Pac-10 looking to expand to 16; gut Big 12

The latest news/rumors on conference expansion & changes:

The Big 12 is getting expansion target practice from both sides.
Chip Brown, a reporter for the Rivals.com Texas site, is reporting that six Big 12 schools are targets for Pac-10 expansion. The six: Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado. The league would be split into divisions with the Big 12 schools joining Arizona and Arizona State for one division, and the remaining Pac-10 schools in the other.

It's funny cause that just sounds like another direction that a conference could go to get a championship game.

I just wish something would happen that would facilitate all of this and get it over and done with. Tired of all the guessing that people are doing from "sources".

The Colorado AD is now saying he expects invites for the six schools this weekend when the Pac-10 has their meeting this weekend.

Meh. I personally think it's fine the way it is. The Big 12 needs some help in the Northern Division. I don't know. Seems kind of stupid for the PAC 10 to suddenly advance to 16 teams. All this will do is lead to the Big 10 expanding to 16 teams, the SEC expanding to 16 teams, and the ACC MAYBE expanding to 16 teams but they'll lose teams in the SEC expansion and possibly in a Big 10 expansion?

I always thought of the Big East getting left behind. I never saw the destruction of the Big 12. I imagine the ACC will try to take the good teams left over from the Big East if the SEC doesn't steal from them. This may overshadow the announcement of Boise St. joining the WAC on Monday. I still think 16 team conferences are stupid. 12 is perfect.
