Honestly, I am going out on a limb (and it pains me to say this...) but I think Nashville will shock the world and defeat Vancouver in this series. I just have this bad feeling that Nashville will have lights-out goal keeping. Pecca Renne is a beast. I know Vcr (and the fans) are totally underestimating this team. That is a colossal mistake. Nashville plays a highly defensive (and boring) style of hockey and that's not what Vancouver is used to. Plus Nashville plays really well against Vancouver. Anyways, bring on Thursday!

Pens are done. :/

East sets up like this:

TB/WSH
BOS/PHI

I guess I'll root for a anybody-but-Detroit vs Boston or Tampa in the Finals.

Hey I'm not a flyers fan but how the heck does a team that hasn't had a legit goalie since Ron Hextall contiune to do well in the regular season and the playoffs? You need to give them credit for that. No goalie for two years yet significant success.

That overrated, dirty, sleazy motherfucker Ovechkin barely outscored Crosby this year and Sid missed 41 games. Ovechtricks are not in the future. :)

Well after watching three games, I have changed my mind. Vancouver will beat Nashville. Other than goal tending, Nashville is awful. Simply put, they have no skill and possibly one of the worst power plays in recent history. If Rinne let's in more that one goal it's a 50-50 chance they will win. I give Nashville credit for making it to this point but they just don't have any scoring presence to take this series.

Washington felt the first three games could have gone either way, with Ovechkin insisting after Game 3 that the series was far from over and that he expected his team to come back and win.

Congrats, buddy! At least, at this point, you can have peace with getting to the WCF. IMO, winning the President's Trophy requires that. If they don't win the Cup, I wouldn't call it a playoff failure at all.

If DET pulls a comeback, I'll be rooting HARD for VAN. If SJ wins, I'll just watch as a fan (with maaaaybe a little bias toward booting the last Canadian team ;) lol).

Same here. As a Colorado Avalanche fan, even though the rivalry hasn't really been the same since the late 90s and very early 2000s (not as heated and brawl filled, such as around and after the time of the Bloody Wednesday game), I am obligated to root against the Red Wings at any and every opportunity. :)

Well if Vcr makes it and wins the cup it would be the first time a Canadian squad has won since Montreal defeated L.A. back in 1993! No pressure though. I really hope it is San Jose in the WCF though as I think it would be a good series. Plus, I don't want to see Detoit again in the Stanley Cup finals.

The fans want Winnipeg Jets but True North owns the MANITBOA MOOSE and there has been some discussion to start anew. Could the MOOSE be the next NHL team? Personally I think that this move is just the start of some major realignments. Quebec City and Hamilton (outside Toronto) will be lining up to move teams. Game two tonight. It will be interesting to see if Boston steps up their play. Personally I loved the game on Wednesday but I think Boston could give a little more.

Side note, the Houston Aeros and Binghamton Senators are tied 2-2 in the Calder Cup Finals (AHL) with Game 5 tonight in Binghamton. Game 6 is Tuesday and 7 (if necessary) is Thursday, both in Houston. If the Aeros get to 3 wins, I will definitely be going to the remaining game(s).

In 1999, when the Aeros won their first title (Turner Cup, IHL), I was at every home playoff game. They had home ice in every series and they all went the distance. Good times.

Typically, bad. I think game 3 in Binghamton only drew about 4700, IIRC. Houston does better for obvious reasons. The Aeros were selling out the Compaq Center (pre Toyota Center) by game 7 of the Turner Cup Finals in '99. I expect game(s) 6/7 to draw pretty well here.

Best seat in the house for tonight's game.... $3,500 for a SINGLE ticket. Yeah I think it's fair to say that Canada LOVES it's hockey. Heard on the radio last night that game three for Boston, you can get a good seat for about $750.

There may be a lot of enforcers (and a lot younger than 39, too) looking to do the same if fighting is ever removed from the NHL.

Side note: the Aeros trail the Senators, 3-2 heading back to Houston for Game 6 on Tuesday. Game 7 (if necessary) would be in Houston on Thursday. I'll be at Game 7, if there is one.

Oh, I'm sure. But the vast majority of NHL enforcers now train in MMA in the offseason (which is reflected by guys trying to take their opponents to the ice and still striking them when they get them there - both were "no-no's" in the past). I'm just saying that guys who can only fight will be looking for paychecks if fighting is ever removed from the NHL.

After a pair of hard-fought 1-goal wins, Vancouver completely melted down in Game 3 tonight, losing 8-1. Boston is right back in it now. It's going to be interesting to see how Luongo responds in Game 4. Wow.

Either super-human or super-bad. Love him or hate him... Luongo is the only way Vancouver wins this series.

Hey I'm kinda pulling for the Canucks here myself, but I'm starting to feel that Boston may just be a tick better right now. They were so close in game 1 and 2 and then to not just cave in in game 3 says something. If they get game 4 here, this is going to be a really really good series.

Those are my exact thoughts, I think Lungo steals 1 more but if it isn't game 4 I don't think the Canucks win this series.

With all minds focused on not screwing up my Thursday night bar routine, the Aeros lost Game 6 on Tuesday, 3-2. The loss gives the Calder Cup to the Sens and keeps steelerfan in the bars and out of the Toyota Center on Thursday. Local bar owners rejoice!

Note: the crowd for Game 6 in Houston was more than 10,000.

This series still falls on Luongo. He IS good enough to steel it... but props to Boston. They are doing what needs to be done~ tough, gritty, chippy, etc. Bring on game 5!

12-1 in the last 2 games. Boston has all the cards now.

I agree, jaymo, Luongo is good enough. The problem with him is that he is an absolute headcase. The other huge issue for Vancouver is Tim Thomas. He's the best in the world. Without plenty of power plays, I can't see Vancouver winning this thing now.

jaymo76
06-09-2011, 08:08 PM
But the thing is in the last two games Vcr hasn't really tested Thomas. I swear with their rattled confidence they are literally shootingh at the 'B' on his chest. Regardless of the end result... great storylines for this playoff.

pretty much like I thought. Why are the ROAD teams so weak in this series? Seriously, as soon as they go on the road all of the passion, emotion, speed, agility, etc is gone. Contrary to the opinions above I see no way that Vancouver can lose this series. Boston can't show up on the road. I think game six will be intense as now the Canucks can smell the blood in the water!

Yes Canucks are cocky, sometimes dirty, arrogant, etc... but it's game seven and LUONGO will stand on his head for the victory. A lot of people are saying "how can the Canucks win?" The better question "is there any way the Bruins can win this game?" I just don't see it. Vancouver at home in a game 7... it's a done deal IMO.

Less than a hour to do... bring on the game!!!

Yeah, professional team fans riot when their team wins AND when their team loses. In college, Columbus riots (re: OSU students/people living near the campus flipping and burning cars) whether the Buckeyes win or lose. West Virginia, they riot (re: burn couches) any day of the week just because they feel like it. :D

So the amazing thing about these riots is the fact that most of these 100+ people that were arrested were not even from Vancouver. Some from Montreal, some from Oregon, looks like an anarchist group was going to lead a riot regardless of what happened, and wanted to give Vancouver a black eye in the process I guess.
