From this YouTube video of a TD scored in 2007:

Looks like there are fireworks on one side of the stadium but no cannon can be heard.

    - No

No cannons at Illinois, but loud fireworks are shot off the brick towers at each corner of the stadium after scores

    - No cannon.

No cannon. They come out of the tunnel with fireworks going off on both sides as they enter the field.

Here's a video of a touchdown and extra point from Tennessee with no apparent fireworks or cannon:

I know that's hardly definitive in terms of there not being a cannon whatsoever, but it does answer the question as to what is done on a score.

    Yohhh Good job bro!

    You are da man!!!

    Did you graduate from UMCP?

We need a picture of this so EA can get it in the game.

And a video of a touchdown for the TCU Horned Frogs:

Hearing a foghorn/train whistle type sound effect after the score--and have heard that on multiple videos--but haven't found any footage or information to suggest that a cannon is used or present on scoring plays.

The band plays our fight song after each touchdown we score.

I've watched a decent amount of Tennessee games over the years, and all I can remember is hearing Rocky Top, with absolutely no cannon.

A YouTube video clip from the student section of a Cardinal touchdown, the extra point, and celebration:

Very loud train whistle, creepy-ass dancing tree, but no sign of a cannon to me.

    - Yes

    From wardhoosier:

There is a long barrel modern military style cannon just outside the stadium by the main entrances. There are two actually, and I believe they were taken off an aircraft carrier. They fire after every touchdown although I am not sure if it is just one or both.

"No cannon, just an annoying air raid siren."
"Its actually an oilfield siren. Manned by frontiersmen. Ironic."
