the performance of QB Chris Sanders
"He really bounced back after having a terrible game the previous week and we're really glad that he did because we needed every bit of it from him to pull this win out. Breaking both of his previous records for the season in yards in a game and TDs in a game is just icing on the cake for us. Wins are what it's all about."

    --On the defense's performance
"We were pretty awful again on this side of the ball. We made some adjustments in the 2nd half and it really seemed to work for us, but, for the most part, it looked like Western Michigan could do anything they wanted against us and the stats show that. Props to them for taking it to our defense, but we have got to play better. Sooner or later, we're going to end up getting bite in the ass because of our inconstistency on both sides of the ball."

--On the status of star LB Stephon Hooper's recovery
"Right now, it looks like he's recoverying quite nicely. We expect him to be back for the Holy Cross game, at the latest. He's been doing a great job of rehabbing his back injury and has been really big in film study with staying up to date on everything with the new additions we've made to the defensive side of the ball. Not to mention that he's been doing walkthroughs on the field, in preperation for his return with the coaching staff so that he can get his reads down and the simple motions for his position."

    Other Featured Match-ups

    Conference Kirk's Pick
#17#22 - Arkansas is only looking for their 2nd win in SEC play while South Carolina attempts to keep pace with Georgia in the SEC East division
#4#2 - The biggest game of the year pits two top 5 teams both playing for a spot in the BCS Title Game as well as a spot in the SEC Title game. LSU wins this, there's a very good chance they'll be playing for the BCS Title as well as have a real chance to leap Alabama for the SEC Title spot for the West
#12#5 - both teams try to keep pace with Oklahoma State for the Big 12 Conference title as both teams also try to keep their BCS Title bids alive. The loser is guaranteed to be out of both

    Last Week's Upsets

    #4#13
    14 - 37
NC State most likely blows their chances at a BCS Title birth with an embarrassing showing against the Seminoles as the Noles defense destroys them (1-11 on 3rd downs).

    #10#8
    35 - 24
Wisconsin forces 3 turnovers and holds Ohio State scoreless in the 2nd half as they roll on in their bid for the Leaders division lead though they are still two games behind Penn State (5-0) but have a match up between with them on Nov 26th that will probably decide the division.

    #16
    18 - 17
4 FGs by Mississippi State kicker DePasquale gives them the 18-17 win as they hold Kentucky scoreless in the 2nd half.

    #24
    20 - 17
A last second 47 yard FG puts Georgia firmly in the lead in the SEC East with a tiebreaker win over South Carolina and only Kentucky and Auburn left to play.

    #21
    36 - 29
Turnovers were the deciding factor as Colorado forced two fumbles without turning the ball over once on their way to the upset win.

    Game Of Week 9

    #5 #2
    38 - 45
A game that would start fast for Michigan State with an 80 yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage and see them score 31 points in the 1st half, turned out to be all Nebraska in the 2nd half. Nebraska outscored Michigan State 32-7 in the second half, and scored the game winning TD with just 3:25 left in the 4th as their defense held on for the win, and made Nebraska the new #1 team in the country.

    Coach O'Connor's Quotes
--On the performance of his team
"We played our worst game of the season today. Props to Navy for grounding out defense into a bloody pulp. They did exactly what I was afraid was going to happen, sooner or later, to us. They held the ball, and crushed us on the ground with methodical drives. We should couldn't stop them, which forced us to try and make the most of the drives we got, which resulted in terrible mistakes that amplified the importance of every drive for both sides of the ball that much more. We've got to bounce back from this loss, in a hurry."

Boy, did I get my ass handed to me by Navy. I just couldn't stop their running game at all. It was nuts, and extremely frustrating. God, do I miss my good LBs...
