To add further confusion to the Temple situation, here's a highlight video from the 2009 season that shows the band sitting in section 116. Take a look at the play that starts at 0:18 and you see a quick glimpse of the band just before the receiver catches the ball and as he walks back.

Here's one from this year showing them in 116 at 1:49

Away Band looks to be in RR in bottom pic, but not in the first pic. Personally, I say we go with it. (Maybe they are mirrored in EE or E?)

Hawaii is actually in Section R. Ignore the field art in the seating guide and look at the huge tunnel, indicated on chart. IIRC, baseballplyrmvp's pic from earlier showed the R seating sign in the pic.
I'm good with that thinking; I think we need to go back to what we have down as Hawaii's home band section at Aloha Stadium--non-bowl related--to ensure that we have consistency in the final reporting, however.

Looks pretty conclusive to me; I'd be fine with putting Section 116 down on our report and amending it in the future if something else comes up to show otherwise.

What sections should we put down? One team is R, I think E is a respectable guess. No pics are showing them in what I call the top and upper left sections.

EDIT - Right now, I'm leaning towards R for Away Band, RR for Home Band. Despite being at their Home Stadium, Hawaii is in the road unis (guessing the designate as Away squad for fairness). They do sit in RR for Home games, so that would make sense.

RE: Temple - 116 is fine with me! They must shove them around based on expected turnout each game.

Hawai'i is confusing the hell out of me right now; from the pictures included in the original Hawai'i team post, it is abundantly clear that they are on the north side of the stadium in Section RR. From the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl pictures, however, the band is sitting in Section R; also on the north side of the stadium. The Hawai'i Bowl picture is from 2006 as far as I'm aware, while I don't know the years of the Hawai'i pictures.

The Hawai'i Bowl pictures from another user showed Hawai'i's band in Section R. When I went back to try and find the other band location in the Hawai'i Bowl, a 2008 picture showed Hawai'i's band in Section R. Based on the orientation of the field logo across pictures, the one picture I had of another band seemed to place them in Section RR. But only that one picture appears to show a band there, and in others there is no band but there are fans in the seats.

Wish we had a resident Aloha Stadium expert here.

    EDIT

But if we absolutely, positively had to make a final gun-to-my-head call, I would say that Hawai'i sits in Section RR when they play home games and that the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl places the designated away team in Section R and the designated home team in Section RR. Maybe only some schools actually justify the expense of sending a team band out for the bowl game.

This will be the last random question i post here, but I was wondering if student sections would be featured in the game?

I don't think we'll know for a while what will be included in NCAA Football 12 in terms of crowd improvements. Based on this call for help, however, it certainly looks like the art team is committed to improving the stadium experience over the next few years to come. Like I said before, we'll probably see improvements in small stages and in a few years hopefully it'll be pretty darn close to what we actually see in the stadiums on Saturdays. I'm just thrilled that the team came to the community for help and we answered in such a big way; hopefully that means that the team will call on us as a community for more things in the future.

Student sections would be easier to find because almost all seating charts will have that marked out

Seriously... this "job" would've been done in under a day if we'd been looking for student sections and not band seating sections haha.

If all the seating charts were like the Cal one I found, this would have been much easier.

One lesson learned: all seating charts are not created equal. Some were great--like the Cal one you found and the detailed Stanford one I found--and some were either out of date or did a really poor job replicating what the stadium actually looks like.

Another lesson learned: searching for any pictures through Google is freakin' dangerous. I wish I'd included some of the near-pornographic pictures that came up in my searches over the past few days; along with some of the really, really awful posed pictures of people at stadiums. And then that picture of bin Laden that came up when I was searching for the Armed Forces Bowl. Quite the mess I waded through.

You wouldn't believe the types of images that appeared when I searched for Vanderbilt Stadium.

There is one ticket company where their image file of the seating chart has no legend

Only one? Haha; definitely stumbled upon a handful of "great sources" which didn't identify what the various colors on their seating charts meant.

On a somewhat more relevant note, JB; do you know when CDJ will be back to look at the thread? Interested to get his take on what we want to put for our final band sections for Hawai'i and the Hawai'i Bowl. I was sticking with Sections R and RR because I couldn't find anything significant to make me think otherwise.

    EDIT:

Don't feel as though I don't want your opinion on those sections either, JB haha. Just looking for another pair of eyes to help with the last numbers we're really dealing with.

i'll ask around on a couple of message boards for an answer

I think that's the right call. We have several pics of them in the Hawaii Bowl in Section R and one shot of a non-Hawaii band in RR, so I think we have to go with it.

That idea crossed my mind this morning - maybe some schools do not send bands out the long trip to Hawaii, even if it is a bowl.

Dudes... I've tried to keep my cool. But seriously? Screw you, Hawai'i, and your damn Aloha Stadium too.

Here's a picture from the 2010 Hawai'i Bowl with the Hawai'i Band clearly in Section R but no apparent band in Section RR:

Here is a standard Hawai'i game in recent years with no band on (what I believe) is the opposite side of the field; we had speculated that Section E (or EE, I forget) might be the visiting band section, but this seems to contradict that:

And another shot from the 2010 Hawai'i Bowl with no band in Section RR, the Hawai'i band out of the shot in Section R, and no band on the visible opposite end of the stadium:

Still nothing more conclusive than before, but at least more information to work from.

Guess we have to add Tulsa to my list of band section nemeses too then haha.

Makes a lot of sense now though. Guess we can go with Section R and RR and if anybody complains, we can blame schools for not sending their bands haha.
