Last weekend was the worst weekend for movies in 15 years. This has been a weak July and especially August for movies imo and the ticket sales have reflected it. Why cram things in May? Any time a good movie is released it will do well. LOTR did fantastic with a December release. The idea that blockbusters should only be released at certain times is wrong. I wish there was a good movie to bring the kids to before heading hack to school but nothing but garbage out right now.

Just saw Thor Ragnorok. I’d give it 7/10. Had some funny parts for sure. But not much of a plot and the characters weren’t overly special. I didn’t care much for Jeff Goldblums character. The first Thor was easily the best for me.
I want to like the Jurassic World 2 trailer but I just can't. It feels like a movie that had to be made rather than a movie that should be made.
The same could be said for the first "trilogy" lol. First movie fantastic, rest unnecessary but since the first one made so much money a sequel was going to be made no matter what.
I felt that trailer gave a bit too much away. The first movie with Pratt was very similar to the original movie imo. They shared a lot of the same things. If it's fun I will like it. Unless there are horrible reviews our family will be seeing it.
Last thought. I'm pretty sick of Jeff Goldblum. His weird schtick has gone too far and I just find him annoying. He was terrible in the new Thor movie and his character was the worst thing about that movie.
I have always found that guy to be weird. Never cared for him at all. Fwiw.
Star Wars 8 Last Jedi was a disappointment. Long at 2.5 hours plus previews and most of movie was pointless time filler. Some good scenes along with some humour but 6.5/10.
I will elaborate that the overall narrative felt dumb and very unrealistic. I enjoyed some fight scenes and I liked the Rey and Luke story but the rest was poorly written. I find it hard to believe they couldn’t write a decent story for SW. Zero reason for a movie with no real substance to be this long. They did reuse a major plot point from the originals. I have no idea how a movie without a real plot or food writing gets over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Bought and paid for with a score that high. Similar quality to Rogue One which I felt was weak too. In no way is the quality close to Empire like some were saying. My local movie and review sections is giving a 6.5 with over 50 reviews. These movies are cash grabs because if you take the SW label off nobody would be flocking to the theatre for it.
