I actually attended the cover photo shoot as a "reward" in the EA SPORTS Game Changers program. Very cool to see the time-lapse footage of how it all got put together; we only showed up at 7AM so it was all put together at that point in time.
Here are some shots I grabbed with my own camera (apologies for the giant images):
WHITE POWER
gotta love my boy Hillis on the cover.
With Peyton Hillis on the Madden NFL 12 cover, Marshall Faulk on the Hall of Fame edition cover, and Mark Ingram on the NCAA Football 12 cover, it piqued my curiosity as to whether or not running backs had ever swept the covers before. To my surprise, it's happened on multiple occasions:
1999: (Technically) Barry Sanders in the background behind John Madden for Madden NFL 2000, Ricky Williams on the cover of NCAA Football 2000.
2000: Eddie George on the cover of Madden NFL 2001, Shaun Alexander on the cover of NCAA Football 2001.
2006: Shaun Alexander on the cover of Madden NFL 07, Reggie Bush on the cover of NCAA Football 07.
