• Bleacher Report: Interview with Ben Haumiller

Bleacher Report's Brian Mazique recently interviewed NCAA Football Producer Ben Haumiller to discuss all things NCAA Football 14.

Many of the topics covered will be familiar to those who follow franchise news closely. However, for those who have not kept up, the interview covers a wide range of topics including gameplay, presentation, game development, and NCAA Football Ultimate Team.

Continue on to listen to the 43 minute-long show and read some of the highlights. After listening, share your thoughts with the community.

    - Game will ship with standard "WR #80" player names.
    - EA Locker will return.
    - Additional editable coach fields: W-L, years coached, bowl record, award winners coached, etc.
    - No new names added to player name database.
    - Two branching storylines as game develops: Drive Summary & Key Player Story.
    - Dynamic Impact Players will help change initially highlighted player each game during the season.
    - Licensing for former college players only applies for use in NCAA Football Ultimate Team.
    - Demo development cut off several weeks before game went final. Numerous bugs in the demo were addressed by retail. Also working on post-release support for additional issues.
    - CPU run game improved, especially on Heisman the computer will be able to run successfully against users.
    - Stiff Arm: Does not feel users have utilized enough in demo due to lack of comments on improved stiff arm so far.
    - Pre-game Show & Halftime Show: To get demo under file size limits, some presentation aspects were removed including key player pre-game focus and halftime show. Demo size limit is 2 GB, NCAA 14 demo is 1.89 GB.
    - A lot of chemistry between Rece Davis & David Pollack in recording commentary. Exciting for people to hear halftime show in retail.
    - NCAA Football Ultimate Team: Players such as Russell Shepard may be in the mode and at several positions, matching what they played in college.
    - NFUT: Former players - Still in process of signing players. Former Nebraska QB Tommie Frazier on the list of players they hope to sign and add. With a majority of the mode being server-based, more players can be added throughout the year. Some that they have signed/added may be "pretty surprising."
    - Low stamina will increase chance of fumble or injury by the ballcarrier. Special moves & big hits will also decrease stamina significantly. Jukes will be slower, spin moves will become sloppy as the player is more fatigued.
    - Users will be able to export NCAA Football 14 draft classes to Madden NFL 25.

Hoping to hear something in regards to lack of pass coverage and pass rush.

Maybe its one of the "numerous" bugs in the demo.

Don't hold your breath. The NO Defense/No Pass Coverage/Rush problems have been issues for YEARS now. IMHO they want the game to be basketball on grass so the casuals will enjoy it.

If roster import is in this game, can we please not have the players have their equipment changed when they're imported, not have shrinked heads, and not have their shoulder pads look pointy? I hated import because of that

In Ultimate Team how have playbooks been handled? Do you unlock them through cards, can you choose them, can you use custom playbooks? Also, can you create a uniform through teambuilder and use it in UT?

you get playbooks in packs or buy them separately in auctions. I bet though it might be possible that if you change playbook and save it to your profile outside of NCAA-UT, when you get that playbook inside Ncaa-UT, your chosen plays might show up... I don't really know though ?

Yeah, I am not expecting any changes in how the game plays from demo to retail in this area.
