WHOA! "Breaking: Eagles to trade RB LeSean McCoy to Bills for LB Kiko Alonso, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter"

skipwondah33
03-03-2015, 08:43 PM
Yep I was shocked at that trade.

Rex is likely thinking that Defense did well without him and have the talent already in place to be even better..especially with talks of adding Revis.

McCoy was needed much more

Rudy
03-04-2015, 03:53 PM
I think the Eagles won. McCoy was very expensive and a borderline cap casualty after a down year. Clearing $10M in cap space and getting a very good, young and cheap player was a good move. Tons of RBs in the draft.

skipwondah33
03-04-2015, 05:22 PM
Both teams won, but just as "easy" as it is to find an RB, finding a quality LB could work just the same.

The Bills despartely needed a RB as Rex loves to run the ball. What better than to get a top 3 RB in the NFL easily...for a guy the Defense excelled without just fine.

This of course in terms of talent alone. The monetary side of course the Eagles made out because it cleared up even more space.

They needed Alonso though because they need a heck of a lot on Defense...as it was thrash last season if I'm not mistaken. And to Ryans is likely gone, which he had a major inury anyway

steelerfan
03-04-2015, 07:22 PM
Does Ryan love running the ball or does he run the ball because he has always had shit under center?

Chicken and egg, at best.

#TheScriptIsDead

skipwondah33
03-04-2015, 07:49 PM
Believe he likes running it too though

As shitty as the Jets were they ranked pretty high I'm rushing past 2 seasons believe

That's even more telling...everyone knew they couldn't throw but still couldn't stop it very well

Rudy
03-08-2015, 08:14 PM
Ouch! But Suh can battle Incognito in the Buffalo games twice this year. I think Wallace stays. He's the only guy on offence that scares the opposing team. Landry is great on third down and the slot bit he's not dangerous yet. I don't like losing Clay at TE. Tannehill functions better with a good TE. I'd like a pass catching option if he leaves.

Marlin to KC and Philly picks up Gore and Maxwell I think.

Dolphins trade for Kenny Stills and unload Ellerbe and Wallace contracts. I don't get New Orleans. Dolphins trying to resign Clay which seems a bit too much for the TE position. They need a veteran WR now and probably drafting one. FS, G and WR are biggest needs now.

skipwondah33
03-14-2015, 12:24 PM
Vikings get Wallace after all for cheaper than what they would have given him orginally

Hope DeAngelo Williams works out. Would have been nice to get the 4 years ago version of him, but he should compliment Bell nicely. Especially during suspension

NFL: Legendary Eagles HOF LB/C Chuck Bednarik passed away Saturday morning at age 89; 14 seasons, 8-time Pro Bowler.

Chuck Bednarik was a man among men in an era when the sport was exclusively played by men. It makes me sad that the modern game is so watered down.

Rudy

I have sympathy for rookie contracts that are greatly undervalued but once you sign your second deal you are a big boy and need to live with the consequences. I can even understand if he was in the last year of his deal but he's only played 2 of the 5 years on that deal. That's way too early to put up a stink. Most teams won't even talk to you if you've got 2+ years left on a deal.

skipwondah33
04-20-2015, 02:35 PM
Exactly

I know he had a terrific season last year and feels under paid given the deals others are signing, but has to be realistic.

SmoothPancakes

Yep. Either learn to sign shorter length contracts or suck it up. This play great in the first year or two of a multi-year contract then stomp your foot and hold your breath because you want more money crap is getting old. You agreed to the bloody contract, suck it up and deal with it.

#TheScriptIsDead

Rudy
04-20-2015, 07:55 PM
The only thing I will say is the contracts are not guaranteed and teams often cut players or force them to take payouts. NFL teams usually benefit more than the players with regards to contracts.

The suspension of Farmer for 4 games for testing the sidelines was very harsh. The NFL always likes dropping the hammer for news, clicks and somehow image improvement. Yay, media! You did it! You turned a non-issue into an issue.A caller on SiriusXM made a good point last night. In Goodell's eyes, this might not really be about the psi or the actual amount that it was off by. Instead, consider that the equipment guys took the balls to the officials, had them measured and approved, then modified them after approval. That's a legitimate attempt to cheat and speaks to the integrity of the game.

Someone, I believe it was this topic, compared it to NASCAR. NASCAR penalties can be overly harsh as it is. But I can only imagine what the NASCAR penalties would be if someone was found to have illegally modified their car after pre-race inspection (not even sure if NASCAR allows access to the car after inspection).

Don't think they do, but there is a post-race inspection too so there's that.

The Pats report was pretty good though. I read a part of it. The NFL case is really weak and cherry picked. The NFL has lost a lot of cases in court lately too. I think Brady beats it.

I do find it funny the Pats say nothing happened and then also fire the guys invoked lol. Talk about hypocritical.

Actually the NFL didn't lose really

They suspended Rice...sure it was overturned but he ended up missing the entire season. Which I think the NFL was content with.

Same with Peterson. Overturned...but he still missed all of last season which was the point I'm sure. Hardy as well...and he will miss another 10 games this season.

Ed Werner posted a quote from a Brady interview that "he likes when Gronk spikes so hard, deflates the ball a little bit which I like" somewhere along the lines.

That is one reason I can't stand Goodell. The arbitration process is a joke and completely unfair with him in charge. I can't find the case but a Missouri court just ruled against the NFL for this reason alone citing an arbitrator has to be neutral and yet Goodell continues this crap.

This story sums up the NFL weak case.

http://www.breitbart.com/sports/2015/05/12/top-10-reasons-why-an-appeal-overturns-tom-bradys-suspension/

Edit - here is the court case Goodell just lost about being the arbitrator in league cases since it violates the NFL constitution on requiring impartiality.

My belief is that the suspension will be minimally reduced but will stand.

The NFL likely also did exactly what most of the talking heads, at least on SiriusXM, were predicting: Suspend him for X games, then reduce the suspension on appeal for X/2 games. The way I see it, it's kind of like asking for more money then you want in a job interview, then "settling" for less.

Set the bar high, that way you can always go down...but not up.

I used that same line of thinking with hardware purchases I wanted to make at my old job. Throw in a few decoy buys that were costly, then list what I really wanted much cheaper of course than they were.

If it were a legal case, I'm sure they could be subpoenaed but in this case, there aren't any laws being broken. At that point, it's up to Brady to choose to disclose them.

The NFL doesn't have a true appeal process on discipline. Roger just rehears the case. That's why they have been getting killed in court and lost the last case in Missouri. The NFL will lose in court again.

Heard they lost the Ray Rice case...he still missed the entire season and still hasn't found a team.

Adrian Peterson case...still missed the entire season

Hardy....missed last season and won't play until after Week 4 this season. Sure it isn't 10 games but it will be if last year's games and this season's are factored in.

So I guess they did technically lose the cases but the ultimate end result was accomplished missed time/games...which no matter what you do can't get back either of those.

skip, you have a point (which I would agree and take further and say that many court cases just delay the inevitable outcome), but in this case there is no guarantee that without the court case Peterson would have been reinstated in April. He would have had to petition Goodell for reinstatement.
