2K confirmed the console version does not include the PS Camera or Kinect support this year, so users who want to scan their face must download the My NBA2K17 mobile app, which releases on iOS and Android on September 8.

In addition to the face-scanning tech, the app features the ability to win VC points daily (the virtual currency used in NBA 2K17), a MyPlayer shop for perusing console items for your created baller, a MyTeam Mobile collectible card game, and the ability to buy and sell MyTeam cards via the auction house.

If there is no way to know if the scan was successful until playing The Prelude (or retail version), there are going to be some 'great' game clips emerging tomorrow night.

The app is available, but it appears that you cannot sign in to earn VC or do the facescan until you have first signed into NBA 2K17. As of now, the claim that you can facescan today and have it show immediately into The Prelude tonight/tomorrow is not correct.

Once you start "The Prelude" you will be able to sign in and scan your face on the app. I recommend using the rear facing camera, as it gives more definition.
