Fresh off a Stanley Cup Championship, Chicago Blackhawk teammates Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane have been announced as co-cover athletes for NHL 16.

The revealed 'cover' image has drawn significant criticism from the community, but it is unknown if it is the final version for retail. Traditionally, EA SPORTS has released a 'placeholder' cover for the initial athlete reveal only to update the cover following a photo shoot. However, their most recent cover reveals (Madden NFL 16, NBA Live 16, Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR) featured the final cover.

Continue on to see part of the press release from EA SPORTS and then share your thoughts with the community.

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA), the National Hockey League (NHL®) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced today during the 2015 NHL Awards™ that three-time Stanley Cup® Champions Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks® will both appear on the cover of EA SPORTS™ NHL® 16. This marks the first time in franchise history that the cover has featured two teammates as well as the Stanley Cup trophy. Kane and Toews are also the only athletes to appear on an EA SPORTS™ NHL cover twice. The duo spotlight embodies the spirit of NHL 16, where you’ll play together and win together.

If you didn't like this NHL 15 cover design, it may end up being changed:

Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is the subject of a police investigation in Hamburg, New York, his offseason home, The Buffalo News reported Wednesday.

The newspaper, citing two sources with knowledge of the investigation, did not disclose the nature of the allegation against the 26-year-old Kane. It said no charges have been filed, and as of Thursday morning, it did not know whether police had questioned Kane.

Hamburg police would not confirm an investigation is taking place. The NHL said Thursday that it is aware of the investigation, according to multiple media reports.

"I can't even confirm that there is an incident," Hamburg Police Chief Gregory G. Wickett told ESPN. "We're not confirming or denying that there is an investigation with Mr. Kane."

Media members/reporters on Twitter are saying it is a rape investigation.

Wasn't the charge sexual assault/attempted rape? I thought I heard that last night.
