I still think the Eagles and Cowboys are the 2 best teams in that division. Even if the Giants are 2nd best, I think the 2 wild cards will come from the NFC West and NFC North.

Detroit in 4th? I just don't see it. I would much more likely see Chicago there. I see Detroit #2 behind GB. Also, Atlanta #2 over NO? That's a hard sell.

I don't think my Bettis jerseys would fit anymore, lol. I have several Steelers jerseys. Off the top of my head:

36 Bettis
36 Bettis (away)
10 Stewart
99 Kirkland
80 Burress (away)
7 Roethlisberger
56 Woodley
92 Harrison
98 Hampton
66 DeCastro

Probably a few more I'm forgetting. I'm considering getting:

94 Timmons
91 Tuitt

Haha mine still fit me. The old Starter jerseys. Think mine was a 52 size back then. Bought it big back then though it still kind of fit. Doesn't fit big now lol.

Yeah I have the Bettis home and away jerseys. Wasn't really big jersey guy although I still want to get authentic Bettis ones to frame up in my eventual Steeler cave.

No, I'm a big guy so I stay away from jerseys of little guys. That's why no Bell or Ward or Parker or Polamalu. The only reason I got the Burress was because I found it at a store in Pittsburgh for like $40. Now days it's only linemen and linebackers for me. That's why I bought a DeCastro last year and I'm considering Tuitt and Timmons this year. :)

I simply can't get into preseason. I only watch dolphins games in the preseason and even that's a struggle. There are less than 5 roster spots really open and teams barely play the starters anymore. I bet the good qbs don't even play 4 quarters across 4 games.

In one person's eyes maybe, and god bless living in a country where one person doesn't get to dictate what is or isn't funny or offensive. If you don't like it, well, back out of the thread and move on to another one. We have enough PC bullshit that's turning this country into a bunch of fucking pussies who cry and whine about their hurt feelings over literally everything. From this weekend, seriously? We need front page news about a suck ass player "stepping away from football" because they can't cut it on the field? Great, Sam's ***, good for him. Other than that, who honestly gives a fuck that a SEVENTH ROUND draft pick that couldn't even stay with a team through preseason, nor couldn't make it on a team's practice squad, and couldn't even cut it in the goddamn CFL, is stepping away from football? Oh, that's right, simply being *** equals front page news coverage. Nothing against the guy, but do something on the field or shut the fuck up and just go on with life. I'm sick of hearing about him every fucking time he farts. At this point, nothing but a publicity whore.

Rudy

Michael Sam showed his lack of commitment when he showed up out of shape at the vet combine and his numbers were significantly worse than the year before. He wasn't close to breaking 5.0 in the 40.

SmoothPancakes
08-16-2015, 08:35 PM
Yep, he has lacked commitment to football for a while now. I don't know if he's expecting his status to just carry him through the NFL like it has been off the field (going on all the talk shows, the Oprah stuff, the "movie" talks, etc), apparently he expected to just be handed a roster spot or something. Even after going to the CFL, he couldn't even produce in the one and only game he played in.

From the discussions I've seen online, basically, he was carried by Kony Ealy, who was constantly being double and triple teamed and despite that teams still running the opposite direction of him, leading to Michael Sam getting such big numbers his senior year. And I can believe it. First three years of his career, he had at most 29 total tackles, at most 16 solo tackles (both tackle stats from his sophomore year) and at most 4.5 sacks. Then his senior year, all of a sudden he explodes for 48 total tackles, 31 solo tackles and 11.5 sacks. Yeah, I would say having a beast like Ealy on the opposite side of the defensive line helped those numbers.

steelerfan
08-16-2015, 09:26 PM
My question, Smooth, is this. If Michael Sam farts, does it make a sound?

ram29jackson
08-16-2015, 10:26 PM
It was propaganda and a publicity stunt from the get go. They also made ***'s look bad do to mental issues in the process while in the beginning everyone said what a great pro *** thing it was lol

SmoothPancakes
08-17-2015, 04:58 AM
Dear god, someone slap me, I'm agreeing with ram. I have no doubt it was a publicity stunt from the very beginning. What great timing, wait until the last two months leading up to the draft to come out and end up become a major headline those two months as well as the entire draft weekend. Most players would kill to have their name mentioned thousands of times in a two or three day period on TV. Another red flag was him talking about how he just wanted to focus on football and becoming an NFL player after being drafted, then next thing you know he's on every single morning show in existence, on ESPN constantly, on Oprah, talking about a book or a movie being made about him (for doing literally nothing but simply saying "I'm ***" and being a football player), on Dancing with the Stars, etc. It was nothing but a publicity shitshow from the very beginning. I don't know if he thought all that press would make it impossible for a team to cut him, or if he thought it would make him millions instantly with companies and sponsors lining up left and right to sign him to deals or what he expected.

Of course, ESPN didn't help either. I had no problem with Tebow, other than he truly wasn't as good as people made him out to be. I'm a Broncos fan, I watched every game that year he was the starting QB. Yes, they won 8 games, yes, they made the playoffs, yes, they won a playoff game, but I watched every damn game and every damn game was right on a razor thin line of being a nail-biting win or a blowout loss that was made that way thanks to a tough fuck defense and one of the best kickers in the game. It was three and a half quarters, every game, hoping the defense didn't blow it and hoping the kicker was dead accurate that day while waiting for Tebow to dislodge his head from his ass so he could have some great drive in the final minutes of the game to pull a win out of his ass. But yet, turn on ESPN or go on the various websites, and all you heard was Tebow! Tebow is a god! Tebow is great! Tebow for MVP! And other retarded bullshit. It was that never ending Tebow up your ass shit on TV and online that soured him for me and made me so sick of hearing his goddamn name that I was happy when he started sucking and shuffling around the NFL as nothing more than a back up or bench warmer, because I didn't have to hear his damn name every 10 seconds.

Same with Michael Sam. I had no problems whatsoever with Sam when he came out. Hey, congrats, I was happy for him. I've always been a supporter of gays and *** rights, I celebrated the Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage because some good friends from college who are *** could finally legally marry after years of a happy and loving relationship together. No reason they shouldn't have had the same rights to marry since their love for each other was exactly the same as that which straight people have for each other. So I was fine with him when he announced, other than the questionable timing of doing it two months before the draft, which he knew damn well would be a major publicity coup with every news channel in the country (and probably even outside the US) picking it up. But then, partly thanks to ESPN, it was nothing but Michael Sam, Michael Sam, Michael Sam, 24 hours a day. Eventually everyone was sick of hearing the goddamn name Michael Sam.

Then he finally gets in the NFL. And what does he do? Nothing. Gets cut by St. Louis in the preseason. Joins Dallas' practice team, but gets cut after a month and a half. No one else will sign him, he shows up as a slower, out of shape joke at the veteran combine, so he goes to the CFL and joins Montreal. A day before their first preseason game, he leaves for personal reasons and is gone for two weeks, ends up sitting out the first five games of their season after he returns, fi/nally played a game, only to do absolutely nothing, not even recording a single tackle. Misses the next game because of a sore back and then the day after that game, leaves again because of mental health. Oh, and as a seventh round draft pick, who has never played a regular season NFL game, he feels the need to announce that he's stepping away from football. I'm still waiting for ESPN to give front page status to the announcements of the other 19 seventh round draft picks from that year who didn't make opening day NFL rosters. If they announced they were stepping away from football today, would ESPN even give them so much as a two sentence story on the website? It sure as hell wouldn't rate front page status like Sam's did.

I'm sorry, but the dude just isn't cut out for the NFL. Like I said before, as I have seen others saying online, I firmly believe those great senior season stats at Missouri were because of Kony Ealy being on the other end of the defensive line and him being such a beast that teams were double and triple teaming him AND still running the ball the opposite direction of him, right into Sam. But that didn't stop ESPN and others from taking his coming out as ***, and his bloated senior season stats, and running away with it in their typical fashion.

It's "premeditate"; there shouldn't be 2 spaces between "premeditated" and "any"; "NFL" should be capitalized; there shouldn't be 2 spaces between "entertainment" and "business" or between "business" and "and"; you are missing a space between the comma and "now" and you are missing a period or exclamation point at the conclusion of the last sentence.

And there we have it. Similar to the endless Denver guarantees last year, right from the mouth of ram, the Steelers are winning the Super Bowl this year, it's already been decided.

And for the second year in a row, the Giants are making the playoffs (and apparently the Super Bowl).

I wonder what the excuse will be when the Steelers don't make the Super Bowl. Or the Giants or Packers fail to make it as well.

If the whole thing is scripted, why do we "know" Jacksonville is not going to the Super Bowl? Is it because they have a roster devoid of talent?

The very admission that Jacksonville will not be in the Super Bowl, despite the committee logo, is an admission that he is shaping his theories around the teams that he sees as having the talent to win the Super Bowl. If it was all scripted, there would be no reason that we'd all "know" the Jaguars at not going to the Super Bowl. But, knowing they are talentless, he won't pick them because he knows the games are real and they have no chance.

You avoid that the Super bowl host committees get uniform colors right two years in a row. You believe in way too much luck. Also, it's incredibly easy to fabricate and orchastrate a team sucking if they so choose.
There's no way a team would suck that long if they were actually working under their own power to improve. If something wasn't working you wouldn't keep doing it and people wouldn't stay. They have created a reality that you are gullible enough to accept.

And here's an idea. It's called money! Look at owners like the Miami Marlins in baseball, they trade off all their good players so they can keep player salaries low, so more money from ticket sales goes straight into their own pockets instead of the players pockets. It's called the owners don't care about winning championships, they're using the team for nothing more than to increase their own personal wealth. But then again, I don't expect a tinhead like you to understand a concept like that.

The "Chink in the Armor" guy writing about Jeremy Lin was fired. Most sane people were able to realize that it is a commonly used term and it was poor timing. Even Lin said it was an honest mistake. ESPN on the other hand, to say they are "progressive" would be generous at best.

While I find his advice very humorous and probably not the best thing to say in this PC world we live in , there is some logic in it.

He was saying if you insist on having a crew and getting into trouble at least have a fall guy. I have been saying that for years when it comes to athletes if you are going to be stupid at least have someone else take the fall for it. Hell most of these guys aren't the brightest and they have friends on payroll.

Cris should have followed his own advice. Blame it on Sapp. Sapp is always in trouble, even ESPN and the NFL were forced to suspend him this year.

Sapp has had a busy year.

Soliciting a prostitute and allegedly assaulting two women at the Super Bowl. Pretty sure it was dismissed but does not mean it didn't happen. Moved to biting his girlfriend, throwing her to the ground and stepping on her head just a couple months ago.

Well usually in all of these type of things they want to show people who have led the example on what NOT to do. Maurice Clarett just spoke to Florida State's team recently right?

Yeah that's what I was saying OB. The athlete will get the most attention and/or blame anyway regardless if he did it or not. If they have been friends with the athlete from day one then it isn't even a question that they will likely step and take the fall. The new friends won't though :D

I think the Dolphins have the most money committed to players in the entire NFL next year. You could argue they are in the worst shape although they are young. Cam Wake, Olivier Vernon, and Lamar Miller are the only big free agents as most of their core is intact. They will have to pick one DE to resign. Truth is this team is married to Tannehill and his progression is the only thing that matters. He has improved again this camp so I'm hopeful. If he's good we can trim some fat in a few spots and be OK next year. We definitely won't be spenders in free agency.

You always overpay in free agency but he's been incredible and also just turned 28 and is in his prime. He's the best DT in the game. With the cap going up a lot I don't see his contract as being bad. It's a lot better to overpay a little and get a stud then pay someone $6or $7 million a year and get mediocre to bad play like they got from Wheeler, Ellerbe and Hartline last year or two. Those contracts hurt worse imo.

The NFL is more predictable than college. Colin Cowherd has an easy system for predicting who's going to be good and who won't (barring injuries). How good is your QB and how good are the QBs you face. The Eagles are really the only outlier to this rule. The Giants are decent at QB. I tend to think the Giants win in spite of Eli and not because of.

Tannehill was off target a few too much but made enough plays to squeak it out. Landry punt return was great. Good thing Miami has a soft start. That was crazy in the Raiders game. I didn't think anything of the Suh play live. I don't know if that was intentional or not but with Suh he's had a way of doing that stuff and making it appear accidental for awhile.

A lot of teams did not look sharp in week 1. Some good teams lost or struggled. I have to wonder if the blatant sitting of starters in preseason this past year (Packers even sat game 3) has left many teams unprepared to start the year on both offence and defence. Teams have always played more backups in preseason but it was crazy this year. I swear teams only concerned themselves with injuries. I'm glad nfl is considering going to two preseason games. Should be two weeks between last game and start of season too.

On third and 12 he gave so much cushion it was the easiest third and long conversion I've ever seen.

And this gimmick offence is fooling nobody. Time to take the skirts off and start running the ball more and with power. Time to be less predictable throwing short throws all the time. Defences are ready for it. Almost no play action either. No imagination or execution.

Talk about missing a chance to put a nail in the Ravens coffin. I didn't see much of the game but I had tuned in when it was 20-7 and saw the Ravens climb to 20-14 and then miss the fake FG try. Vick just isn't a good passer. He's never read the field well, has no concept of timing and as a result takes a ridiculous number of sacks for someone so athletic.

The NFL just does not have a good group of QBs as backups. If someone goes down there are very few teams that can be confident in #2. What I don't understand is guys saying they need a development league. While we did get Kurt Warner out of NFL Europe the NFL didn't even recognize Warner's ability. He was cut and left off the Rams expansion list (but wasn't taken) and only got his shot after Trent Green went down. They are terrible at recognizing and developing talent. Just use the CFL. I'm kind of surprised teams haven't done more of that. Moon, Theisman and Flutie all came from the CFL. Henry Burris was tried but never given a real shot. I'd like to see teams be a little more open to them. If Zach Collaros hadn't wrecked his ACL I wonder if an NFL team would have come calling. Only 27 and operated the spread at Cinci. Bo Levi Mitchell is a 25 year old QB from Eastern Washington doing well with Calgary. Could be an option.

It does suck when you have to turn into video game tactics of going for it on 4th downs because you don't have a capable or reliable kicker

Tucker confidently strutted out and nailed multiple 40 yarders and a 50 yarder for the win.

I'm not sure the Steelers are even confident theirs can make the PAT consistently for fuck's sake. And he even nearly missed the 2 FG's he did make! Granted 1 was partially blocked.

Unfortunately I see him playing a part in even more losses this season. Remember he also missed 2 in the first week as well...which were kind of big also

Also on that QB Sprint out that failed. If the blocking were the same it wouldn't have matter if Bell, Bettis, Franco Harris or anyone got the ball there...the way the Oline got manhandled on it

Not going to happen. Scobee will be cut today. Guaranteed. No way you can keep him when you have no confidence in him. Not much out there but a warm blooded body can do just as good.

One thing to expect misses from unknowns than to get them from someone you don't expect to miss them...but have to because well..he keeps missing them

It does suck when you have to turn into video game tactics of going for it on 4th downs because you don't have a capable or reliable kicker

Scientifically, they should've been going for it anyway.

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-or-fiction-nfl-teams-4th-downs/Oh I agree should have been going for those but even if the FG's were closer I imagine still wouldn't have sent the kicker out given his perchant for missing kicks already in this early season.

All things considered still feeling good about this team this year.

All-Pro Center is out, QB is out, Bryant has been out past 4 games, Bell was out 2 games, 3rd kicker of the season before Week 1...and still should be sitting at 3-1 right now and had numerous chances against New England with an out of sync Defense

How did it take this long to do what everyone knew would happen? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/03/407c7a9710a0206e23548ebf1893419f.jpg

Could see our first firing of the season coming up. Reports are saying the Dolphins players have lost confidence in DC Kevin Coyle and if the Dolphins have another poor showing today and lose badly, he could be fired as soon as this week.

Honestly, I would be more concerned with the OC. Brutal play calling today.

I want Philbin, the OC Lazor, DC Coyle all fired. This team disgusts me.

What is the deal with FG kickers this year? Miss after miss after miss. That Jacksonville kicker replaced Scobbee... who is worse?

Is it Peyton's age? Is it the OC? Is it the head coach philosophy? Watching Denver this year on offense is a painful experience. The offense looks downright mediocre and the run game is non-existent for large portions of the games. I don't follow Denver close enough so I don't know. However, outside of the defense I would be very concerned about the likelyhood of this team making another SB run.

Kubiac is forcing Peyton to run his offence which is more run heavy and full of bootlegs. They also lost their TE to the Jags.
